Even if this isn't peaking next month when the album is released, I definitely think it's a smarter move for an act like The Band Perry to have their new music drop during the holiday season as oppose to in Q1 of 2016. I believe they'll still sell well enough even if "Live Forever" isn't anywhere near the top to justify releasing it before the new year starts.

I wonder if they keep the November 20 date, if this could be a problem (if it turns out to be true): "Major artists are changing their release dates to avoid clashing with Adele's new album. A slew of acts including Ellie Goulding, Little Mix, One Direction and Justin Bieber are set to put out albums next month but they've moved their release dates forward so they aren't engaged in a chart battle with the superstar, whose third studio album is scheduled to be released on November 20. A music industry insider said: ''Adele's album is coming and it's likely to be an epic release. ''The major labels have realised it's essential they get out any big releases before then because from November 20, it's very likely to be about one woman only. She will dominate pre-Christmas sales. ''That's why Justin Bieber, Kylie Minogue and 1D are going head-to-head the week before - usually the record companies would want a No1 album with artists that big but in this case they simply want to get the album out there before Adele.'' The album - tentatively titled '25' - will be the 'Rolling In The Deep' hitmaker's first album since 2011's '21', which went on to shift 30 million copies, meaning she's a real threat to other acts hoping to find chart success at the same time. And her release means some artists have had their albums delayed until next year because record labels believe they would be easily overshadowed." source www.contactmusic.com/adele/news/artists-changing-release-dates-to-avoid-adele_4967747

"Rolling In The Deep," "Rumor Has It," "Set Fire To The Rain," "Someone Like You". It was literally impossible to not hear these songs over the past 4-5 years. The album was gigantic (with 11 million copies sold in the USA alone to date).

I don't see how anyone who doesn't live in the middle of absolute nowhere wouldn't have at least heard of Adele. I mean do you not go out at all? Like even if you only listen to country radio in your car or country music in your spare time, her music is played all over the place and she sold 10 million copies of her last album in the U.S., lmao.

Is Adele releasing an album really going to hurt anyone else's sales though? Yeah it will probably block you from the #1 spot on Billboard, but if anything people might be more willing to pick up a few other releases while they get Adele's new album, especially some of the stronger pop releases like Justin Beiber.

One Direction is the only British artist in history to have their first 4 albums debut at #1, they want that 5th, especially if this "might" be the last one, or at least the last one before their reign as the top boyband starts to decline as all boybands do after 5 years no matter how big they are. Bieber's album is his big comeback and he has alot to prove now that he is an adult artist. Both 1D and Justin want that #1 spot. I just don't see why 1 of them couldn't release on Nov 6 and one Nov 13. Are there any big artists releasing Nov 6?
But no one can compete with Adele. No female (other than Taylor's 1989) has sold the way her "21" album did since Shania released "Come On Over" in 1997. To not have heard of Adele or even know of her music...wow...do you not go to retail stores? I can't go to a grocery store or a mall or anywhere you spend money that plays Muzak that doesn't play her songs to death! That's not something I'd admit, lol, that's like saying "Who is Madonna" or "Who is Beyonce" at this point. When "21" came out avoiding Adele's music was not possible. Even aliens galaxies away where probably saying "Its good but enough already!"
Back to the chart. I think spots #1-3 will be Adele, 1D, and Bieber thru early January at the very least. No other release could touch any of them. Heck Carrie might not even get a #1 debut cause the next big boyband from Australia, 5SOS, is releasing their album Oct 23. They just did a sold out US Arena tour and their first album last year debuted #1 with 300K I believe. This will be the biggest Quarter for music albums in years. Last year it was just "1989" but this year there will be multiple mega releases. It's a great thing for the music industry no matter what the genre is.
The Band Perry is smart to wait to next year!

I was kind of forgetting about all of the big non-country album releases when I said it would be best for TBP to put their album out before the year's end, but maaaaaybe that's not the best move after all. It's tough because I do think having it out for the holidays would be good for their sales, but it's also going to be a bloodbath this particular 4th quarter so who knows anymore.

I think it's a bad idea to release the album before the end of the year, tbh. It's going to be a bloodbath and Live Forever isn't doing well at all so why would they want to come out with an album when people aren't noticing the single?
I think a January release would be wise but that is just my two cents. :)

Yeah it will probably block you from the #1 spot on Billboard, but if anything people might be more willing to pick up a few other releases while they get Adele's new album, especially some of the stronger pop releases like Justin Beiber. You do know many people can't afford to buy several albums in one month, right? Music is still expensive for many and sales keep dying each year, if someone chooses to buy Adele's album and not Bieber's because they don't have that much money to spend in two albums, then of course it will hurt Bieber's sales. Maybe buying multiple albums every month is something you do, but a lot of people, me included, don't because we're not that wealthy. Also, don't forget it's Thanksgiving month, people will spend a lot of money on other things. One Direction is the only British artist in history to have their first 4 albums debut at #1, they want that 5th, especially if this "might" be the last one, or at least the last one before their reign as the top boyband starts to decline as all boybands do after 5 years no matter how big they are. I have read Bieber is bitter about One Direction's release. I don't know how they ended up releasing on the same day, maybe they didn't know, maybe they're both trying to see who wins, maybe they're waiting for someone to give up but they're all too stubborn. Now it's too late anyway. Of course every artist wants a #1 album. Ellie Goulding, Tim McGraw, Sara Barailles and Bob Dylan are apparently all set to release on November 6. Cee Lo Green releases on Nov 13, but Bieber's only competition on that day is 1D. Maybe the lack of competition is why both acts picked that date, again, not knowing the other was going to release. There are many big names that might release this fall, so expect November and December to be packed. Don't forget the christimas albums. I saw that 5SOS will release the same day as Carrie, there's a good chance they'll block her from #1. They have a huge fanbase that is extremely loyal and obsessed.

Someone might not be inclined to buy anything until a huge mega release like Adele's comes out, and while purchasing hers they might wonder "What else has come out lately". Many people are impulse buyers and operate in this manner. I don't think there's anything to be scared of unless your #1 goal is top Billboard's album chart.

Oh my, the hijacking of this thead! To go along with that, I think Adele releases basic music, I don't get why people go crazy about her, but I suppose it's a matter of what one likes.

Adele can sing her ass off and you know she means what she sings, she has a pleasant and unique voice, her lyrics are relatable to pretty much everyone, she oozes charisma, everyone will have their own reason but those are the ones everyone who likes her would agree on. I also think your fave releases the most basic and unoriginal music, see minimal talent in him, don't get what people can ever see in him, but you know, to each its own.

Based on the poor reception to "Live Forever" and a stacked Q4, I think TBP would be wise to release their album in 2016.
Perhaps waiting to release this album would give them time to release a second single.
I just don't think releasing this year would be a wise move for them, if they're counting on "Live Forever" to move album sales.

I'm pretty confident that "Live Forever" won't be hitting the top 10 and even top 15 will be a chore. This song has lost over 50 total spins the past seven days and if it wasn't for Westwood One, it would have lost some audience as well. The album title and artwork being released now with a tentative date makes sense since I think Republic knows this hasn't gone as well as they would have liked on the airplay charts. I think a second single being released at the album drop would be the best course of action.

Since this is country thread, I might as well mentions that rumors is Adele's new album will have country influences :) Really? That's interesting. I heard she worked with Max Martin on this one. Live Forever is, once again, stuck in the late 20s. Who knows if the song will even reach the top 20 by November 20th. Maybe if they perform it at the CMA Awards it will move faster, but as of now it hasn't been moving at all. I think it's risky to release this this year and expect Live Forever to carry it, not only because of chart performance and competition but also because the song itunes performance isn't the best.

I'm sure they've got better material they could work on and bring that magical old TBP touch to it... but... I'm afraid it's too late ... I can't unsee emojis and the album's cover art now, it's killing me... HEART :| + :| BEAT

LOL, the fact I don't like Adele, is not reason for you to freely attack Thomas Rhett. And anyway, he's not my fave, I prefer Tori Amos, Morning Musume, Anthony Neely, Matt Cardle, Idan Haviv, Ott Lepland and many others. Please next time, just let my opinion be, and move on. I was not even attacking The Band Perry, since this is their thread :) As for Adele, I do think her music is basic. She might connect with people just because of that, I don't care. *I* don't like her. And like everyone else, anything I post is an opinion, unless I say "And it's a fact"

So glad this song is stalling on the charts!! Now only if Zac Brown Band's terrible EDM song "Beautiful Drug" would fall.
