Freaking finally. A can't wait for another album. Carrie has NEVER disappointed. And, even when she has released her more "rock/pop edged" stuff (Little Toy Guns, Good Girl, etc) she does it seamlessly that the song is solid enough to enjoy in all entirety. I am optomistic about this "different" direction she has been talking about.

Is this song getting an iHeartRadio hourly play deal for Thursday evening and all through Friday?

Carriekins---The reason for this strategy is to prevent the tune from collapsing in its second week and essentially having to start over.
Look at what happened to Tim McGraw's new single which has lost well over EIGHT HUNDRED spins this week after that IHeartRadio saturation launch on August 4th.
By releasing her new single in this manner, the chances for a second week collapse are nonexistent.
As previously stated, Good Girl opened with a modest 24 spins on that Thursday (2-23-12) and then exploded with a staggering gain of 1881 spins over the next six days, an astonishing and mind-blowing number for ANYBODY!!!!!
That went a long way in ensuring that after that #37 debut @ Mediabase after 2 1/4 days of airplay, and a #30 debut @ Billboard after 3 1/4 days of airplay, the second week crash experienced by Tim's new single would never take place.
HTH.

That's the problem. Carrie Underwood doesn't need deals like this to promote her new single. Let it take off naturally. I wish these things NEVER started in the first place. Underwood FINALLY has a team at Sony that believes in her and will promote her in the right way.

Do you guys think we will at least get an announcement/the title of the single before Friday, or will they just wait and "surprise" us?

Surprise... That's the tactic they've used with pretty much all her singles... I don't think they'll ever change it because Carrie LOVES surprising the fans.

OMG I forgot about that! I don't know, but at this point we're a few days away so I think we're in for a complete surprise.

When they let her! ;) Usually the fans end up finding out info before it's officially announced. But they seem to be doing a good job keeping this one under lock and key so far.

I think we'll get a title this week. They announced the title of GG in a video a while before the 2/23 release. Would they actually drop the title, the cover art, and the single itself all at 5pm on the 20th? That'd be impressive, and one hell of a drop...especially if they can keep the radio DJs from also keeping their mouths and tweets on lockdown.

Maybe on the 20th, there will be a radio deal to play her for 24 hrs on max spins (or whatever the deals are), then at midnight on the 21st (Friday) the digital release will come out, and music video will premiere to get the mystery song a couple weeks at #1 on Hot Country Songs and put her in top 20 on Hot 100.
I think huge releases like this are the only way Carrie can guarantee an official #1, since radio likes the drop the ball with her, whether Billboard, Mediabase, or both simultaneously.

First, welcome to Pulse Music Board, brinkeronline. Second, I hope everything you posted comes true. To say country radio will eat this up will be a foregone conclusion. I want the Billboard #1 (on the airplay chart) so I can move Carrie Underwood back into the top 40 (at #39) on the list of those artists with the most #1s. She recently got kicked out when Jason Aldean scored his 14th, Tonight Looks Good On You.

With that 5 PM launch the chance of s second -week plunge in spins is nonexistent ; as previously stated, Tim's tune will rise to #37 on the Mediabase chart WITHOUT a bullet ONLY because Brad and Brantley will go recurrent this afternoon, vwhich clearly shows why Carrie's label used the correct strategy in launching her single.
Her tune will SOAR up the charts and be much higher on the chart after 9-plus days of airplay than that anemic #37 spot for Tim's latest after its second week.
Rest assured that no previous tune by Tim has opened on the chart in such a putrid manner since 1994!!!!!!

She'll be on ET on 8/20 to discuss the new album, and this single will undoubtedly be a part of that discussion, as well.
4 days. *gong*

Surprised she's releasing a new single so soon Why? She hasn't had a new studio album out in 3 years and her last single from her Greatest Hits recently hit #1. It makes sense to put out new music while she's still hot.

Surprised she's releasing a new single so soon Unless you're using the word "soon" in the same way Carrie notoriously uses it, nothing about this release is soon.

No posts in 3 days and the song is out tonight? Are you all Carrie fans cleaning your house, mowing your lawn and cooking dinner in preparation for the song's arrival?
I guess I'm more excited than I thought. She said "rock twang." Hoping it's true.

The last thing we need is another "good girl" or "two black Cadillacs" or "undo it". The sad thing is she usually puts decent country songs on her albums and they somehow never make it to being singles anymore :(

Not even you could break my spirits today, so let's all just rejoice that the genre's most important current artist and ambassador is beginning a brand new era today.
