I have a feeling this isn't going to happen - its had some great exposure and is having problems connecting outside her fanbase.

Yeah, there's too much against this song. Weak sales, low HAC airplay, weak updates, bad callouts... Doubt this will make it past #35.

Not surprising. The general sentiment I've seen around the net (you know, not in crazy tumblr corners) has been scathingly negative.
I wouldn't put CHR success past her though. Roman Holiday is likely the closest thing on the album, but there's always future material.

I have a feeling this will have a negative bullet by Sunday.

This has gained a bit of stream at pop and Hot AC. Looks like the combination of the Bieber feature + selling out Madison Square Garden + the "look at her streams, not her callouts" campaign has given Halsey a little bit of a bump.
Her impressive album sales have likely been compensating, but I still think this will need to gain some momentum on the single sales chart (and possibly the callout report) to become a true radio "hit." It's clear, however, that programmers are inclined to give it a chance.

This has been getting bad callout since it first entered. In particular, it's constantly been one of the most disliked songs. That really lowers the ceiling on this.
There's no doubt imo that Halsey can get CHR hits, but this particular song will most likely not be it. Best case scenario is it lingers until the freeze and dies then.

It's not doing that bad. The problem in these cases are expectatives. I remember the hyping of Octahate, and then it failed. I heard only a couple of songs of hers, but this was by far the worse, so in my opinion it's doing quite well.
The good news for her is if your albumm is doing well there's always more oportunities

I think I hate her. This song, her overall persona, the Bieber connection, that awful haircut, the crazy tumblr stuff (typical) and really, the pretentiousness of her in general and this song. I genuinely gave her a shot and it's definitely a pass.

Octahate had the problem of the bad first tv performance (it was not a Video Games situation, but it was almost there)

She just looks like a person you wouldn't like lol. I agree with what Bhad Bill said; it's literally everything I don't like about her (I don't care about the connection to Justin tbh, but still). I think she has a good voice, but it doesn't translate well to her music. I listened to some previews of her album, and there was something off in every single song. If JB's team releases "The Feeling" as a single (which they should), that'll really help her, but if they don't, I can't see her getting any CHR success unless she changes her sound. Even if "The Feeling" is released as a single, I still can't see her doing much besides having a bit more curiosity spins.

Yeah, this has gone a lot further than I thought it would and I can't see it going much further at all. The sales went up quite a bit (went from the 220s to around 105 on iTunes), but they've fallen back down now. I just don't think there's interest in this song.

This song sucks, she has actual good stuff like Roman Holiday and Colors. If she stopped being pretentious and ditched the "holier-than-pop" persona because she's actually as pop as it gets these days, she'd come off more likeable.

I don't know if pretentious is the right word. People said the same for Gaga and I didn't agree there as well. They might both believe in what they say despite some contradictions between their 'ideology' and actions cause afterall, in Halsey's case, she's just starting to make a name for herself so some compromises are necessary if she wants to truly break through. What annoys me about her is not what she says in interviews or in this song (although some of the lyrics are cringeworthy despite the great melody) but the fact that she comes off as a try-hard trying to shove whatever point she has down everyone's throats. I've seen some of her performances and whenever she talks to the audience she gives me second-hand embarrassment cause I found everything she said cheesy despite having a point. Even in this song's video when she screams 'why are you just standing there?!?!??' towards the middle is as if she's trying to appeal to 14 year olds who are going through their rebel phase. I don't have a proper word to sum up all these negative characteristics but I wouldn't call her pretentious either.

She says a lot of things but the execution is sloppy, almost parody-like. Being the bipolar/bisexual/biracial synesthetic homeless person with an edgy aqua haircut is kind of too much even for me to take seriously. I don't think she understands the power in subtlety, it can make the message much more appealing and convincing.

What was "pretentious" about Gaga was that she was always talking about how "pop music" as a concept was supposed to be some expression of high art, which may make sense in Warholian circles but to the average person sounds like bullshit. Halsey is the commodified expression of special snowflake syndrome.

33 30 HALSEY New Americana 1738 1652 86 6.063 iTunes: #165
Perhaps it's done for real this time? The sales have fallen a decent amount, and the audience is falling as well. It's also finally starting to fall on Alternative, and isn't faring too well on Hot AC either.

Been hearing this on the radio quite a bit lately.... I actually love the melody of the verse and I actually think her voice sounds good on it, but the chorus and lyrics lose me.

This is finally gaining momentum from a sales and Hot 100 standpoint, so of course the radio updates are becoming worrisome. Down 8% so far this week.
