Yeah yeah he's touring with former members of the Grateful Dead this fall. That's nice, but let's talk about this blessing of a tweet:

I'm dead. That is my FAVORITE John Mayer album! More "Stop this Train", "Vulture" "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room", "Gravity" sans John Mayer Trio, "Dreaming with a Broken Heart", etc. I'm here for all of it. When it comes to seeing artists live he is my white rabbit. Every time I have tried to see him something happens that hinders me from seeing him. I'm praying for another tour.

Yes! Yes! YES! Judging by his tweet, I guess he looked at his album sales and fan reaction to those last two albums and decided to snap out of it!

Awesome news!!! I love his more bluesy and soulful stuff (I use those terms loosely here), but wasn't a fan of the more Americana vibe of his last two records (nor the subject matter for that matter).

I literally screamed and jumped off my seat when I saw that tweet. Continuum is one of my all-time favorite albums and I'm so excited he's working with the same crew again. If 1/15 of Continuum magic translates to the new record I'm going to be the happiest music lover ever.

I'm glad he's not planning to continue on the current trajectory.

So glad. The disappointment of Born And Raised stills stings. Please let's move away from the Tom Petty tribute act.

Still writing, according to Columbia SVP of adult pop promo Pete Cosenza. Apparently hoping for release this year.

Album tentatively titled The Search For Everything, is 85% done, is "more in the category of Continuum 2.0," according to Trio drummer Steve Jordan:
John (and Columbia) recently shared his "coming back to pop music" tweet on Facebook, and I guess all three Trio members are in New York this weekend, so I'm holding out a little hope that we're getting a single tomorrow.

I'm trying to figure out how this is going to work, in terms of buying the album. I wonder if it'll be digital only, where you purchase the album, and then four new songs will download each month to your account. Not sure how that will work in regards to purchasing a physical copy of the album.

The soulful vibe of Moving On and Getting Over I loved instantly and was hoping it would permeate the rest of the EP. I'll see what the next wave has in store.

I've honestly never been a fan of his outside of "No Such Thing" and "Your Body is a Wonderland" (his first two singles lmao), but this EP is really solid. "Moving On and Getting Over" is so good.

I like "Love On The Weekend" -I LOVE it actually- but the rest... :\ "Moving On And Getting Over" is my least favorite; the autotune, or whatever effect that is on his voice, ruins it for me.

I'm loving both waves, my bby never disappoints
"Helpless" is def my favorite; reminds me of his first 2 albums. "Emoji of a Wave" and "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" are great as well.

I checked out Wave 2 last night. It's not the full return to the pop-ish sound that was floated around in articles I've read, but there are some catchy tracks!
I actually really enjoyed Paradise Valley, Roll it on Home reminded me a little of that sound.

Not John The Scammer claiming to release music all year and releasing the album with only 12 tracks! :kii: Hopefully we get more waves later in the year like he's claimed.

Out today. This is definitely my favorite by him since Continuuum. He really touches upon all the different sounds he's done over his career.

One vaguely interesting business-related thing I realized yesterday: by releasing eight out of twelve tracks via two EPs, and Complete My Album still working upon the album release despite there being no preorder for the full album, he got around the iTunes rule that you can only release 50% of your album as instant-grat tracks.
Anyway, definitely agreed that this is his best since Continuum, and I'm selfishly hopeful we get even more waves once the second leg of the tour is underway.
