Sigh. I hope this has success only so that they will release another single (It Was Always You)

I thought they cancelled this release. I Love this song so I'm happy they didn't. I like "It Was Always You" but I don't get the hype around it from many members on this board. To tell you the truth I don't actually dislike anything on "V".

I also hope they'll promote it more. I knew the release date was September 15 and I'm not seeing it on Itunes top 100

I also hope they'll promote it more. I knew the release date was September 15 and I'm not seeing it on Itunes top 100 That's because the song is very far from the top 100, 857 right now. And yes, It was always you should be a single, way better than This summer...

And, they haven't even mentioned this song on their twitter page or website, yet.
I wonder if they have a Voice performance planned...

This truly seems like the most random release ever by them.

This truly seems like the most random release ever by them. I kind of agree because I thought they would have called it quits after "Summer" underperformed. Then this got rumored to be a single but was then rumored to be canned but I think Hot AC started playing immeditaly so I guess they went with it??? I Love it so I'm happy it's a single. It's extremely catch and I can see it doing well. Even if "Pulse" thinks otherwise lol. Maybe they will sing it in the future on The Voice when the live shows start?

I don't know if you guys are thinking of this because of me, but there was no rumors of this being canceled. I was the one that stated I felt like it would because they weren't promoting it before the adds date. But they were always going to push this.

I really want this to be another big hit for them, only as an incentive to release "It Was Always You" as the 6th & final single from V.

There was never any plan to cancel this. The campaign was always planned to have 5 singles. The only thing that changed that either this or whatever was originally penciled in for the 4th got switched.

Right - the first adds date was pulled, then relisted for a later date.

Now that it's debuted and has been on the chart for a few weeks, I don't think this will do any better than "Sunday Morning"/"Never Gonna Leave This Bed"/"Won't Go Home Without You" did.

I realized it's the chorus that wrecks this. The verses and pre-chorus are pretty catchy admittedly.

#187 on iTunes
Glad they're finally starting to acknowledge and promote it. It was only last week when they even mentioned it on their twitter, so as far as I'm concerned that's the official beginning, regardless of when it went for adds.

Atrocious callout; comes in with the lowest favorite and highest negative (a whopping 41.9). The net positive is actually in the negative (-6.7) a la Bubble Butt & I Really Like You.
This'll be done any day.

This'll be done any day. Maybe it's his falsetto during the chorus? I can't imagine it offending people like a "Bubble Butt", "I Really Like You" or something like Jason Derulo's "Wiggle" Is this a Maroon 5 backlash?

It's likely the falsetto.
The 'backlash' shit reads more wishful thinking and the personal issues of those making the comments than anything else. Locked Away being a big radio hit recently with Adam singing the hook says otherwise.

They still have time to turn the performance on The Voice into one for It Was Always You!

While I'll admit this has grown on me a lot, I can see why it has awful callouts.

There's no real point in IWAY now, especially after 2 singles that missed the expected mark. The V project is a success. 3 hits, including one of the biggest of the year with Sugar, an additional top 10 on CHR on their record, plus a Platinum album (with over a million actually sold) is an excellent result for an act past the decade mark of their breakthrough.
They've tossed out a GH set internationally, so the next we'll hear of them is either a new album or an Adam Levine solo album (neither of which I can really see happening until next fall at the very very earliest).

"If you want me take me home and let me use you." Ugh, that's like some straight up 1950's level misogyny. Their lyrics this era on the singles as a whole have been atrocious all around. Adam either comes off like a horny teenage boy, an idiot misogynist, or a creepy sexual predator on all of them except Maps.
