This is a nice song, with decent lyrics, but I'm surprised to see it released as his first single for a couple of reasons.
1) It's really not that radio friendly. I'd be surprised to see it make it much higher than top 30.
2) After years with Lady A, it's surprising that when he's trying to carve out his own identity as a solo artist, his first single prominently features two other solo artists, who each take a verse on the song. Not exactly what you'd expect from someone trying to establish themselves as their own artist.

Not exactly what you'd expect from someone trying to establish themselves as their own artist. Paul Overstreet left S-K-O in 1987 right after Baby's Got A New Baby hit the top. His first musical statement as a solo artist came with another trio. Between him, Tanya Tucker, and Paul Davis, they hit #1 in 1988 with I Won't Take Less Than Your Love.

WOW! Thats excellent. I really like this. Similar lyrical content to "The Load Out/Stay" by Jackson Browne, which is NEVER a bad thing. I like the instrumentation and the vocal arrangement, particularly the a cappela part at the end.
One thing I don't really get is the comment from one poster about Eric's vocals being subpar. I think his voice complements Charles very well as they are similar (which isn't a surprise I guess since Lady A cut "Friday Night"'and should have released it I might add). I assume that's Eric singing the high harmony part and Dierks on the low part. I've seen other posts on Eric's songs dogging out his vocals and just don't quite understand why.

Nothing against Dierks and Eric but they bring nothing to this song for me, I wish this had been completely a solo single.

Eric definitely a good singer. It's just some people prefer vocalists who have maybe a bit more 'color' in their voice. Chances are those people who 'dog' his voice prefer melismatic female vocalists.

That was me and it honestly has nothing specific to do with this song. I don't like Eric Paslay's voice at all, and I honestly even grew to hate "She Don't Love You," a song I know I otherwise would've liked quite a bit with almost anyone else singing. I just think his voice has really annoying qualities to it that I can't place, but it either bores me or irritates me depending on the song. I was commenting that the fact he's on this at all and I still love it is a testament to how strong the song is and how great the other two vocalists are.

^ Yup, clearly he wanted to do this solo thing and once the band decided to take a hiatus to raise families, etc. Charles figured it was now or never to try and stake out some semblance of a solo career. He's a talented dude and could likely have performed at larger venues than club tours and sold well but kudos to him for going that route. I bet Maren Morris sings a couple Lady A songs with him in his set.

He originally tried to be a solo artists before coming across Hillary and now the Lady A hiatus gives him the opportunity. Lady A will most definitely take 2016 off and they'll re-evaluate from there.

I'd expect them to reconvene for CMA Music Fest performance on the big stage (if only for a song during Charles own set) and I suspect he'll bring Lady A backing band with him for his solo run. Also, I would be surprised if Lady A didn't have a "Greatest Hits" collection coming with one or two new songs out for Next fall with a tour to commence in 2017. The band isn't breaking up or going to stay indefinitely away.

Next fall is still a long way off though, so things can certainly change in terms of plans with music by then. Mike Dungan is certainly going to make sure that Lady A comes back in due time.

I'm a huge CK fan, but as many times as I have listened to this it just doesn't do much for me :( Maybe since it's more of a ballad? I am excited to see what the rest of his debut solo album has to offer though.

So I have been listening to Country Countdown USA and Charles Kelley stopped by to talk about his solo thing. Apparently his EP is gonna Southern Rock influences. Can't wait.

I could listen to Charles sing all day! One of the best singers out there today! I just hope the solo thing works out for him.

I wish it was just him on the track, but Dierks and Eric both accompany the song well. Can't wait for his EP. He's always been the highlight for Lady Antebellum for me, which most people know for Hillary lol. Speaking of Hillary, does she plan on doing solo stuff or spending time with her kids and husband?

Well this one doesn't seem to be doing so hot. I'm not *totally* surprised because there's nothing particularly radio-friendly about it, but it's a pretty song and Charles Kelley is of Lady Antebellum fame (doesn't hurt to have Dierks Bentley on the bill, either) so I thought it would still do fairly well (like at least Top 20). Hopefully it'll pick up yet.

Ok. So let's break it down.
The tour was postponed because radio is not playing the single and no one knows who the hell Charles is outside of LadyA.
I was visiting a major market recently and they were practically begging people to call in to win tix to his show. Labels can only go so far. At some point the population has to care. And they currently don't.
Perhaps in the new year.

MR Lady Antebellum cancelled their tour like a year or so ago for the same reasons so it doesn't surprise me that ticket sales haven't been ideal now that he doesn't even have the advantage of using the Lady Antebellum title for name recognition.

Charles stated that the tour was postponed to finish the EP, which would in turn, turn into a full-length.

Charles stated that the tour was postponed to finish the EP, which would in turn, turn into a full-length. I'm sure this is only half-true. Perhaps he isn't exactly lying about finishing the album up, but that's not exactly a really good reason for delaying the tour, so I'm betting that's just the positive PR spin they had to put on it like when TBP had to "finish their album" and postponed it to 2016.
