Have to hand it to the Zac Brown Band. They got this into the top ten at #9. How much higher can it get? Please someone tell me they have some information that this horrible song is done and wont be a top 5 or #1.

What's with the lack of music videos for the Jekyll + Hyde era? "Homegrown" only had a fan video released after the song peaked. "Loving You Easy" had a music video, but it only featured a girl dancing around her house and swimming. And now "Beautiful Drug" is going to peak soon without a music video. I'm not a big music video guy, but it's kind of confusing because they have had music videos for every single before this album era.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm really confused as to why there have been no music video this era (except "Loving You Easy"). "Junkyard" could have had an awesome video, though that was a short-lived rock single, but still. I was expecting this to get a music video since there were plans to push this to pop.

Well they named their upcoming tour the Black Out The Sun tour. That's a lyric from "Tomorrow Never Comes" so maybe they're planning a crossover push with that one.

That one never stuck out to me, as I still see "Beautiful Drug" having a lot more pop potential than that.

Sidenote: how in the hell is Beautiful Drug even in the top 10. The song can't even be considered country/pop, it's literally a dance track lol.

Not sure how much this actually matters, but neither KKBQ or KILT here in Houston actually play the "country edit", lol.

The edit version definitely saved that one. It probably wouldn't have come anywhere close to #1 if they hadn't done that because it was meeting some resistance before it was issued. Obviously not every station has to play the edit, but the ones that aren't doing that now, weren't the ones that were the problem with this one stalling out anyway (i.e. not the stations that "needed" the edit to save it from a premature peak).

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love ZBB, but I am very surprised at the success of BD. Anyway, back to Carrie...

I'm slightly surprised that this will end up as a country #1, but it's all but guaranteed for this week, with Carrie Underwood plummeting and Cole/Brett being so far behind. I'm sure the country edit helped, but its success really shows how far country radio has shifted over the last few years.
The next country radio single choice will be interesting (if there is one). I would imagine that something like "Castaway" or "Young And Wild" would be the frontrunner, but I guess we'll see. I wouldn't have picked "Beautiful Drug" to be a country-only single.

This is certainly up there as one of the most uneventful #1 singles in my recent memory. This song hasn't quite connected like their past #1 hits and I don't hear this one nearly as often as other top 10 hits right now. Obviously its getting massively spun by numerous monitored stations but I don't hear it that much -- which I'm not complaining about -- I don't really care for this song and its probably at the bottom of ZBB's singles for my personal ranking.

I wouldn't have picked "Beautiful Drug" to be a country-only single. I think they either go with "Remedy" or "Castaway". "Remedy" has the most Spotify streams for non-singles, besides "Dress Blues" which was a promotional single, and there's also a teaser for the "Remedy" two-part music video on their YouTube channel. It would also seem like a good idea to go for a more serious song because "Loving You Easy" and "Beautiful Drug" (and "Homegrown" to an extent) were very light and fluffy singles. It would work as a good change of pace, while also seeming like a pretty certain hit. On the other hand, the timing to release "Castaway" would be perfect and it's probably the most surefire hit available. They've also released a beachy song on they're previous three albums, so they might want to keep that pattern up. They can't go wrong with either song, but I think "Remedy" should be the fourth single.

I have to respectfully disagree. No, this isn't the giant hit like they've had in the past like "Chicken Fried" and "Homegrown", but this song has consistently sold well and has spent pretty much the entirety of its chart run in the top 75 selling songs All-Genre on iTunes. I do think not releasing a music video hurt its impact though, that was a missed opportunity to generate some more buzz. But this certainly doesn't belong in the same group as "Hell Of A Night" or "Kiss You In The Morning". Heck, just a few weeks ago brought us the uninspiring peaks of "We Went" and "Break On Me" (good songs but not too much buzz).

I've known its sold pretty well but I just haven't gotten the same sense of meaningful impact like their previous releases (which is why I made sure to mention "my" recent memory). I'm anxious to see "Beautiful Drug's" recurrent numbers once it leaves the charts and just how much play radio gives it after the promotion.

Sales are at 342,000, so I am expecting a gold single here. Once Beautiful Drug hits the top, the Zac Brown Band will trade positions with Rascal Flatts on the most #1s list.

Tonight coming home from work, one of my local country stations revealed the upcoming singles for Carrie Underwood, Sam Hunt, and Zac Brown Band. They claimed Church Bells is shipping to radio within the next few weeks. If you don't mind, what was the Zac Brown Band song?

It's not out of the realm of possibility that the band goes for a new song from the next project (if ready) instead of another from Jekyll+Hyde. If so, it'd be interesting to see how much more sway Dot/BMLG has on that than they did before now. Remember, the next single will be the FIRST one to be wholly promoted by Dot Records after the closing of the Southern Ground team.

I'm actually surprised to see this song making it all the way to the top... I like the song and I'm happy for them, but I would be happier if something else from the album (which I like a lot by the way) was their 3rd Country #01 from this era LOL

This song appears to be losing spins today so I'm going out on a limb and guessing that Brett or Cole will have the #1 song tonight?

It lost spins and audience on Mediabase yesterday (today's update), but probably not enough to drop below Cole and/or Brett. ZBB should be #1 on tonight's Billboard chart.
