Go Thomas! <3
So, this freeze you guys are talking about, how many weeks does it last? And if Thomas' song reaches number one before the freeze, do the weeks in the freeze still count as weeks at number one?

And if Thomas' song reaches number one before the freeze, do the weeks in the freeze still count as weeks at number one? Country Aircheck and Billboard take a two week break from issuing a weekly published issue but the daily radio numbers are still kept track. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are largely to blame as many stations switch to all Christmas music those two days. If a song hits #1 over that time period, it still counts.

Getting spins at another format per Billboard:
"Man" is also bubbling under the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart, crossing over thanks to, most prominently, spins at CBS Radio-owned WBMX Boston (60 in the tracking week ending Dec. 20) and WTIC Hartford, Conn. (49).

The more I hear this one the more I like it. Like I still think it could be better than what it is, but it's still so much more enjoyable than any of his other big hits, so I wholeheartedly approve of this becoming his biggest smash thus far. I'm anticipating to go back to hating his music starting with his next single, so I'm just going to really appreciate this one while it's out.

Congrats are due! #1 in the U.S. and Canada (both Billboard & Mediabase) [while Jason Aldean is #1 in Australia!]

I don't see any way the next single isn't "T-Shirt" and I don't see any way it isn't ANOTHER #1 for this guy. What a rising star.

This is turning out to be possibly his biggest hit so far and could be a contender for #1 song of 2016.

Valory is going for one more week at #1 with "Die A Happy Man." Thomas has only lost 15 spins over the past three days and has seen losses of only 170k in Mediabase audience over that time frame. I don't see anyway he isn't #1 on both charts either since LoCash is just too far away right now and I think that Reviver/Star Farm may have switched their #1 push plan, from a couple weeks ago. Jason's airplay is still staying flat, which honestly makes me cringe as his song should be falling by now but Broken Bow hasn't officially let go of promotion as of yesterday. I still have to imagine his song will fall by early next week. This Friday will mark "Gonna Know We Were Here's" seventh week inside the MB top 5.

I agree that Thomas is likely to get a 4th week at #1 on Billboard. I think that most stations are still on auto-pilot this week, and that they programmed this week's playlists prior to the holidays and haven't really made any changes to them since people started coming back to work on Monday. I mean, most songs are barely gaining at all, and even songs like "Gonna" and "Top of the World" are barely decreasing when they should be free-falling.
Things should start to return to normal by Saturday (and by normal, I mean that we won't see the top 6 songs with bullets of 1000+) and as we head into next week.

I would have to look back for exact songs but "Lesson In Leavin'" by Jo Dee Messina spent seven weeks at #2, thanks to "Amazed" in 1999.

Nothing to do with the thead but man her music should have been more popular. :'( Back to Die A Happy Man despite ripping off Ed Sheeran. I just have found myself loving this song more and I hope that Thomas holds on. My only concern is New Music Nashville announced Gonna Know We Were Here as a #1 which does have me a little worried,

Makin' Believe spent 15 weeks at #2 while Webb Pierce was tops with In The Jailhouse Now (21 weeks at the top).

Worth mentioning, "I Go Back" by Kenny Chesney was blocked in 2004 by Tim McGraw's "Live Like You Were Dying" as it was #1 for seven weeks on Billboard and Kenny was stuck at #2 and never mentioned to take #1 as if I am correct, Tim was #1 for 10 weeks on Radio & Records at the time.

Long stays at #2 like "I Go Back" and "Lesson In Leavin'" and #1 stays like "Like Like You Were Dying" and "Amazed" are so not happening again, lol. I use to hate those long stays that blocked other songs from #1 (damn you Craig Morgan with "That's What I Love About Sunday"...) but I miss those days now.

I will never forget Lonestar's "My Front Porch Looking In" being stuck at #2 I believe 7 weeks but was able to in the end peak at #1 and be declared Billboard's #1 Country Song of 2003.

I think the last recent top 2 song to spend so many weeks in the top 5 is Jason Aldean's "Tattoos on This Town" in 2011-2012, which spent seven weeks in the top 5, six of those at #2.

Same time of year as "Gonna Know We Were Here", too...only difference is that "Tattoos On This Town" was a huge hit for Jason (despite its #2 peak), whereas "Gonna Know We Were Here" has been a total non-event when it comes to sales and streams. I'm fine with Thomas getting a 4th week at #1. I don't particularly enjoy much (if any) of his music (including DAHM), but it's clear that it's a very big hit. I'm just really disappointed that Cam couldn't quite get to #1 on Billboard before Thomas started his reign. I'm totally fine that Jason will likely be blocked, and I wouldn't even mind if LoCash gets held to a #2 peak (their song is just "meh").

If this was 10 years ago, then yes, a fifth week would be considered...especially since "Die A Happy Man" is testing and selling incredibly well, even after nearly four weeks at #1. But this is 2016 and I'm sure Valory will heed to the wishes of Star Farm and UMG to reach #1 -- that's just the way labels operate nowadays. I will say that if there was ever a single that probably deserves to be #1 for five weeks, its this one...but I think four weeks will be it for "Die A Happy Man."

Wonder when we will hear confirmation of Rhett's next single. I think he's big enough now that he won't have to worry about the undoubtedly massive amount of recurrent airplay this one will get. I think "T-Shirt" is the most logical choice for 3rd single, and I also think it's the most likely. It just sounds like a big hit and will be perfect for peaking in late spring and early summer. "Playing With Fire", "Learned It From The Radio" and "Like Its The Last Time" could all work as well. I just hope they don't release "Anthem" or "South Side", I think those could be career suicide.

Yes, T-Shirt for the new single! But I wonder if they'll shoot a video for it, or if they'll reuse the one they did before the album came out.

Valory still pushing. I think a fifth week may be possible:
1 1 THOMAS RHETT Die A Happy Man 8698 8488 210 63.948

I think a fifth week may be possible: 1 1 THOMAS RHETT Die A Happy Man 8698 8488 210 63.948 Today's radio update told us nothing as nearly every song saw big gains from Sunday's programming (the 210 is the bullet). We'll see what this week's update will tell us. The song is selling great and testing great. Valory could push for another week but there's a good chance they could concede to the labels behind them. Everything is setting up for fifth week but the fact it's 2016 is why it's still up in the air. Five week #1 songs just don't happen anymore.

I kind of want to see this go for a fifth week at #1 just because we don't see 5-weekers anymore. If this one doesn't do it, who knows when we will (or if we will ever) see a 5-week #1 next.
"I Love This Life" will probably push for #1 this week (the thank you ad in Aircheck confuses me a bit, but I'm still going to assume that they are pushing for #1 this week). On one hand I want to see Thomas stay for a fifth week at #1 but I also want "Stay a Little Longer" to hit #1 before Sam and Luke storm their way to #1...
