Give or take. Not bad not good. Like he could've choosed Buzzin but there were better choices.

I don't really have a reaction either way. I would have much rather seen "Just South Of Heaven" or "Good Country Song" released, but I understand why this is the next single. It's gonna sell well and should fairly easily extend his #1 streak.

Yeah I feel indifferently about this one as well. I'm sure I'll grow to enjoy it since it's very inoffensive. But man, I was really hoping for "Bringing Back The Sunshine" to kind of open things up. Seems like we haven't had a full on rocker from Blake since "Boys 'Round Here".

I love this. My favorite uptempo on the album, so I'm glad they went with this. I also would've accepted the title track as well, though I like that one just a bit less (still a nice tune though). Would've loved one of the killer ballads that he has on this record, but I couldn't see them releasing a ballad after "Lonely Tonight" and "Sangria," so this was a wise choice, imo.

Yes! This is one of my favorite songs on the album, and I think it's a perfect single choice following Sangria.

Catchy upon first listen but it well probably wear thin in me considering how unremarkable the lyrics are

I hated sangria and this is just ok. Really wanted " just south of heaven" instead

Boring. Typical, non-boundary pushing, non-chance taking Blake song.

Sonny James' record of having sixteen in a row (1967-1971) will be equaled by Blake Shelton (2010-2015) with Gonna.

I can only utter what most have said above. This isn't the best song on the album, but since the album came out...this one has grown on me. It fits perfectly on radio, but there were definitely songs that were better. I'm kind of surprised that "Just Gettin' Statrted" wasn't picked. It's uptempo, fun, and with the way Blake is climbing the charts - it could peak just before summer's end. I am just so thankful that "Buzzin'" wasn't chosen. I can't stand that song.

Only eight more weeks left to summer. I know Blake Shelton sends singles up the chart fast, but not THAT fast.

Usually I'm one that doesn't think it's a big deal to release a song that has a similar name to a recent hit single from another artist, but I agree with not releasing "Just Gettin' Started" since Jason Aldean just had a #1 single of the same exact name, this calendar year.

It still played a factor in Warner determining the fourth single, especially when Jason's song is still getting fairly significant recurrent play. It's okay to give me an example in this decade.

Possibly because I absolutely despise the song. And I can think of two songs in this decade, but as sabre14 said, a side conversation such as this would derail the thread. :)

It looks like "Gonna" could end the day in the top 5 most added songs on MB, so I'm assuming an official announcement on this being Blake's next single will come later today or tonight in Aircheck and/or Billboard.

This is selling terribly on iTunes. Just about everything on the Mediabase chart is selling way better than this, with the exceptions of "Country," "Drunk Dial," "Mph Town," and "Drinkin' Town." Of course, these other songs are being heard by several million fewer people than "Gonna" based on the Mediabase all-stations audience numbers. These sales are about as bad as Kenny Chesney's "Til It's Gone," which ended up selling something like 90k by the time it had peaked. Blake's album sales aren't really holding up to the other format stars right now, either. Bringing Back the Sunshine did go Gold and has sold over 400k copies, but it's being far out-sold by the albums Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, and Florida Georgia Line released last fall, as well as Luke's three-year-old Crash My Party. B-list acts Eric Church, Little Big Town, Brantley Gilbert, and Kacey Musgraves are also selling way more records, and even Cole Swindell and Chase Rice are slightly higher on the Billboard Country Albums chart than Blake although their albums are way older.
That being said, I'm not yet convinced this one will miss #1. Blake Shelton almost always performs his singles on The Voice which usually drives sales a lot for several weeks, so I'm sure when the new season begins this fall he'll immediately get in a performance of "Gonna" which could help the sales. In addition, the charts are just so light right now and a lot of singles have had lackluster sales lately. This has the advantage of being inoffensive, upbeat, radio filler material that fits the sound radio looks for. Programmers really love Blake and I'm sure they'll want to show as much support as they can in the wake of his divorce, so as long as this doesn't have terrible research, I can see it being used as a filler and having a quick, quiet run to #1. It won't be one of the hits Blake is remembered for nor will it get much recurrent airplay six months from now, but I'm not ready to say it'll be the one to snap Blake's #1 streak.

Don't like this. The instrumentation is uninspiring to say the least, and the song isn't catchy enough for me to overlook it. And the hey hey all right bit is quite annoying. I think this is typical radio fodder, nothing more. I'm not a fan of Blake by any means, but he can do better. This does not sound like a #1 to me, but since it's sung by Blake, it probably will be.

This was a bad choice for a single. It's catchy, but a song titled "Gonna" just isn't gonna stand out. And I think the title is a problem in itself. People will hear this on the radio and know it's Blake, but if they aren't big fans of his or don't buy a lot of albums, they might have trouble figuring out what this song is called. I mean, if I was hearing this for the first time, I would never guess that it was simply titled "Gonna" (for the record, I think Easton Corbin could face a similar problem with "Yup").
Simply put, the hook is extremely weak here. I absolutely loved "Sangria" -- it had that great dark/wistful feel to its production -- but "Gonna" is just...blah. I don't actually hate this song, but no one is going to remember this one in a year or two. I highly doubt it makes much of an impact even though it'll be an automatic top 3 hit, if not a #1. I'm really disappointed that they didn't release "Bringing Back The Sunshine" or "Just South Of Heaven". With "Bringing Back The Sunshine" being featured prominently by NASCAR, I'm actually quite shocked that they didn't go with that one. I guess releasing that one would have made too much sense?

Ahh but that's why we have an app called Shazam! Lol But yeah I agree with you, this isn't a very memorable single. Also, even though Chase's song isn't that big of a hit, I could see some confusion between "Gonna" and "Gonna Wanna Tonight".

I guess I never thought about the title being not overtly obvious to the casual listener, and I have noticed the low early sales for this, but if "Til It's Gone" could have a smooth ride to the top, I'm sure Blake will do just fine with this inoffensive number. It probably won't be remembered much at all, but I love this song so personally I am looking forward to hearing it on the radio a lot. I am also a bit surprised that the title cut wasn't picked instead since the promo for that being used in NASCAR is a pretty sweet deal.
