While it won't beat Drake/Future, the Ryan Adams release of Taylors 1989 should be pretty huge especially with Taylor tweeting it to all her followers and bunch of famous people discussing it. Plus it is trending now on Twitter. the streaming numbers should be pretty big.

They took out all the iTunes banners, very impressive. I'm curious as to how it will hold up through the end of the year. Apple music exclusive too, so no info on streaming numbers before they're officially reported I guess Also something I hadn't thought of: people's free apple music trials will be running out in the next couple weeks. Would people reup just for drake/future or will the streaming disappear?

Incredible. If Drake ends up releasing Views From The 6 this year, he may actually end up challenging Taylor Swift for the highest selling act of the year. Sucks for Lana, but these things happen.

They probably just want to be correct with the numbers now that Drake and Future dropped a mixtape/album.
Holy Shhhh. The damn POWER. Like I said before, this is going to look great on Future's behalf, just as much as Drake.

I think Lana's sales are pretty good. Considering she hasn't done any substantial promo and doesn't have much buzz this time around, her numbers could have been a lot worse. If anything, they show that she has a dedicated fan base.

This really would suck for Lana But in more interesting news, Drake could have 3 500K+ (SPS) openings in a single calender year if he releases Views From The 6. What kind of iconic sh!t is that?!

I don't believe in 500k.. yes it'll open huge but 500k seems just too big. We'll see If You're Reading This Its Too Late debuted with 535K after a suprise release and only 3 days of sales. Future debuted with 151K this year so that number isn't too far fetched.

Imagine if Drake ended up with 2 million selling albums in the same year...unlikely but it could happen. Has anybody ever done that before? Didn't Nelly do it with Sweat and Suit? I think so. We weren't getting SS charts regularly then. A chart from November had Sweat at 800k.

DMX did it within a 365 day period of when his first album It's Dark and Hell is Hot was released but I can't really remember for the calender year since Sweat and Suit was a simultaneous release.

I have nothing against Drake & Future, though, quite the opposite I'm a fan.

We could potentially see more acts go towards more frequent release schedules. No more of this 'wait 2 years like it's 1995' s**t. I'd give Rihanna some credit in this probably because she took heat for it for so long, but I don't think she cares. The benefits of technology allowing you to make music on tour.

Remember when we told you Lana Del Rey would have a #1 bow with her Honeymoon set? Well, funny story. Drake and Future have ambushed the marketplace with their sneak-attack mixtape and are now positioned to take the #1 spot on Friday's chart by a handy margin. Here's what this week’s key debuts look like: Drake-Future (Cash Money/Republic-Epic) 450-475k albums, 475-500k SPS Lana Del Rey (Interscope) 105-110k albums, 115-120k SPS Mac Miller (Warner Bros.) 65-70k 75k-80k David Gilmour (Columbia) 65k-70k, 66k-71k Shinedown (WMG) 58k-63k, 66k-71k Andy Mineo (Reach) 32k-37k, 35k-40k Ryan Adams (PaxAmericana/Blue Note) 27k-30k, 28k-32k SPS Keith Richards (Republic) 27k-30k, 28k-32k Alabama (BMG) 24-27k, 25-28k Chris Cornell (UMe) 15k-17k, 16k-18k ( HDD)

:'( :'( :'( Honeymoon is doing so good on metacritic. It really bothers me too. I think it's great that there is product that people are willing to buy in 'massive' numbers. Lana obviously has a solid fanbase and her albums seem to have incredibly long sales cycles/ The REAL crime was Shania Twain's GH getting smoked by Eminem's moved up date due to leaks/violations. :) And, I still think Blackout is the best album Brit released.

I'm guessing everyone here has forgotten just how big they were at the time. It wasn't done with albums released within the same calender year. By your logic Adele did it too as well as Amy Winehouse. All of One Directions albums have been released within a year of each other in November, give or take a week or two.

Surprise Drake & Future Album Heading for Big No. 1 Debut on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | September 21, 2015 4:07 PM EDT Drake and Future’s surprise new collaboration album is heading for a big No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart and the second-largest week of the year -- following only Drake himself. Industry forecasters suggest their set, What a Time to Be Alive, could move upward of 450,000 to 500,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Sept. 24. Of that sum, more than 425,000 could be pure album sales. Both figures would mark the second-biggest weekly totals for an album in 2015, trailing only Drake’s other surprise album: If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, which launched with 535,000 units and 495,000 in album sales in the week ending Feb. 15, following its release on Feb. 12. What a Time to Be Alive was released Sunday, Sept. 20, through Cash Money and Epic Records and distributed by Universal Music. The album -- which is initially exclusively available through Apple Music and the iTunes Store -- was only announced one day earlier, and its release came on an off-cycle Sunday (as most albums are now released on a Friday each week, the first day of the Billboard 200's tracking week). The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the Oct. 10-dated Billboard 200 chart, where Drake and Future will likely debut at No. 1, is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Sept. 27. Drake and Future’s launch will probably block an also-arriving Lana Del Rey from the No. 1 slot, as her Honeymoon set could start in the No. 2 position with around 120,000 units.www.billboard.com/biz/articles/6700810/surprise-drake-future-album-heading-for-big-no-1-debut-on-billboard-200-chart
