I think Nina Persson's solo album from last year is very comparable and much better than 25. Someone else who's heard Nina's album! I'd listen to her sing a phonebook.

Adele's an interesting case for me. I understand her appeal, but I don't care for her music much at all. Seeing her break every record imaginable is incredible, but I'm not going to rush out and buy "25" simply so I can say I was a part of her historic success. I keep hearing people say her music is amazing, she makes "real" music, etc. and I can't help but think she's getting more credit than she deserves in that regard. Adele can sell a song like nobody's business, but there are also plenty of others that can do the same thing. Just because Adele is far from your typical Pop star doesn't mean that she's the only "real" one, and everyone else must be s**t. Everyone goes on about how her music sells first, but no one mentions that she's also extremely likable, beautiful, and (like every other artist on Earth), she sells an image. Seeing someone smash so effortlessly in this day and age is awesome, but I do think people get carried away with the "Adele is real music" and "She's only about the music" kind of praise. Just because she isn't your typical skinny, airhead Pop star doesn't mean she isn't selling an image that is prepped and perfected for the masses. I think the way her broad appeal motivates people to buy her albums in droves is what creates the hype that she's this be-all, end-all talent. I mean, look at all the demographics she appeals to: 1. Curvier girls/women who want a curvier celebrity to relate to 2. Beckys who need their breakup anthems 3. Gays who need their big-voiced divas 4. Moms who want stay hip with the kids/relive their Carole King Tapestry days 5. Musicians & music fans who want to keep up with general industry trends 6. Indie-leaning music fans who generally shun pop music, but like Adele because her vocal style is closer to their usual preference Fulfill all of these needs with an attractive, fun-yet-mysterious woman in a tasteful black dress, and you've got a recipe for success. Even if her music is good but not great, she's got so many markets cornered that she'll sell regardless. The resulting massive sales numbers perpetuate the idea that her talent, too, is massive, whether you believe it is or not. Note: I do believe Adele is quite talented, but was trying to look at her success as objectively as possible. What are "Beckys?" I don't think there's any room to deny that Adele is talented. You don't have to like her (I find her pretty boring) but girl can belt for sure. I see her as the female version of Sam Smith if everything he released were to go to #1.

It's a slang term that is used to describe a Caucasian girl out of the valley. It is also a slang term to describe a Caucasian girl or woman who is snobbish and stuck up.

I see you're looking up Urban Dictionary again as reference. Beckys are basic white girls/ women. If we want to be really real it's white women in general. Snow bunny will suffice in certain circles as well.

Also, I haven't heard any other country music that I like as much as Florida Georgia Line, and I really passionately love them. Anything Goes is a 5-star perfect album for me.

While it's great to see openly gay artists like Sam Smith, Adam Lambert, and Troye Sivan in the industry, I have yet to find any gay male artists who excite me musically.

I'm revamping this thread because I don't know where anyone is discussing the Ascap BMI legislation up right now causing a shitstorm.
Virtually nobody professional seems to understand the legislation at all and how it protects writers, not hurts them, and protects your right to record your own songs if they are co writes among other issues.
Blake Shelton is one of the strongest singers out there. His voice can carry with no amplification, he has amazing tone. Whoever is saying he can't sing or is sub par is just nuts. I'm not even a fan in fact I highly dislike him, but I was at his recent Music Row concert and there is no doubt about his singing talents, he is incredible.

Blake Shelton is an awful person. I don't like his singing or songs either, but on a personal level, I can't stand him.
Sia should be at 14:59 right now but somehow her BS passes for artistry.

Future and Fetty Wap do not deserve the critical praise they get. And they can't sing, nor are they contributing anything to hip-hop that hasn't already been done.

Out of the woods is a mediocre pastiche of the Bleachers and Taylor really can't pull that look off.

Britney Spears is overrated. I've always felt this way about Britney Spears. Of all the prime pop stars she's basically the only one whose music I've never been able to really get into. Plus, her as a performer (I'm talking about the first few years of her career, her peak years as a performer), her style, her videos, her personalityβshe doesn't do anything for me. I do enjoy a handful of her songs, don't get me wrong, but still... I wouldn't include any of those if I made a list of my 100 all-time favorite songs or something. Oh, and her single "Gimme More" IMO is probably the most overrated, overpraised single of the 00's; I can't even dig it as a club song, it doesn't go hard. Meh.

Jewel was kind of a pop star. She got messed up tooth, not teeth. ;) Bitch can work her angles. Unpopular opinion: "Moments" by Tove Lo WAS the right single and should have smashed harder than most of the shit by the other newbies radio is playing now.

YAS Moments is love, one of QOTC's best and that album is gold, no not even PLATINUM. Although I have semi mixed feelings about a few scenes in the music video for it. Unpopular Opinion: Focus is better than Problem by a lot of factors to me.

It was over after Me & U was off the charts. Although I do love a few other songs after it like Long Way 2 Go, Is It You?, and Official Girl. Everything else was eh, bad, or easily forgotten.
