it could end up as another Kiss You and I'm not here for that. Kiss You is their best video imo but I see your point

I would like their videos to finally reflect their songs. "Night Changes" was a good start.

Debuts at #3 on the Hot 100, biggest debut of the year and highest since Shake It Off. #1 on Digital Songs with 349K, biggest sales week for them for Live While We're Young.

Wow! Up to #21 today with a 1757 Bullet (+931!) This has a good chance at making the top 20 tomorrow! This song is still on fire! I'm hearing it constantly on both Pop radio stations here and the last time that happened with 1D was for SOML. This song is going to be that big! Loving this!

Yeah, I agree that this will become their third bonafide radio smash after "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Story Of My Life."

More or less all their songs (specially the first singles) skyrocket at least for two or three weeks. It's the mark of the month and a half what makes What makes you beautiful and Story of my life a totally different story. If the song is going strong in its 45 day on chart, then it will be their third big hit. The song is still strong on itunes which should be a good sign for them

Their songs do tend to have very similar chart runs. Of their 11 songs to make the pop chart, two have made the Top 10 while the other 9 peaked in the #21-#12 range.
What makes you beautiful - #4 (20 weeks on) One thing - #12 (17) Live while we're young - #15 (12) Little things - #17 (12) Kiss you - #19 (9) Best song ever - #16 (12) Story of my life - #4 (21) You and I - #21 (11) Steal my girl - #17 (8) Night changes - #13 (22) Drag Me Down - #21+

With 2 recurrents in front of them tonight, DMD will end up at #19 this week. It would have been #18 but it barely missed jumping Jason Derulo by 53 spins. They could catch up to their former opening act, 5SOS (will be 15), by the end of the week if his song keeps gaining so well! I'm loving that both artists are having such success on radio now.

The power buying is what drove the debut to #3. As the airplay keeps gaining it will level out and climb again. That's what happened with "Story of My Life" and "What Makes You Beautiful." So it's not a flop. The debut wasn't a normal debut for any artist cause most new songs don't generate that most sales in the first week. It'll be fine.

What Makes You Beautiful, Story of my Life, and Night Changes were only 1D songs that actually ended up getting lots of airplay and not flopping
Songs like Best Song Ever, Live While Were Young, Steal My Girl, Midnight Memories, Diana, and maybe probably Drag Me Down as well, all ended up slowly flopping each week afterwards with not a lot of Airplay. I think Drag Me Down will end up flopping and getting old and boring very soon as well.
That is why I always say people like One Direction, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, and Drake are Overrated. They never had any songs reach Number 1. And I am not counting songs they featured in. I know probably Drake and Nicki became Number 1 when they were featured on a song, but not as a lead single.
And that is why I say guys like Flo Rida and Pitbull are Underrated. They have had lots of Number 1s but they barely ever get mentioned in anything.

Well I think DMD will end up being one of their biggest charting songs with a good shelf life. We'll see whose right in the end. Yeah, I agree that this will become their third bonafide radio smash after "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Story Of My Life." Thank you!

I've been listening to this off and on since it came out. I wanted to wait to comment on it since I turned their last lead single off less than halfway through the first time I listened to it and it ended up REALLY growing on me.
Today, I think it finally clicked and this gets a thumbs up. I was taken aback initially by how relatively "unplugged" it sounds compared to most of their other songs, and the pause in "nobody can drag me --- down" was a point of irritation, but as a whole I do like it. The chorus was a bit anticlimactic on the first few listens, but it actually ends up reducing its burn rate imo over more listens. It's probably my 3rd favorite lead from them after WMYB and SMG.
As for it being a solid radio hit in the end, I'd say it's a definite possibility, although not certain. Probably about 70/30.

I can see Drag Me Down being one of 1D's radio hits. The song gets catchier with every listen.

Any word on when a music video is going to be released? or even filmed? It was filmed at NASA in Houston. They are going to have it out within a week or so. Liam mentioned it on stage last night.

Throw this in with "You & I" as their worst video. Why must their videos always be about irrelevant crap?.

I see nothing wrong with the video myself. The space idea made sense to me and I thought it was pretty well done. It's a lot less random than the videos for "Steal My Girl" or "You & I" imo.

The video isn't awful, but it's kinda underwhelming for how good the song is. Oh well.

I watched it earlier on my phone from work. Now that I'm home I watched on my computer! Wow I just love this. It kinda has a throwback BSB/NSync feel to it and I LOVE that! This is my 2nd favorite from them. The SOML video will always be my sentimental favorite.
