Artist: Ashley Gearing Single: "Train Track" Writers: Jon Nite, Jimmy Robbins, Maren Morris Album: TBA Label: Curb Add Date: September 21st, 2015 Source: Music RowAudioAshley Gearing has been working on new music this spring and summer and according to Music Row, her first single from her soon to be released EP will be a song called "Train Track." Ashley has been with Curb for about 8 years now. Her debut single was the #35 (R&R) peaking "Can You Hear Me When I Talk To You?" in 2003 on Lyric Street -- she was just 11 years old at the time. Her last charting single was "Five More Minutes" in 2011.

This girl deserves a hit. Heck all three of her last Curb era singles were hits that radio just did not play, especially Five More Minutes.

It's weird to me she's 24.... she was known for so long as being the youngest (or one of them) to have a top 40 hit. She is from the New England area and has performed the National Anthem before Sox games many times. I am excited to hear this even if it won't get much play.

She was the youngest solo artist at the time to achieve a charting country single; a record previously held by Brenda Lee. I loved "Can You Hear Me When I Talk To You?" and I also loved "Out The Window." She's also one of the nicest artists you will ever come across.

Look who's alive!
8 years is a lot of time. Geez, let the girl sing.

I love her music. all her singles r pretty good. I wish some other recordlabel would pick her up so she can leave curb. Curb is not promoting good enough. Why r all these good singing girls on curb. Curb is not helping them succeed. Artists like Rachel Holder, Morgan Frazier and Ashley Gearing r awesome singers and it stinks that you don't hear them on the radio. I would take these 3 girls over Miranda, Reba these days.

I would take these 3 girls over Miranda, Reba these days. I don't think Rachel Holder, Morgan Frazier or Ashley Gearing would automatically hook on to another, more successful label at the drop of a hat. I'm sure it's possible but it's not like Curb is artist purgatory here -- like Mike Curb has a pitchfork in his hand and is laughing as Ashley Gearing is crying for help. I understand that they have a weird way about keeping artists on their roster for so long but that's an extreme benefit for most of their artists. Somebody like Tim McGraw or Lee Brice, no, because they could latch on somewhere else in a heartbeat, but people like Ashley get to call one label home for 8 years? That's downright remarkable in this day and age. Ashley is getting to perform and record music for a living, and I'm sure she recognizes how fortunate she is, and other artist on Curb like here. It's unfortunate that she can't come close to breaking through but Curb does have money to promote their artist, it's just that their relationship at radio has eroded over the years. If Ashley was on almost any other label she would be long gone by now. The reason Curb lays low with someone like Ashley is to let momentum build back up with radio and they try a single and see if they can get it to hit. 99% of musicians either are on super small labels with no airplay or zero labels at all. Believe me, if I had a magic wand to get Ashley signed to BMLG that would be absolute bliss. But for now, at least we get to hear some new music from Ashley and hopefully this can chart. I concur the disappointment with not really hearing her on the radio, but it is what it is. She's also only 24 years old, so she has her whole career in front of her, even though she's been doing this for 12 years.

true I agree. I didn't see Morgan Frazier on the roster for sidewalk/curb records I was wondering if she moved on. It's also hard to find pictures of the younger Ashley Gearing when she was 12. For anybody who has been a fan of hers all these years. It's better to her singles than no music at all.

I love her and can't wait to hear this! It's great that Curb has hung on to her and let her keep releasing music (occasionally -- they go a few years between releasing music from her sometimes ), but I wish they'd put out albums while they're at it. If they're gonna keep pushing singles, I wish they'd just throw a record out there at least every now and then. By now I imagine she could've probably had 3 or 4 released. Oh well. I just hope this is another good song (of which she has plenty!) that I'll be able to personally enjoy since I know radio is unlikely to give it the time of day, sadly.

The melody in the chorus of this song reminds me of another song's melody but I can't think of what it is.

Ashley could be a big star - but sadly she's with Curb. Luckily, she's still very young and has to time to go elsewhere.

Ashley will officially confirm "Train Track" as her new single tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get the digital release date of her EP with the cover art as well. :)

Sorry for double posting but Ashley just wrapped up a visit with CDX Nashville where she performed a couple songs from her upcoming EP, due out on September 4th. The video is available on Periscope. The three songs she did were "Human", "Cry Baby" and the new single "Train Track." All three were very good and my goodness can she sing.

Glad she's getting another shot w/Curb. Seems like she's been around forever but lets remember she's still in her early 20s!

Studio Audio: Thanks to bigfan101 for pointing this out. :) I really like this one a lot. The only issue I have is the production. I wish they took a more stripped down approach with more acoustic driven instrumentation but I understand that's how it seems to work in 2015 in regards to radio ready tracks. Ashley's vocals work extremely well with this melody though and hopefully this can be her first top 40 since her debut.

The melody in the chorus of this song reminds me of another song's melody but I can't think of what it is. Is it Jessica Andrews Who I Am. That's the only one I could think of. This song is actually fairly good a nice country-pop and I hope this can at least chart.

Yikes; now that September 21st add date isn't looking so promising. That date now has singles from ZBB, Joe Nichols and Craig Morgan going for adds, as well as the new one from Matt Gary which is being handled by in2une Nashville. I doubt Ashley can score many adds on impact day since the competition is so stiff and she's been off the radio for a while.
I think this might be my favorite single from her since her debut in 2003.
Songwriters are Maren Morris, Jon Nite and Jimmy Robbins.

Man Train Track is so just infectious and lovely. Not quite traditional but it feels very modern.

Something about the end of the chorus is really familiar with Color Blind. I had to listen to it a few times to be sure. I was in a hurry and I didn't have time to check it, but luckily you pointed that out too!

Not a fan of "Electric" but the rest is solid. I really like "Love Can Go To Hell" and "Human." Definitely what I would consider pop style country.

Man this song is so refreshing to me. While I'm not gonna say Train Track will pull many ads I am actually thinking this song might be able to chart maybe I'm being too optimistic but if Curb can get Mo Pitney to chart. I don't know why Ashley won't be able to. Unless she didn't do a radio tour. I just am hoping for this chart I love this song as Ashley kills it vocally and she never gets lost in the production. Well I don't know how many adds this got but I imagine it can't be good since it wasn't even in the top 10. Now I think Train Track only got around like 6 or 7 adds. sabre14 do you know how many adds Train Track got.
