I like this song, along with most of the board, but something tells me we're all gonna hate it in the same way we hate Milky Dance after this gets 10+ weeks at #1 and spends 52 weeks on the chart.

I don't like this at all. The one I like from this band can be found on Active charts. It's called "No Good". It's like Nite & Day compared to this one.

now if only this could happen to "Run or Hide" It actually has at least 164 spins on alt now (which puts it probably at #55 as the #56 song has 149 spins and the #54 song 173 spins), which is actually enough for it to enter the chart, it's just that the chart now is very congested, with the influx of new releases. ETA: Pretty Pimpin has at least 151 spins so ROH could be at #53

I don't find anything special about this at all. Honestly, it sounded rather dull throughout.

Luckily a decent amount of the top songs on the chart are tumbling down at various speeds so assuming a minimal amount of new arrivals come along with some of the very persistent songs (Give Me a Try, Gone, High Dive) dropping out, things could sort themselves out. I do have to say I find songs that have crazy longitievity interesting especially since I originally just looked at the active charts where 40 weeks for a song is almost unheard of (remember My Demons? Crazy chart run for sure but that type of thing has really never happened on active in recent times whereas it'll happen every couple years on alt) -- on alt there's usually at least a song or two that has those kind of numbers. However I don't like them when they block good songs and when the songs with longitievity get super overplayed so...it's a dilemma.

It has a 100+ bullet now, and it's at #12 on MB now. It will make the top 10 once Foals and Coldplay go recurrent, unless this, 2AM or HandClap move fast enough. High Dive and Give Me a Try are in danger of recurrency, so I hope they leave too.

Their debut album is due out later this year. They did a show for Yahoo! Rising, and they performed a new song called "Broken Bones" (which is new to us; it was on their actual debut album and their All The Pretty Girls EP, which has since been taken off of iTunes since their signing to Elektra). I'm assuming most of the album will be their debut album that came out a few years ago, but with redone versions and some new tracks. rising.yahoo.com/post/142024382433/icelands-kaleo-are-about-to-erupt?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma

On first listen this song is okay. Overall it has a little bit of bluesy feel which is my favorite part of the song. Other than that It could be a little boring and I can see myself burnt on with this pretty quick.
Then when "No Good" is coming out I was very impress and it definitely should be release next as follow up. Damn awesome.

Their second album A / B will be up for pre-order tomorrow! It's due out June 10th. It's basically a redux of their actual debut album, with the new songs and some other added tracks.
Tracklist: 1. "No Good" (new) 2. "Way Down We Go" (new) 3. "Broken Bones" (from debut) 4. "Glass House" (from debut) 5. "Hot Blood" (new) 6. "All the Pretty Girls" (new I guess) 7. "Automobile" (from debut) 8. "Vor í Vaglaskógi" (from debut) 9. "Save Yourself" (new) 10. "I Can't Go On Without You" (new)

Spotify put this on their "Rock This" playlist which I'd been spinning this week. The song played literally every time I got in the car this week—makes you wonder if there's a little booster action going on with that. Still, I'd say it's among the most memorable of the 50 tracks that are in there. Had no idea it was doing this well on Alt, but not complaining.

The next Alt single is likely between "All the Pretty Girls" and "No Good". A Rate The Music survey was sent out for the Alternative formats with these two songs on there.

Would No Good be too heavy for alt? I'd greatly prefer to see that over ATPG (which is a fine song for what it is but should stay on AAA), however I'm not sure how well t would do.

I think "All the Pretty Girls" went #1 on AAA already; I know it went Top 10 at least (ETA: It peaked somewhere in the Top 10). I'm pretty sure it get spun a bit on Alt too, but not much. Yeah, I'm not sure how "No Good" would do on Alt. I'd love to see it smash, but rockers haven't done too well (ex. "Pretty Pimpin'", or worse, "Ghost In My Head"). If they don't send "No Good", I would send something else from the album instead of "All the Pretty Girls" since that was a single already. I'd love "Glass House", but that's in the same vein as "No Good". "Hot Blood" is more rock, but I think it'd be a decent fit for Alt. It reminds me of The Black Keys a bit.

Oh, they also performed this on Late Night With Seth Meyers last night: www.nbc.com/late-night-with-seth-meyers/video/kaleo-performance-way-down-we-go/3051130They stage was draped in rainbow flags, more than likely due to the Orlando shooting. A lot of fans were actually angered by the performance (not due to that though). They just canceled a whole slew of shoes because Jökull (lead singer) was put on vocal rest, and then they went on the show. I don't think people understand there's a difference between performing one song and performing a whole entire set.

It better be No Good. I actually like All the Pretty Girls better, but No Good brings the heavy to Alt, so let's go that one.

I don't think that No Good is too heavy for Alt, it's just not in that style. Songs like No Good, Off the Ground (which has 73 spins on Active now, as opposed to 27 on Alt), and Take It Back by The Temperance Movement all have charted better on Active and AAA than Alt. They're heavy enough to chart on Active, but have the classic rock sound that AAA favors. I guess Alt doesn't have any use for blues-y classic rock influenced song like those.

Ain't No Man is indie pop/indie folk--it's not heavy at all. There's no way it would touch Active.

Yeah, I don't think it's heaviness- more that the song has to be more lyric centered than guitar riff centered or it's more straight rock than Alt
No Good can still chart I think, just won't get as high as WDWG

This should be able to jump into the Top 5 in the next few days with "Spirits" starting to go. It's not too far behind "Ride" either, so maybe this could hit #4 by next Sunday?
