At first listen I rolled my eyes at Luke following the current R&B trend and simply re-working one of the biggest hits of last year in "Burnin' it Down".
I think the song gets more country and more legitimate as it goes on, so I'm okay with this one as a welcome change from "Kick the Dust Up".
Can't help but feeling he will leave some great material on the shelf from this album simply to go along with the current radio trends (as many artists do, of course). The only difference is that Luke probably has the ability to change those trends.

Well he's 0/2 for me in terms of singles so far. If this is his idea of more mature material, I most likely won't be happy come Friday.

With the sheer amount of stations that had started to pick this up over the past week, this comes as no surprise.
I am so tired of drum loops/drum machines.
This really isn't much different lyrically from Come a Little Closer. I don't hate it, it's certainly not as knee-jerk dislike as KTDU, and I doubt it'll be a station changer. But it also isn't something I'll go out of my way to listen to again.

The more the people on here DON'T like this song, the more and more it will $ell on iTunes. With all due respect, we're all entitled to our opinions, and second, it's Luke Bryan. He could do his rendition of the alphabet and it would probably sell just because of who he is

If every member on the Pulse Music Board hated this song, it would still go to #1. (I was not trying to single out anyone) Well, yeah, because every member on Pulse is still just a small sample of the population.

Just to expand on the stations starting to pick this song up; 22 stations have already added "Strip It Down" today on the MB add board, with more to come by day's end.

Meh. Better than "Kick the Dust Up". Not great, not horrible. Not really country, but like carriekins, unlikely to be a station changer for me either.
On a (somewhat) side note, I don't get why people (not singling you out buythecaseof12, because I've seen it a lot) seem to think that merely because a song does well, means that people should like it. We're all aware that this will be successful and sell extremely well.. Doesn't mean we have to like it.

I miss the early luke stuff, I don't care for this "magic mike" type garb. we get he is a sex symbol but these songs are just terrible.

Luke you know better than to have something more pop sounding on your record. We are wanting to hear more traditional and sentimental songs from you. This song does nothing for me.

In summary... this is the PG version of "Ride" by Chase Rice.

I will admit this sounds much better than Chase Rice's "Ride". That song is so terrible and should not be on a Country record.

Luke did an album release party earlier last week with some industry insiders. I feel like most of the pulse members on the country forum are negative towards artists they don't particularly like which is one of the factors that stops me from posting here…. Here are some of the words from country music insiders on the album and particular songs on the album. It's okay to critique a song but don't critique an album based on two songs that you may not like. That's just how I feel towards the problems I see on this forum. https://instagram.com/p/5srWvPPdwY

Luke sounds good here, but that's about the only compliment I can muster for this one. I don't consider myself a prude, but it WOULD be nice if these guys sang quality songs that *ahem* left some things to the imagination. Spelling everything out just seems a bit lazy and a ploy to get people talking. I can already picture the video for this, and I'm cringing.

This is the definition of a grower for me After the first listen, I thought this was bad and boring Now after about a solid 10 listens, I think this production while drum loops and all still flows nicely and just as Luke always has he's created an earworm of a hook which gets stuck in your head very easily. My prediction is huge sales and it'll be #1 by November!

"Strip It Down" is tied for the second most added song on MB this week with 26 adds.

Talk about bad timing. Dr. Dre hasn't released an album in 16 years, then the week of Luke's new album he reveals it was finished in secret. The real winner will be in Friday though, as I'm a big fan of both lol

I don't dislike Luke as an artist, and don't want to judge his new album on such a small sample size of singles so far, but holy man. This could be the greatest album ever made, and there is ZERO chance I'll ever listen to it after hearing the first two singles.
That isn't being biased against an artist, but there isn't enough positive press from the industry that will get me anywhere near this album until I hear quality singles come from it. It's 0/2 so far for me.

Does Luke remember that he promised a more country sounding record? This is better than KTDU, but that's a pretty low bar and it doesn't clear by much. Take out the drum loops and hip hop beat and he might have come up with something along the lines of Zac Brown's current single (the R&B feel would still be there with more of an 80's country vibe). That might've worked. This just sounds like he's on the fence - not completely gone like Thomas Rhett, but not an actual country music song either.

This is just "Burning It Down" Part II and man, oh man is this boring. Like it's still not a good song at all but it's such a snooze-fest, too. Both this and the lead single feel like they just lack any energy at all and they're just feel so uninspired. I feel like this is completely and totally uninteresting and bland as can possibly be.

Kind of a "blah" song for me as well. Also, is it wrong to yearn for a bit more restraint in country music songwriting? Even though it is 2015 and "things change," to me it feels like a songwriter should still be able to craft a great love song that doesn't sound like it should be titled "I Wanna **** You Tonight" (I can think of several songs over the past 2 years that fall into this "not so subtle" category).
One positive for people who don't like "Strip It Down" (and/or "Kick The Dust Up") is that Luke has a pretty rapid turnover rate at radio -- "Kick The Dust Up" just went to #1 after only 11 weeks and will be off the charts in 2-3 weeks, so "Strip It Down" could peak by late October/early November and then be gone.
So when I hear this in the car, I'll switch to the country mix on my USB stick for 4 minutes. But as with any artist, I evaluate on a song-by-song basis, so I look forward to seeing what is selected as the third single from Luke's new album.

Great song! I've grown to love "Strip It Down" after hearing it a few times on the radio.
Based on reviews, it sounds like Tracks 6-13 have the old-school Luke sound, and Tracks 1-5 are the pop-leaning material. Quite a few songs on latter of the album are getting high praise from country reviewers who heard the album. Very excited to buy the album on Friday!

I completely agree that it seems like the first five tracks are rumored to be newer Luke, while the later tracks are older Luke. What is unfortunate, though, is that I'm assuming most of the singles will come from that first group.

Very disappointing "gets nowhere" song that most certainly will hit country airplay #1. Second the allegory to "Burnin' It Down" but in Jason's defence his track was a really drastic change of sound and catchy as hell. It's too little country for the core genre base and too lyrically & musically weak and uninteresting for mainstream Top 40. IMHO Unless the digital sales back it up it will hardly make the Hot 100 Top 40 based on country airplay alone. Hope this goes to the top in 12 weeks and recurrent fast.
