I almost hope that is the album cover, just because it would be so hilariously bad!

It would appear that this tune obviously won't match the 13- week rise to #1 of'The Cowboy In Me as well as Felt Good On My Lips, but even reaching the penthouse in 21 weeks as did the wonderful Southern Voice is looking pretty unlikely as well.
Given the distinctive set of rules for bro-country tunes as it relates to streaking up the charts (9-12 weeks) vs. non-BC songs (25-30 or more weeks), it would appear that radio won't propel this up the charts as was the case with most of his singles from the mid-nineties until 2-3 years ago.

I'd guess the album will be called "Blank Canvas" or something like that.

He posted a simple enough graphic to his twitter followers showing the album's release date.... what's the big deal?

Is this done? They should go back to Sundown Heaven Town. Why would you think it's done? "Top Of The World" gained nearly 400 spins and 3.0 million in audience this week and another 500k in audience today. This one is still at the beginning of its run.

I like it a lot, too. I don't love it like Shotgun Rider, Diamond Rings or One Of Those Nights, but it's cool. I don't understand the comparisons to Lookin' For That Girl. We just can't seem to get past that... This song actually reminds me a lot of "One of Those Nights" as far as the music, groove and melody of the song. I don't really hear the negative aspect of the production that some are talking about.

This is a "better than the sum of its parts" song in my opinion. It's not an original idea by any means, but it's very tightly written, has a great melody (I like the way it emphasizes the word "got" in the chorus), and I think the production is actually quite minimalist.

He's writing Damn Country Music, a song written by Jessi Alexander, Cary Barlowe, and Josh Thompson. He's been performing it on tour. Attachment Deleted

If this ain't country then I don't know what it is then because it sure sounds like country music to me. The way he sings the song/his phrasing in particular is in a very throwback style similar to Blake Shelton's "Neon Light," i.e. Anyway, I absolutely love this song, especially the verses which carry that old school vibe for me. Definitely his best lead single in the past 8 years aside from "Better Than I Used to Be," imo.

There's drum loops, synthesizers, and etc... a lot of electronic/computerized stuff. I don't hear any traditional country instruments - fiddle, mandolin, steel, etc. That being said this is a new age of country music and that stuff is very uncommon unfortunately. This song really is starting to grow on me like most stuff does nowadays. I've been hearing it on the radio more which is probably why it's growing on me. I just added it to my iTunes library the other day. I refused to for a while since I didn't like it.

There's a drum loop at the very beginning but the rest of the song it at least sounds like a real drummer. The synth stuff is definitely in there but it seems to be used more for effect. The basic groove is formed by the bass, a Rhodes sounding keyboard and the electric guitar (which does have that weird sounding octave effect). You are certainly correct that it has no fiddle, steel, mandolin, Etc. When I hear "drum loop" I think more like Sam Hunt or Kelsea Ballerini and this certainly isn't to that level of electronica.

It's true that it isn't traditionally produced, but the melody, lyrics, vocal, and general vibe of the song is still very country. Like the presence of those modern elements doesn't bother me at all on this one. I think it's sonically more country than "Felt Good on My Lips," for instance.

I really hate the album cover. It makes no sense. Well, he said this in the Taste of Country article: ...and he said this in an article on The Boot: Which aside from being very refreshing to hear (and I hope he follows through, which I know he will)...that kind of sheds some light on the title and the picture. Obviously I'm not claiming to know his thought process, but to me he is in a box. He's in a box with "damn country music" that stuff that's constantly changing and that everyone is out to critique on a daily basis. To me, the box represents either: A) Tim is stuck in a box that's defined by his own damn country music and if he leaves it, he'll be "in trouble as an artist" or B) Tim feels alienated at this time of tension and change with this damn country music that he's just stuck inside this box on his own. I'm also really glad it didn't turn out to be the title I was anticipating after he teased the first word: "Damn Girl (Because Borchetta Said I Had To)"

Love the title, not cover.

I dishearteningly agree that this wonderful tune won't spent multiple weeks at #1 and conceivably match the year-end 5-week run of such standouts as his own his wonderful 'I've Come To Expect It From You', as well as Tim's equally wonderful My Next Thirty Years, a superb Phil Vassar-written tune. Oh, well! My Next Thirty Years appeared on two consecutive Tim McGraw releases: A Place In The Sun and the first of a billion greatest hits CDs. In fact, it was during this time McGraw and Curb Records were having problems. McGraw wanted his next studio album released called Set This Circus Down. Instead, Curb released Greatest Hits. Here is the chart where McGraw was tops: BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING DECEMBER 16, 2000: 1. MY NEXT THIRTY YEARS-TIM MCGRAW-CURB 2. We Danced-Brad Paisley-Arista 3. Without You-Dixie Chicks-Monument 4. Born To Fly-Sara Evans-RCA 5. Best Of Intentions-Travis Tritt-Columbia 6. I Lost It-Kenny Chesney-BNA 7. Just Another Day In Paradise-Phil Vassar-Arista 8. www.memory-Alan Jackson-Arista 9. Tell Her-Lonestar-BNA 10. The Little Girl-John Michael Montgomery-Atlantic

I like this miles better than TOTW, much better song and would've been a better lead single choice IMO.

Can we please get "California" with Big & Rich next for single #2? It's extremely fresh sounding, modern and radio friendly, and one of the better songs I've heard from Tim.

I like it, too (wasn't expecting to) but someone posted on Facebook that a video for Humble and Kind has been made and will be released at Christmas time. Tim has said frequently in recent interviews how much he likes the song - so, I think it will be the next single.

I hope Humble and Kind is next and then Love Runs after that. Top of the World has grown on me and I like it better now than I did a few months ago.

So do I, and I'm looking forward to playing the heck out of his CD starting tomorrow, and congratulations are in order for knocking on the door of the top 10 once again with another nice tune.
2015 was a great year for him, and getting away from Mike Curb has done wonders for him.
