This is HORRIBLE. Not as bad as "Afraid".

Based on the "leans R&B" descriptions I figured I;d love this, but it does nothing for me. Kind of dull.

Added this to the playlist for a BBQ I DJ'ed last weekend. Of the songs no one knew, this got the best response and questions about it.

If this had a a different artist name tagged to it, they would just stick it in CHR land.

Not a fan, sorry.
This isn't bad, but this sounds like something a pop or R&B singer would make. I enjoyed Afraid and Sweater Weather, but this is just ok.
Hoping this doesn't do well, because it just isn't rock, or even indie IMO (in other words, it's as "alternative" as "2 Heads").
ETA: I think I exaggerated too much. It's more "alternative" than "2 Heads", but it's still not something I want Alternative to embrace

I was expecting something comparable to "The Sunshine of Your Youth" subject-wise based on that title (in which case it'd have had to have been one hell of a knockout song)...but instead, what the heck even is this?

This is even duller than Sweater Weather and not even close to the fire that Afraid had.

As much as I like this, I don't think this will even make the top 20. It's very R&B leaning, and despite the verses being typically strong, the chorus is pretty weak, and there's little about it that screams at alternative to spin the crap out of this one.

It's not that it completely aweful; it's just that it starts off really boring that by the time the actual melody and guitars kick in, I've lost interest. I can see fans of Hozier really getting into this song?. I'll just wait for their next single.

I'm actually starting to like this now. The video sheds it's wussy/CHR vibe and gives it more of an Alt feel. At least that's the image I'm getting. I still can't listen to this without the video. It's weird , but true.

I like it. Sounds like The Weeknd. Can this band be considered PBR&B now? Between the two singles from the upcoming album and I Can't Even, I definitely thing they verge more into Banks/Weeknd territory more than alternative. And I still want to see the Weeknd on Alt (but maybe that's just me...) I'd rather see this get big on CHR than Alt.

Can't say I really liked this song either. I'm probably going to pass on their album after liking their previous one.

"The Beach" isn't too terrible I don't get any R&B influences, but I also concider myself a bit ignorant when it comes to R&B vibe of today and frankly; just don't care about it. This kinda sounds like a slower version of "Sweater Weather" without the beats. and the singer has exceptional vocal capacities. So that also helps.

I absolutely love this, been on repeat for awhile. I might sample the instrumental on my mixtape.

I don't like it much, but I don't hate it either.
Although, it's better than "Sweater Weather".
