And now this one has fallen off too. We going to see a rebound or is this a double misfire? What makes you say it has fallen off? I never saw it chart on MB so following it has been tough. It got a decent spike in iTunes today though.

^He's referring to the Billboard Country Airplay chart, where this dropped out of the Top 60 this week.
I'm not surprised at all to see this failing. It's frankly just a terrible song. It's not catchy, it doesn't sound good, and the lyrics are just mind-numbing. Unfortunately there's just not a lot of strong material on Tyler's album. "Withdrawals" was by far the best track, and "Suffer in Peace" and "Damn Good Friends" are decent, although SIP is probably less radio-friendly than "Withdrawals" and surely wouldn't do anything for Farr now that he's lost all his momentum, and I don't think Broken Bow would give Sony the permission to release DGF. So Tyler's kind of in a tough spot right now after his label made the decision to pull "Withdrawals." Now all they can do is ride "Better in Boots" out and hope it can at least scrape the Top 40. I expect Tyler will take a long break after a quick chart run for this single and then move on to new material.

I think it's a little too early to say this one is struggling. I think by now we all know this would need a 40+ chart week for it do much of anything, so it falling off the chart a few spots during a busy period of new releases isn't really that surprising. This song may never hit #1, but I'm sure they can ride this safe tune to the top 30 if they're in it for the long haul.

"Better In Boots" is not failing. Sure, it could certainly still under-perform but it only went for adds three and a half weeks ago and is at #53 on the MB chart, just on the cusp of the top 50. This song (if its going to be a hit) will take a while to get going, which is something I brought up a few days ago in this thread. Columbia is going to put everything they have into promoting this song (especially since this single has got to work to salvage this album). Things might pick up for "Better In Boots" when Chase Rice's song finally gives up its chart fight, and the only other single they have worked to radio is Kenny's, but that one is fueling on Kenny's name recognition and great testing.
Tyler got 4 more adds this week and this song is still in its infancy. I personally hope it does fail since I agree that this song is terrible and deserves little success but it's still far too early to tell.

BIB had 911k in audience on last week's chart, which was good enough for a #57 position -- but this week it took in the 860 range just to make the top 60. So unless you consider a 50k loss for a new song a sign of failure, then no, this one isn't failing. Yet. There's still hope that it will (personal opinion) but I think it's likely to re-enter the BB chart next week, somewhere in the 55-57 range.
Still, it did lose some ground. There's a chance it will lose more. We need a new chart to figure this out.

Quite the difference in where this one sits, between MB and Billboard. "Better In Boots" currently sits at #51 on MB, whereas its at #60 on Billboard (without a bullet). I know this one has had a slow go at it so far but I'm fearful that this will end up having a very slow climb up the charts. Tyler's song got 6 new adds this week and its seen a steady increase in spins lately. The reason this one is at #51 on MB is the fact it has a large number of spins, along with the fact its on so many stations, with highly weighted stations spinning it. Every stations has this in light rotation, with tons of overnight spins...that's why its only at #60 on Billboard.
I've expressed before that I think this song is mediocre at best and hate that a superior song was pulled in favor for a song that is the essence of why I turn the dial every 10 minutes when listening to country radio. I'm hoping the crowded charts and crowded release schedule sinks this one before it starts.

"Better In Boots" increased nearly 400k in audience on MB this week, with about 75% of that coming from KSCS in Dallas who increased the song in rotation by 20 spins. It increased over 400k in audience on Billboard last week and jumped 5 spots to #55, so expect a similar gain this week.

^ Eh, triple post...forgive me, lol. I heard this on WYRK during their "Noon Tunes" request show this afternoon. The deejay (who's actually a friend of mine) said "been getting a ton of request for this new one from Tyler Farr"... This is literally the lamest song on the entire chart and never should have seen the light of day at radio.

"Better In Boots" cracks the MB top 40 this week at #39. I fear this one will end up being a slow climber for Tyler. Columbia's promotion staff is in this one for the long haul.

Sales have really improved with this one. A couple of weeks ago it wasn't even showing up in top 1,500 on iTunes, but now it's in the 500's despite any drastic airplay changes. Was this performed somewhere? I'm really hoping this can manage to be a #1, so I can kid myself and pretend they might release "Suffer In Peace" to close the era.

I hate to admit it but Randy Goodman and Sony Nashville made the right decision in pulling "Withdrawals" for "Better In Boots." I was hoping the slow start would be this one's downfall but "Better In Boots" has increased 360 spins and nearly 2.0 million in total audience over the past three weeks. Country radio is really starting to embrace this song. Like dm2081 mentioned above me, the sales have improved drastically -- whether that was by some circumstance that exposed it to a large audience outside of radio is unknown to me but that will only help Columbia's promotion staff sell this one to radio. This is looking to be a hit for Tyler.

Did Tyler perform this song anywhere? Because it made a 400 spot jump on the all-genre iTunes chart on November 28th and its currently in the top 10 of the Country iTunes chart.
"Better In Boots" gained 77 spins and nearly 800k in audience this week as Tyler moves up to #31 on MB this week, with "Break Up With Him" and "21" going recurrent later today.

Judge me, but I enjoy this song... a lot. It's just a fun, playful song and it's not to be taken seriously. It seems to be performing on the charts just about the same as "A Guy Walks Into A Bar" so far, so I'm predicting this will peak in the Top 5 around May.

I don't cringe anymore when this song comes on. The reason I was a little hesitant was because I thought this song was disrespectful and thought it to be a little Bro-Country , but really this song is not that. It's a song about boots. It is a great song also because it's one of the few songs written about boots.

I don't exactly "hate" this song or anything, but not one of my favorites. It's a fun song for what it is. I'm glad I read this thread, though, or I wouldn't have known about "Withdrawals". I went and listened to it and holy crap, that's a good song! Tyler's voice is very underrated in my opinion, due to some of the singles that have been released. He has a pretty unique voice, and a lot more command of it than what I realized.

By this one's pace it may actually peak by the springtime which is astonishing because they wanted an uptempo for the summer. At first it seemed stupid to pull "Withdrawals." But the more I think about it, I'm wondering if they did so in order to release "Suffer in Peace". There's no way that song could have followed "Withdrawals". But SIP could be a career song for anybody and I think Tyler nails it. Maybe that was their thinking when they pulled "Withdrawals"? Among other things I'm sure.

I have my doubts they will release another song. If they do I really hope it's the title track as that song is very strong.

I think they will release the Duet with Jason Aldean next. They'd need Broken Bow permission to release that and since I think Jason Aldean wil have a new song out soon I doubt they release that one.

I hate to be a pessimist, but I seriously doubt "Suffer In Peace" will be released next. The new guy at Sony has yet to pick a risky single and I don't see why he would change his plan now. Even Carrie Underwoods first two releases have probably been the safest and most radio friendly options from her new album. I also think this will at least have to hit the top 10 before they'd consider another single at this point. I could see them moving on to the next album era already if this underperforms, since this won't peak until at least April or May at the very earliest, which would be roughly one year after the album came out.

Tyler Farr is classically trained??? You'd never know by listening to him, that's for sure. He's such a weak vocalist. Actually, I've always assumed that he had no formal music lessons whatsoever, but to find out he was classically trained... I'm sorry he had a polyp though and I hope that his recovery goes quickly and smoothly.

I believe we discussed Tyler's past vocal training in the "Whiskey In My Water" thread.

Actually, I've always assumed that he had no formal music lessons whatsoever, but to find out he was classically trained... Yeah, I don't hear it either, lol. Like, he's on my short-list for worst male vocalists in the genre honestly. But from quickly reading up on what that phrase really means, it seems like all it really boils down to is that the guy knows more than the average bear about how to use his voice... but if that voice is pretty limited (and has a tone akin to gravel falling through a wood chipper), then I guess it doesn't amount to much in the end. Mo Pitney, for instance, probably isn't "classically-trained" or w/e, but he can sing this guy under the table with ease.

I'm curious by what you mean by this (the bolded part). I'm assuming you mean that it's less likely for someone with vocal training to suffer an injury like this, but I just wanted to make sure I was understanding it correctly. In any case, well wishes to Tyler. I'm not really a fan of his voice or his music, but hopefully his recovery goes well.

I know I've said it before, but I personally enjoy listening to Tyler over many other singers. The authenticity of his voice is real, and unlike some others, I don't think he needs to fake his twang or raspiness. I think Tyler has done good job picking songs and themes that fit his voice naturally, and that's why he had one of the best country albums last year IMO.

Yeah I have always some what liked Tyler's voice. It has an authentic grit to it and seems very authentic. I also liked how it's not clean cut and polished. That's what I like about his voice. I understand he's not everyone's cup of tea but I don't see anything inherently wrong with his voice
