This is gonna be huge for him, and will be the first of hopefully a few #1's from Wild Ones. Thinking this should peak around the Spring, which should allow "Girl of the Summer" to be a massive hit next summer.

"Girl Of The Summer" is actually something that works any time of the year if people listen to those lyrics more. But title wise, yeah.

So great to hear this is the next single. I was really hoping it'd be this one. Hope this is a huge hit because it is the best song on the album in my opinion.

This will get him right back to #1. It's also a song I find myself listening to quite frequently and I'm ecstatic that this is his new single!

Wouldn't have been my first choice, but its certainly better than his past 3 singles. I personally would have went with "Girl of the Summer" or "Wild Ones", as those are two of my favorites that are still radio friendly. I'm not sold on this returning Kip to #1 yet, I mean he basically has no momentum right now and this song is going to sound a little different on the radio. It would be nice to see this breakthrough for him though, as I would like to hear some more singles from this album era.

Is there a bad song on this album? Really he could've released any song and I would've been happy! This is the best album of the year so far.

This whole cd is phenomenal, but this song is more towards the bottom for me personally in terms of favorites. Come and Get It, Lipstick, Complicated, Heart's Desire would have been my choices before this one. Here's to hoping this is another #1 for him though!

Favorite on the album and might be my all time favorite now truthfully. He asked me my opinion on this song a while back and I told him that it would get him his first Grammy nomination....so this song better do great for him!! lol!
No but in all seriousness, I think this was a great choice for him regardless of how much I like it. I think a slower pace, more serious song will do him some good right now and I think part of the reason he went with this one (minus some of his closer long time fans telling him constantly that he needs to) is because I think he wants to show country radio and show the industry and the casual listeners and all the fans really; just that..he's more serous than ever before and he wants people to take him as that. He fought tooth and nail to get this record out and to get back to where he was and he really wants everyone to know that he's here to stay. And I really believe he is. He will be around for a long time.

Most added last week, right? Yep. 9 adds this week, with one of those adds being KKBQ in Houston which is a big contributor to a song's audience is its spun enough. It debuted at #50 on Billboard Airplay this week and jumped up to #58 on MB as well. This one is off to a very nice start.

Has anyone else heard the version with an added backbeat? Doesn't take away from the song too much but found it interesting that they changed it.

Yeah, me too..
WSIX here in Nashville has been pretty quick to start spinning it. It sounds awesome on radio, that is for sure!

Interested to hear it If you go to the "Fresh Tracks" section on Bob Kingsley's CT 40 website you can listen to that version there. I was going to post about that too. I had been listening to the album version well before it was a single, so hearing that version on the radio really bugs me. I've only heard it once on the radio though and that was in Pittsburgh. I honestly like the album version way better. The drum loop is more subtle on the on the album version and I like that. It kind sounds like the loops in Brantley's "One Hell Of An Amen". I find the loop in the radio version to be really loud and annoying and since it's different than the album it really bugs me. I guess I'm OCD lol. My reason for it being different is radio loves tempo and one way to do that is to add percussion. Or in this case fake percussion since it's a loop haha. The most common example of tempo is listen to the a lot of modern country songs and listen for the tambourine/fake tambourine in the chorus on top of the drum beat. The rhythm of the tambourine "drives" the song and sounds pleasant to the ear.

Everything else is the same. Here's the link. You have to scroll down a little bit: www.ct40.com/index.php/features/freshtracks

Read that this song fell 3 spots and lost its bullet.... WHAT is going on now?! Ugh Kip doesn't have a lot of momentum with him. This song is still in it's early stages as well so there's nothing to worry about. Keep in mind there's a lot of major label artists with songs out there and Running For You isn't doing the best on iTunes right now so it might take a while for Kip to get his feet off the ground. It's way too early to start fretting I mean holy cow it's only week 4 for this song. So don't worry the trick with Kip's song is that it needs to make sure the negative updates don't start piling on. Nothing too worry about.

It's definitely too early to fear the worst but this one is most certainly doing next to nothing right now. "Running For You" has gained exactly zero net audience over the past three weeks on MB and its not selling whatsoever, although most of the general listening public has no idea this one is even a single.
MCA figured a slow climb for this song but I would prefer this to get going a bit before the Christmas break.
