I think this will end up being a pretty big hit. Once the weather warms up, this song will.

I finally took the time to listen to this for the first time. My first thought is that this is quite an awesome song! It is like the modern version of "Ten Rounds", only better. I really enjoy the fact that it is a drinking song that does not just rehash the same old bro-themes repeatedly. There's no tailgates OR cornfields!! What???!!?!

It took a while but this one's only three spots away from the Mediabase top 40. "Power Of Positive Drinkin'" however has only gained 100k in total audience over the past two weeks and just 350k since the new year -- definitely a slow go thus far -- the climbing of the chart recently was due to some recurrents.
I'm hoping that Chris' inclusion in this year's CRS New Faces show can give this one a boost once it hits the MB top 40 and can find a spark to at least make this one a top 20 single. I still have not heard this on any radio station yet but I absolutely love the song and hope that changes soon.

KKBQ in Houston finally added "Power Of Positive Drinkin'". Good timing for some real help in audience gains, lol. I'm hoping they put the song in at least medium rotation; even 20 spins a week would mean roughly 500k in new audience.

"Holdin' Her" is now available for stream on iTunes, and man it is a great song. 100% country with steel guitar and amazing vocals from Chris. I wish it was the second single to be honest. "Holdin' Her" is #32 on the iTunes country chart right now, and the original version titled "When I'm Holdin' Her" (from his self-titled EP released by Bigger Picture, not from the Buy Me A Boat album) is at #43. The EP version is $0.99 and the other is $1.29, so I'm thinking either SiriusXM airplay (I don't keep track of what they play) or...something else? "Power Of Positive Drinkin'" is at #158 on the iTunes country chart. "Buy Me A Boat" has surged way up to #46 again. Interestingly enough, most of the articles talking about the CRS New Faces show (which was Wednesday) have Chris Janson in the article title. Billboard and The Tennesseean also put Kelsea Ballerini in their titles, and I saw one article with Brothers Osborne in the title, but for the most part, most of the article titles pertaining to the CRS New Faces show are singling Chris out. CRS New Faces articles/reviews: Billboard: Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Janson, and More Star at Country's New Faces ShowcaseThe Tennessean: Chris Janson, Kelsea Ballerini Shine at New FacesTaste of Country: Chris Janson Inspires, Brothers Osborne Impress at CRS New Faces ShowcaseCMT: Chris Janson Wows Crowd at Country Radio Seminar's New Faces ShowI find it very interesting that the article titles all have Chris in them, whereas the other artists (particularly Cam and Old Dominion) weren't named in the titles much, if at all. I don't think it means anything bad for artists like Cam and Old Dominion (who are both off to great starts career-wise), but I definitely think it's a good sign for Chris Janson that he's getting so much publicity.

Holdin' Her is, to me at least, the clearly better song, but PoPD has that appeal to everyone in that it is quite funny and with "most" Country fans being fans of the tounge-in-cheek style, I see it as a smart single choice. I do think it will have a pretty strong chart run and then Holdin' Her which appears to be selling much better than I had ever guessed seems to be a no-brainer as the third release if it can keep sales like that especially without being promoted. I honestly was a little disappointed with the album, going to have to go back and re-listen and see if it stands out better the second time. As it stands, the first two singles, "Holdin' Her" and "Under the Sun" were the only ones that stood out to me.

Few newer Country acts are better at live shows than Chris Janson, imo.

Its big surge came only recently (I'm not sure why). But I agree that it seems like a likely and/or logical single choice.

"Holdin' Her" has increased on the iTunes charts due to the Bobby Bones show spinning it today. Bobby mentioned that he was at the CRS new faces show and mentioned that this song almost made him cry when he sang it last night. He also mentioned that Chris is just a ball of energy when he comes on stage and had the most enjoyable set.

My only issue with Holdin' Her is that I much prefer the EP version to the album version. The second verse just doesn't have the same flow on the new version, and the added production forces Chris to oversing a tad on the chorus. Plus I love how front and center the steel is on the EP version. Either way though, I'd love to see it as a single

I would love "Holdin' Her" to be released as well but in order to be assured of another single, "Power Of Positive Drinkin'" has to get high enough on the chart...and ideally, not take +40 weeks to do so. I'm hopeful the good will at CRS will work to this song's benefit.
I heard this on WYRK this afternoon and was a pleasure to hear. I believe this is another song that station has allocated to "spin in the dead of night during the weekday, but break it out for daytime spins on the weekends."

"Holdin' Her" is also the third song listed on the cd sticker. My guess is they'll release 1-2 new singles from this record yet. All depending on "Positive Drinking"'s time to peak.

If they were going to release "Holdin' Her" why not have just released it as the 2nd single? I mean heck, it's coming of the huge BMAB and plus, we're in winter, the times where ballads thrive and uptempos wait their turn until at least Spring.
"Power Of Positive Drinkin'" was a bad single choice IMO. It's completely generic/non-eventful and the dude doesn't even drink....

What does Chris Janson being sober have to do with how well this song is doing. Chris Janson looks to enter the MB Top 40 tonight as "Stay A Little Longer" is going recurrent. So that means CT40 spins not a big help but it's still helping the song regardless.

I think this was a great single choice. It's like a modern-day version of "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo" by Tracy Byrd, which is a modern classic that I still hear on the radio plenty. I'm still hopeful this one'll catch on in due time. "Buy Me a Boat" was given a lot of extra help and attention that this one hasn't gotten and I'm sure BMAB is still the go-to for radio stations rather than this single, which could explain the slower start (we saw that happen with Dustin Lynch after "Where It's At" and his follow-up eventually caught on & went all the way to a #1 finish).

This is just such an uneventful song IMO. I've heard it a few times and I can't remember a thing about it. The sales are pretty poor for this one as well, so I definitely remain skeptical that this will all of the sudden change its path and start sprinting for the top 5. "Holdin' In Her" is a 1000x better than this song and it should have been the second single. When I first previewed the songs on the album back in October it was the only song besides "Buy Me A Boat" that stood out.

"Power Of Positive Drinkin'" got 13 new adds this week, so I'm betting its the Cumulus block.
I know most everyone hates these long chart runs but I'm predicting another lengthy one here. I'm not sure this can get to the top 10 but a long run to the top 20 is very possible.

There are exactly two unique lines in this song. I have long bemoaned the lack of third verses these days, but I never really expected to hear a song without even a second verse.

Has nothing to do with "Power Of Positive Drinkin'" but Chris Janson threw on a Sabres jersey while in town during the St. Patrick's Day weekend. He wore the jersey during his set while opening for Blake Shelton as well. :) WYRK's Program Director, Wendy Lynn is also pictured.

Power Of Positive Drinkin'" lost 95 spins and 346k in audience today. That's one nasty update -- to nasty. I suspect Warner Music Nashville is letting this one go. I've heard many rumblings about "Holdin' Her" being the next single, which has been getting some great reaction from fans and radio folks.

I love this and I've just started hearing it on the radio some. It didn't seem to be connecting much though, so I wouldn't be totally surprised if they did pull this and try again with something else.... but dang, I think I may like this one even more than "Buy Me a Boat."

"Hold in' Her" is a great choice and I'm glad it seems like this one is done. This song was so uneventful and boring. Hopefully it didn't kill his momentum to at least get "Holdin' Her" to respectable AirPlay levels.

I really thought this was the perfect follow-up to BMAB. Thought for sure it would be a big late Spring/early Summer hit.

I've actually heard this a ton on my local radio but I didn't think it was much of a song to follow up on his breakthrough.
If it's been stalling, putting out something else quickly seems like a good idea.
