Love Mo, seriously things like "Clean Up On Aisle Five" and "Just A Dog" are A++ material. But his single choices have just been...there. I thought "Country" was a solid B effort while this is like a B-. Still hope this does well so we can get that album!

I dunno, I think that was a really smart thing to say. It doesn't matter how big your career gets, but if you don't believe in and enjoy the music that you're putting out, then what's the point? A lot more artists should follow that kind of mantra, imo. Yes!!!! My mind was blown that there's still one person (sarcastically one) who still believes that.

My initial read of your post was thinking that you were doing a "WTF?" kind of response to his comment. Glad we're on the same page there after all. ;)

Boy And A Girl Thing got 2 adds today. That's normal for a song that doesn't go for adds until next week. I don't think anybody should be getting their hopes up for a ton of adds next week as I'm expecting "Boy And A Girl Thing" to get roughly as many as "Country" did (which was 22).

"Boy And A Girl Thing" has 814k in Billboard audience, just 55k short of charting this week. Mo also got 8 more adds this week as well, after the 23 last week. One of them was KKBQ in Houston, which was a big supporter of "Country."
I don't think this one will be a big hit or anything but I get the feeling that Mo can get some traction with radio as long as Curb plays their cards right.

It appears that "Boy And A Girl" thing is following in "Country's" footsteps. What I mean, is every station except two has "Boy And A Girl Thing" in low rotation to very light rotation. One of those two stations that have spun this song heavily is KKBQ in Houston, which has accounted for nearly 1.2 million of this song's audience...that's a huge factor in this one being at #49 on Billboard airplay this week and #53 on MB. Let's say hypothetically that KKBQ ignored this one...that would place it somewhere in the mid 60's on Billboard (under the New & Active section). That's basically what happened to "Country" early in its chart run. "Country" was able to get some conversions later in its run, which allowed it to reach the mid 30's but many stations were still sluggish in putting Mo's song in further rotation at that point and Curb eventually had to pull the plug.
I hope that this one can finish what "Country" started and reach the top 30 (with an album release) but I'm still going to remain on the pessimistic side. I already know that it's likely not going to be a big seller and it certainly doesn't cater to country radio's trending demo right now, so this chart run has to be Curb and their selling of Mo as an artist. KKBQ in Houston has certainly done their part this year for Mo Pitney.

I can't handle how amazing this song is. This is a perfect example of why I love country music so much. This sound is flawless and Mo's vocals are perfect. I want Mo and this song to find as much success as possible. We seriously need more songs like this and more artists like him in country.

It looks like "Boy And A Girl Thing" got 15 adds this week, which gives Mo 22 total adds over the past two weeks and now over 60 stations overall. It just so happens that "Boy And A Girl Thing" cracks the MB top 50 rolling chart today.

It looks like "Boy And A Girl Thing" got 15 adds this week Didn't want to say anything until it was confirmed but the Cumulus block did in fact add this song.

Cute without going overboard, charming, smooth, neo-trad. This guy deserves a breakout.

Love the video! How is this one doing? I've been nervous about this one for awhile fearing that it's not going to amount to much, but I'd love to be proven wrong. It's disappointing having in the back of my mind that if "Country" had made the Top 30 or so, they would've probably put out his debut album, so if this one doesn't do better then we're going to wind up waiting for who knows how long. :(

Love the video! How is this one doing? Eh. "Boy And A Girl Thing" hasn't done much of anything in a while. Its only gained 180k in total audience over the past four weeks and has accumulated just 100 gained spins over that time frame. Every station except for three has this one in light rotation right now. What's unfortunate is that KKBQ in Houston (who once accounted for 1.2 million of this song's audience) has since significantly decreased its spin totals and now they have accounted for half that former total. I see this one's ceiling being top 40.

Finally watched the video. Very good. Maybe better than the "Country" video. I loved the treatment, the setting, the editing, the casting, everything. The song gets better with every listen, too.
I heard on The Highway this past week that Mo hopes to have his album out in January or February...if that's the case, then Curb would be content with having the album come out without a top 30 single. I still find that unlikely since this is the same label who went 46 singles with no album for Amy Dalley, way back when, and I really don't think this would sell much right now, without a sizable hit at radio (it probably wouldn't with a hit but it'd be really poor without one) as many of the listeners have still never heard of Mo. Unfortunately, it might be the only course of action as radio is just not responding to this single or his music in general. "Boy And A Girl Thing" has lost 45 spins and 200k in audience over the past seven days and has gained less than 100k in audience over the past five weeks. His music is just not fitting the style PD's are desiring to fit in those target demos.

I miss the days when albums would just come out anyway, ugh. I really, really hope they put out his debut album in Q1 2016 regardless of where this one is at on the charts. It probably won't sell much at all, but I still don't see how never releasing anything is good for things at all. Back in the 80s, 90s, and even in the last decade, there were plenty of artists whose albums were released without any real radio support (or very little), and some of those artists later became big stars (Tim McGraw, Sara Evans, Martina McBride). I just don't think any good comes from sitting on an artist for years and years with no albums to show for it, even if they don't do that well commercially. I don't think Curb has a lot to lose here either since they have basically no clout with radio for any of their artists and about the only thing they've done lately is remind us how many hits Tim McGraw had in his career and how much LeAnn Rimes likes Christmas.

It will be interesting to see where he goes next. I mean on one hand they could release "Come Do a Little Life" which would arguably be his most radio friendly thing to date, or he could surprise us all and release either "Clean Up On Aisle 5" or "Just A Dog" and watch whatever one become a monster hit and then be famous and then team up with Chris Stapleton and sing country music by day and fight crime at night......
Ok did I overexaggerate a bit?

Fun fact:
If you search for Mo Pitney on Google Play and click on "Songs", you'll see all 4 of his released songs as well as George Jones- "Who's Going To Fill Their Shoes?"

Judging by this weeks Mediabase update it looks like Curb has given up on Boy & Girl Thing it lost around 500K. Sad thing is I just heard it on the radio.

Don't exactly know if Curb has given up on "Boy And A Girl Thing"...but KKBQ in Houston hasn't. Get this -- this song's spin totals on that station went from 1 last week (Christmas) to 57 this week, lmao. Mo's now got about 2.0 million in total MB audience. I wouldn't put it past Curb to keep working this as long as they keep getting a huge boost from KKBQ.

Yep due to KKBQ it looks like Boy And A Girl Thing should easily re-enter the BB chart and it appears he has a couple of other stations helping Mo out. If I had to say where Mo will end up on BB my estimations put Mo at #45. Yeah it's going to be a pretty big re-entry especially since Mo didn't go recurrent. He dropped off which means Mo is for sure to re-enter this Monday. The only bad thing about that is that it slows everyone else down but good job Mo Pitney!

Can someone explain how this song missed entering BB chart. It did more than enough to gain back on the BB chart and yet it didn't manage to re-enter,

Can someone explain how this song missed entering BB chart. It did more than enough to gain back on the BB chart and yet it didn't manage to re-enter, There's no explanation that makes sense. Mo's first bullet-less week was on 12/14 (the last published BCU of the year). He obviously didn't have a bullet on 12/21 (as he fell out of the top 60) so that counts as back-to-back bullet-less weeks. Then 12/28 was his 3rd bullet-less week in a row, only it shouldn't have counted because it was Christmas week. My only guess is that Curb isn't working the song anymore (unlike MCA with David Nail and George Strait) and that KKBQ in Houston is spinning it simply because they want to and because they like the song (they do this quite often). So perhaps Curb told Billboard they were done promoting the song, and Billboard decided not to re-enter it since it would have simply fallen off again as soon as KKBQ drops Mo's airplay. I guess that sort of makes sense. *shrugs*
