I'm stoked for the annoucement; it's hard to believe "Good Girl" came out (almost) three years ago already. I'm thrilled she's worked with Hillary a lot this time around, too; Lindsay/Underwood is easily my favorite (and the strongest) songwriting team out of all her frequent co-writers. "Blown Away" (the album) still sounds as fresh as it did in 2012; Wine After Whiskey, TBC, BA and DYTAM are still incredible. "Blown Away," in particular is one that I (still) love with more with each listen, even after three years.
I'm intrigued about the new sound of this era, especially with a new producers at the helm. I'm a huge Rock and Country fan, but I'm not sure how to feel about that "Rock Twang" description just yet. Carrie has the talent and smarts to excel at anything she does, but I'm not here for another GG/CC (or any boy-bashers, actually). Carrie rarely disappoints, though, and she's one of the few I always get excited about when a new era comes around. It's funny that she came from Idol and was accused of being "manufactured" because (if anything), that label has seemed to drive her even more to prove herself as a songwriter and artist.
As for people who want Classic Country music from Carrie, I don't see a full album of that kind of material for a very long time. Carrie knows exactly what her fans want, and at this point, it's hardly pointing towards traditional Country. Carrie's always been open about her influences and wanting to play with her sound a bit; I don't see her going the traditional route until she's way past her peak.
I can't wait to see what she has in store this time.

Wait, when and where did she say "rock twang"? For some reason I can't remember... theboot.com/carrie-underwood-new-music-different-sound/Am I reading that correctly? When I first heard of her "new direction" I almost vomited at the thought of her going the route of Zac Brown, The Band Perry, Jake Owen, Keith Urban...but if it's more twangy then I'll probably love it. I don't think Carrie's ever released a dud single (like so many artists have) so I have faith.

I don't think Carrie's ever released a dud single (like so many artists have) so I have faith. I don't think Carrie will ever try a radical departure, since she's been extremely vocal about staying in the Country genre from the start. Carrie is one of the few left (perhaps the only one), who has managed to expand her sound, but yet still retain Country influence (LLA, WAW, CGAS). She's so loyal to the Opry and the genre, I don't see her doing anything ridiculous. Her team has always been incredibly supportive of her, and it doesn't seem they pressure her into doing anything radical. ZBB has never actually labeled themselves a Country band,so I cut them some slack with this new sound. TBP has Borchetta as their label head. Need I say more?

Her annunciation, vocals and lyrics remind me of Miranda Lambert. It's definitely an interesting song.

GREAT SONG! It's definitely a different type of song for Carrie (especially for a lead singer) and I think it's all full of win. She was right that a lot of people will relate to it, I know I definitely can. Except I am a drinker, lol! Anyway, I like the country sound to it and appreciate that she didn't have to give it her all to get the lyrics out. I'm so excited for this and what's to come!

I liked it a lot. Does kind of sound like a vintage Miranda Lambert song with amped up production.
No fiddles and a little loud (Jay Joyce) but it was really good.

I like this a lot. Carrie's vocals and the production come together to perfectly fit the subject matter of the song. This should be a lesson to all the popular country artists: lead singles can sound like actual country songs.

I definitely got the vintage Miranda vibe from it. Or even like All Kinds of Kinds just not cheesy, lol.

Very good. Very, very good, and not a boy basher! Love this. Extremely twangy for her, too, which is delightful to hear.
The video will be coming out Monday, and it's available for download/streaming tonight.

I love that she's changing it up; I love this direction for her! Staying true to Carrie, but exploring different sounds, subjects, etc... This is a winner in my book, and a great sign of what's to come on this album!!! Easily her 22nd #1, I think, or 19th... depends on the chart you use blah blah blah.
Well done, Carrie! Can't wait to see this take off!!! Great time of year for this too, Summer is winding down and everyone's getting back in the work/school-grind...
