This album is SO GOOD!!! I think it's her most cohesive body of work with only maybe like 1 filler song (??).
Her only other albums that come close to me are J.Lo and Rebirth. The rest have too much filler, though I've never listened to all of A.K.A. to make an assessment on that.

I just watched TIMN again. This is probably my favorite thing she’s ever done and it showcases all of her talents beautifully. I’m gonna need her to do another one with all her greatest hits. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if other big names started making movies like this with their new releases.
I was very hesitant when she announced she was releasing a new album and when the first preview came out but she absolutely killed it!

Kinda wish the movie streams would count towards her first week numbers.
Album is growing a lot on me. I do wish the alternate covers would also be available on Apple Music.

Sad but I guess I’m not terribly surprised with the low streaming numbers and no real hit the public has latched onto. Was hoping it would at least be top 20 😕

Why would anyone be surprised? Her last album was 10 years ago that didn’t do well and she’s not been consistent at all with her music career this past decade to keep an audience interested. Streaming also doesn’t skew towards older acts.
I’m just happy that she actually did have the balls to release a new album knowing what she was up against. There’s about a handful in her peer group that are even bothering to put out new albums these days.
She put out one of her best albums 30+ years into her career, a great film to go with it and her tour is already selling out on pre-sale. If this is her last era in music, then she went out on a high 👏🏻.
ETA
Must also be noted that this is an independent release & 20 million was put into the film that she financed which Amazon then went and bought for 50 million. She’s already made more money from this era than she’s ever had for any of her previous successful eras. And she’s not even toured yet. That’s really impressive imo. She should be proud that she bet on herself and it paid off.

I hope this enters the Billboard Hot 100 this week. With the movie and promo, it should push it.

I hope this enters the Billboard Hot 100 this week. With the movie and promo, it should push it. Wait...this missed the Hot 100 completely?? Nooooo. Jenny deserves much better, especially with this project! Also, P4K's review was pretty fair. Their only complaint was that her relationship with Ben overshadows the music, but...it's pretty much a concept album about her finding love with him again, so... pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/jennifer-lopez-this-is-me-now/

I feel bad this is flopping into complete oblivion since its apparently her best work in years. At least the movie is getting great reviews and I’m sure the tour will do great.

I will be surprised if this album doesn’t make top 20. When the album was announced last month, there were lots of variants that sold out within an hour. Granted I don’t know how many of those variants were produced, this would be horrible if it doesn’t make top 20

#28 with 21k SPS (16k sales) per HITS. I thought she might crack 25k max but it's a respectable debut considering AKA flopped a decade ago.

No way the very expensive film and promo tour were worth it with those numbers. I'm sure the tour will do fine though. But I'm fairly sure this is also gonna be her last album for a while as well because honestly other than a couple throwaway singles to keep her name out there, the expense isn't worth it.

This auto-played when I finished a listen through TIMN. I missed when this song came out in the pandemic haze, but it's so good!

No way the very expensive film and promo tour were worth it with those numbers. It was. 50 million dollars worth it. She funded the film herself and Amazon bought it. The only money spent was hers that she already recouped + made bank. I’d argue that the film and selling it to a streamer was the driving force into her even releasing another album. She said she didn’t just want to release videos the normal way…yeah, because there’s no money in that. She knew going in radio and streaming would be a road block so she found a way around it to still make money with her album. A brilliant business move tbh. The tour is an added bonus$.

I’ve seen nothing showing how much Amazon paid for this, nor that they paid anything over what it cost to make. Is there a source you’re using? I don’t doubt they paid big bucks, but I don’t think she profited. I don’t think she would mention using her own $20 million if she were banking tens of millions more. I think she mentions it as a passion project no matter what the cost. I am surprised at how low the album will debut; however, my issue with her music now is that it hasn’t matured. Exactly to what audience is she trying to reach with this music? Her issue musically is that she’s never progressed or matured into a different sound. So her audience didn’t grow with her. So I think that explains the dismal start. It sure isn’t for lack of trying cause she’s worked her butt off this past month.

I’ve seen nothing showing how much Amazon paid for this, nor that they paid anything over what it cost to make. Is there a source you’re using? Amazon wouldn't disclose, but industry insiders reported it to be 50 million. And Jennifer would not sell it for less than what it cost. LOL! Okay!. You're kidding yourself if you think Jennifer Lopez, the businesswoman that she is didn't make sure she profited from this. She gave Amazon their biggest streaming hit last year, (along with Netflix) and no doubt used that as a bargaining chip to her advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix wanted to buy it also as she has two more movies coming with them this year already and "The Mother" was HUGE. No, I actually don't think she would ever comfortably mention spending 20 million if she didn't make more. Nobody would. But are you really though? I don't understand exactly what numbers people were expecting here from a 54 year old whose last album was a decade ago that performed poorly?. Call me crazy, but I find 28k on an independent release from a 54 year old respectable when you have A.listers out here like Doja Cat with the biggest song in the world debuting with 60k. How hasn't it? This album fits very well into Hot AC. The lyrics are also mature and the album centers on a woman ending up with her one true love and past relationship & personal traumas. How much more mature was she supposed to get to hit the maturity bar?. Her fans...?. She's not trying to reach Gen Z. She wanted to make one final album with a musical film + tour as a final bow on her music career. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think the film was a great business move and probably got the album dozens of places higher than it would’ve debuted. I’d be curious what other artists see this as a path forward for launching an album if they’re been struggling for a bit. Not everyone has the showman ship of jlo. I know her heart isn’t in right now but I could see Britney being incredible with a project like this and honestly more open to that than anything else

I listened to the album earlier, it’s not bad overall, even if it suffers from the worst trait an album can have (in my book): nearly all the songs sound alike. But then TIIMT wasn’t that dissimilar in that sense, and it’s pretty cohesive and the closest thing Jennifer Lopez has in her catalog to a good album. TIIMN works well as a companion piece to TIIMT, chronicling her current status… being in love and together with Ben finally after all these years. It’s definitely a good album to end her career as a recording artist. Will need to listen to it more to decide on highlights, but aside from the title track (the horrid vocal renders it almost unlistenable to me, but the track itself isn’t anything to write home about melodically either), I enjoyed all songs. I didn’t get around to watching the film yet, but I will when I find the time. 😊

This is by far one of her most consistent albums. I really like it as a whole, although it does suffer a bit from not having too many big standouts (this might change after a few more listens). The first couple songs give me early 2000's nostalgia that I always appreciate. I didn't expect huge numbers, but I'm always rooting for J.Lo as a pop star, and hope that she's proud of the album. I still need to watch the film, but I have no doubt that I'll love it once I do lol.
I hope the tour does well for her. The tickets are a bit out of my price range right now, but if there end up being discounts down the line I might splurge.

I don’t think she lost money on the film but probably didn’t make much either, I doubt that was the ultimate goal. The 50M figure was definitely in the generous ballpark (these executives are not dummies), and considering taxes and other stakeholders, she probably took home a few pretty bands, but I’m guess the main objectives were the tour and the overall press presence for whatever projects she has coming up. JLO is always gonna be more of a celebrity than an artist, she’s smart enough to know how to capitalise on that. Twitter might think she’s delusional but she’s not.

The album is definitely decent, though I agree that a lot of the songs do sound alike. I wish her all the best though, and I hope that it does better numbers. Maybe with the film she’ll have a bit more longevity than would typically be expected.

I would probably move Broken Like Me to the top 5 now. That song really resonates with me, especially the way she sings it. Her voice is sooo tender in place and then appropriately ragged in other places. Also, Can't Get Enough really deserves to shine. One of her best singles. I don't know if it's the newness that is impacting me, but I think this is her best album actually. Vocal production is stellar, the production of the music is stellar. The beats bang and have intricacies. They need to release not. going. anywhere. What. a. SONG.

She sings lead on all the choruses, for all the discussion there was about her early career not long ago on this board.
