Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville) will repeat at #1 for the current sales week with 75k or more. Dr. Dre’s Compton, A Soundtrack (Aftermath/Interscope) decreased on Saturday and Sunday after a modest increase on Friday, the day the film opened. Our projection for week two is 45-50k. N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton (all versions combined) sold 12,912, an increase of close to 500% over the same period last week. Combined sales on all N.W.A albums totaled 16,837, up nearly 400%. Over the weekend, sales on Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, which is now distributed through eOne, were 1,100-1,200 per day. ( HDD) Additionally, Bullet For My Valentine looks to debut with 24-27k in its opening frame.

I guess there was big anticipation for Compton so it makes sense that it will have a big drop but I would have thought the major success of Straight Outta Compton this weekend would have bolstered sales. I haven't listened yet, is there potential for hits/longevity?

I hoped a bit better numbers for BFMV
Compton will probably not reach #1 then...Next week there is a new album by Rob Thomas and The Weeknd releases his album the week after I think

I haven't listened yet, is there potential for hits/longevity? That's the problem. It's not really a singles oriented album, but more of an album experience. It doesn't have obvious huge crossover hits like The Chronic (Nuthin' But A G Thang, Dre Day, Let Me Ride) or 2001 (Still D.R.E., Forgot About Dre, The Next Episode, several others that weren't even released) had. I'm not even sure they have announced a single yet. The album is very good though.

Yeah, I anticipated a big drop, but not quite this big. Will be interesting to see what the physical release on 21/8 will do.

Awful 2nd week numbers EDIT" hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=297322Tuesday, August 18, 2015 DRE GETS PHYSICALPhysical product on Dr. Dre’s Compton, A Soundtrack goes on sale at retail this Friday. Our updated projection for the album’s second week is 40-45k sales, 50-55k consumption. Target will be the only retailer not carrying Compton on release day. Discussions are underway for Target to have the release for Q4. Although Amazon will carry the release, marketing on the site may be limited or absent altogether. Amazon and UMG are currently in a pissing match about the rate paid to include UMG titles in Amazon’s Prime Music offering. As such, UMG titles are not available to preorder at Amazon, and the retailer isn’t showing them any love once the titles are released. UMG product is available to purchase, however, and can be found by searching the site.

I thought Billboard stopped counting .99 deals. That'a for the first 4 weeks. There's a 3.49 floor for that time period, then it's ok.

He was a rapper apart of French Montana's crew that was gunned down in his car earlier this year. This would've been his debut album.

Not Ed's 50-something weeks old album going to return to #1. What's the oldest (By weeks in chart) album to reach #1?

Not Ed's 50-something weeks old album going to return to #1. What's the oldest (By weeks in chart) album to reach #1? Paula Abdul took 64 weeks to reach number one with "Forever Your Girl" in 1989 which set the benchmark at the time. Has that record been broken?

I think the FYG record still holds. Raising Sand almost beat it in '09, but was blocked by Fearless.
That said though, with how low the threshold is now, and that old albums can chart again, a big compilation that didn't top the charts the first time around could do it at one point. Hell, a well-timed Bob Marley Documentary could send Legend there.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6671056/luke-bryan-eyeing-second-week-at-no-1-on-billboard-200-chartLuke Bryan Eyeing Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | August 20, 2015 10:08 PM EDT Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights may capture a second week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Sept. 5), according to industry forecasters. The set, which debuted atop the list with 345,000 units earned in its first week (according to Nielsen Music), could hold on to the top slot with over 90,000 moved in the week ending Aug. 20. Possibly standing in Bryan’s way is a surging Ed Sheeran, whose X album might return to the top. The set is rallying thanks to sales and streams generated by the singer’s NBC TV concert special Live at Wembley on Aug. 16, and a 99-cent sale price for the album in the Google Play store. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Sept. 5-dated Billboard 200 chart is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s Web sites on Sunday, Aug. 23. In terms of new arrivals to next week’s top 10, watch for Bullet For My Valentine’s Venom to bow with around 30,000, while Elvis Presley’s new compilation Elvis Presley Forever may launch with between 25,000 and 30,000. The latter album is exclusively available through the U.S. Postal Service, and was released in tandem with Presley’s new commemorative stamp.
