I don't know why, but based on the cover art and their confidence in the song, I'm expecting something similar to "Real Life" from Jake Owen. I'm also not expecting it to include any country instruments, unfortunately.

And I don't really expect this to be country sounding if from what I'm hearing that Pharell Williams is producing their new CD.

I hope that single cover dies young.

I got confused and was all excited that "Live Forever" was LBT's new song. The cover makes me feel like they may be going a different route in terms of their style this era - it reminds me of Walk The Moon's, "Shut Up and Dance."

I think the single cover looks great. It's aesthetically pleasing, the font is inoffensive and simple, and they're making it obvious that this next release is going to be a musical shift for them. They want to show everyone that they're multi-dimensional; the artwork for this alone already puts their money where their mouths have been.

Any quarter of the year which includes new CDs from these folks, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, George Strait and Carrie Underwood is certainly a quarter to celebrate in a sea of bro-country stuff; at least SOME of the format's A-listers will be cranking out some great new music this holiday season.

You mention bro-country is nearly every single post of yours. This is The Band Perry's thread, there's no need to bring it up. I'm beginning to think you're a closet bro-country fan with how much you bash it in every thread. You don't need to bring it up in every thread, everyone is aware by now that you're not a fan of that sub-genre.

Well, the guys have been needing a revamping since they first came out, so there's a silver lining on that cover. And I'll wait for the song to say something, although I'm a little concerned too.

If I Die Young, how am I supposed to Live Forever?
In all seriousness, the cover scares me, as I'm cautious about the direction they're heading towards, but I'll reserve judgment until I hear the song.

"That single cover is exactly what I picture when I think country music band" - said no one ever. Like zack97, I'll reserve judgment until I actually hear the song, but I'm expecting a song that isn't country-sounding whatsoever.

I'll have to echo the sentiments above...that single cover is atrocious if only because it resembles nothing of what or who The Band Perry is or at least has tried to represent. And who are those two guys? Is there a bro-country camp going on underground that we're not aware of? Going to keep my expectations low for this new single just in case.

Nothing personal here against you (I promise it's not) but I am so so so sick of bro country being talked about in every topic. My god, for a group of people who dislike it so much, it is talked about more than anything. This is the Band Perry who has never had a song that is even close to bro country. The single does not look like bro country (if anything Pop from the 2000s). I get that it's a sub genre that people dislike, but maybe we can lessen the mentions of it when they're really not needed.

It was a tongue in cheek joke referencing the drastic makeover and change in appearance with Reid and Neil.

They look like mini clones of Diplo, not anybody in the bro country movement.

I'm excited to hear this. Hopefully it won't be too big of a sonic departure from them that I won't like, but I've liked almost all of their past material very much. I love that single cover though. It looks great, to me.

They want to show everyone that they're multi-dimensional; the artwork for this alone already puts their money where their mouths have been. THIS. I can appreciate this, I first hated the cover art and have feared the worst in terms of what the song will sound like. However, your description of the cover has actually put me at ease...lol. If they are truly trying to show how they are 'multi-dimensional' then I can appreciate that. From what I have heard about the song, it sounds like it will skew from a more country sound. (Well, most songs nowadays do), but as long as they can include something that will prove they came from country roots (whether it be somewhere in this song or somewhere on the new album) I will be satisfied. I am all for artists trying new sounds especially as less seasoned artists. It just worries me that all of this is happening in the country market. And to think, I've never ever had a problem with Shania. Ever. But, anyone else blurring the lines seems to nearly send me over the edge.

Wait does this mean TBP is going pop? Is that what that sentence suggests or is there something I'm missing here?

Seeing as Big Machine owns Republic Nashville I'm assuming that if Republic Records is tweeting about it that they're gonna be helping to promote it to Pop radio? Link

My friend got to see The Band Perry a few weeks ago and she says that the band played 3 songs from the new album and wouldn't say what the name of the songs were. She told me that the band and their management people had them put their phones away and not take any video of the songs being played. My friend said the following, none of the songs they played from the new record were remotely country, especially "Live Forever" as it's very poppy and don't even reflect Country Music. My friend when she saw the title get revealed the other day on their Facebook, she did now know which one they picked as she remembers the title from the song's lyrics.

Then why are they releasing it to country radio? Also it says ZBB will have "Beautiful Drug" cross from country to pop...will they release that one to country to?
This is just turning into a big joke and it amazes me how much the music is getting disrespected.

If this IS as pop as everyone suggests and is still being sent to Country radio, I wouldn't be surprised if the main mix was poppy and there was an alternative country mix sent to Country radio - similar to Taylor's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Ugh...why just why? Why these guys feel the need to go Pop? Their biggest hit was a quiet Country tune!!! And they haven't even come close to matching that success yet!
It's not that I mind them trying out Pop, but for God's sake, do it in the right genre!!!

The single cover definitely screams crossover. I can't find one "country" thing about it. ???

And to think all that If I Die Young needed to cross over was a heavy dance beat and electric guitar that stripped that song's intimacy away.
