I remember this song being hysterically funny, and that a lot of radio stations banned it for being
offensive to the mentally ill. An early example of political correctness.

One of the weirdest songs to appear on the Hot 100 in 1966, peaked at #3. And at #4 in the UK.
I seriously have no idea what to make of it
