With Kelly spotlighting album tracks at her PBP tour this summer, I got to thinking: which KC album track was the biggest "missed opportunity." I.e., which album track should have been a single? You get to pick one :)

I'll go with Let Me Down. That song had the classic Clarkson sound and I think it would've been a stronger lead than "Mr. Know It All". "Just Missed The Train" from her debut is another contender.

Gone. I remember Z100 playing Gone and Walk Away at the same time. Gone would've been HUGE.

Addicted Gone Just Missed the Train
If I Can't Have You or Long Shot would have been better second singles over I Do Not Hook Up.

The Day We Fell Apart - I love so many of the choices, but I picked this one because it's a little different for Kelly and also I love it.

Just Missed the Train from Thankful, Addicted and Gone from BA, How I Feel from MD, Cry and Don't Let Me Stop You from AIEW, Let Me Down I Forgive You and The War is Over from Stonger, and about 5 songs from PBP (realistically the era is over). Not sure which would've been the biggest. Gone or Let Me Down most likely. I feel all of her albums except MD and Thankful had about 5 good sized hits (7 in BA's case), but just a matter of not releasing all the right ones. Or any in PBP's case.

Out of these options, hands down the biggest missed opportunity was Let Me Down (or even I Forgive You), which should have been released third over Dark Side. Given how bad that flopped and how they just moved right on to the Greatest Hits, it's pretty weird that they would just stop after 3 singles on an album that sold a million copies.

The label would have supported an 'Addicted' release, but Kelly didn't want it. Gone hit #1 on Z100 in NYC an KISS 108 in Boston. 2 huge missed opportunities on Breakaway. With her star power then, she could have pulled it off.

Hmmm I remember reading this and it being discussed during the MD era but I could be wrong.

Let Me Down. Stronger (the album) could've been the true sequel to Breakaway but it was just too short. Couldn't believe they jumped right away to GH back then. I could be wrong but I remember her mentioning the possibility of You Love Me being the 4th single, which would've been awesome as well. Never liked DS at all.
They should've went with this:
MKIA - Stronger - Let Me Down - You Love Me - I Forgive You.
