According to Def Jam's promo email sent yesterday, "There's also new music from everybody's favorite Australian coming VERY soon as well". So ready for a Kylie Minogue comeback!

I think Iggy's bad press/waning reputation is more similar to Macklemore than Bieber. I don't see her being huge again but she could have a decent-sized radio hit if the song is good. But Macklemore is doing just fine. And frankly hyperbole articles calling Downtown the worst rap song of the year when we have to endure things like Coco or Hot N**a are a bit ridiculous. Having a big fight with Azealia Banks is not that important, everybody has one. The flops singles are not that problematic, a lot of artist with successful eras have flop singles (Like i can was a big big flop and i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of interest for Sam Smith's new material when it'll be released), the big problem is the tour disaster because that show a clear lack of interest for her. Of course Fancy came out of nowhere, so who knows what will happen

What was the 3rd flop? I only have Beg For It and Trouble as flopping. Pretty Girls. She ended up with lead credit on that as well, so it can't even be written off as a feature. But wasnt that Britneys song? Always thought it featured Iggy

it's credit was "Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea", so technically speaking it counts as a solo track

Trouble only made it to #34 on pop tho and I don't think it was even sent to rhythmic, which is ironic considering Iggy said the reason why they picked it over Heavy Crown back then was related to radio formats and audience testing.... (it did do very well on UK radios, probably one of her most successful singles in terms of airplay over there I believe)

I feel like I am forgetting an Iggy song. I would not say Beg For It flopped really. Maybe under-performed if you consider a song that does less than the first two singles=flop. Trouble in America would likely be considered a flop though that almost didn't even feel like a release to me. Pretty Girls...hard to argue anything but flop for that. but I feel like I am forgetting something in-between Pretty Girls and her re-release era?

Booty with jlo flopped hard too I don't even remember that getting a proper radio release (?) I thought the the fact it managed to hit top 20 on the H100 based on 3 days of video streams and it actually going Gold later on when the video hype was extremely front-loaded as well was already quite surprising. It smashed on Audiomack tho :kii:

I mostly consider it a flop because of what little time it actually spent on the chart, similar to Maroon 5's "This Summer...".

Always thought it featured Iggy the song is listed as a duet. Iggy wasn't "just a feature" to the point that they had to pull and re-release the single artwork to reflect it.

A music video WOUDLVE really helped

Yea, I agree that a video for BFI would've given it a relevant push, radio was on board until they probably realized nothing more was happening with the single campaign. I was also really looking forward to a David LaChapelle-directed video from Iggy :( hopefully it happens this era.

If Macklemore was DOA, Iggy will have no chance.

I disagree. I'd say if it wasnt Macklemore, it wouldnt have been that high. The song was a non-event.

The song itself is a jumbled mess and probably would've done next to nothing if it came from someone who isn't a radio darling. I have neutral thoughts on this upcoming single. I liked her debut but the re release for the most part was a fail.

If she's going back to her mixtape sound, it should be promising.

Iggy's best bet is to aim for pop audiences and pop radio acceptance. She could be a Kesha rather than trying to be a Nicki.

Yea I don't see relevant commercial success happening this time around either, so I'm hoping for the mixtape sound too.

I don't see why pop radio would reject her anyway. Urban is a whole 'nother issue.

Maybe outside the US, I don't live there but if the online reaction everytime they see anything Iggy-related nowadays from ppl over there is anything to go by... lol let's just say they'll have a really hard time making it happen. plus considering her team hasn't exactly proved to be the savviest in dealing with that either, doesn't look promising. I'm expecting one of those "hip" websites like buzzfeed or whatever whose articles always spread to every other publication under different titles to already have a clickbait-y post ready for the moment she drops a new song claiming it's the worst song of the decade or something like that instantly making it the general consensus on social media etc too

Pop radio couldn't care less about what hip hop experts think about her. If the song sounds like a hit it will be a hit. Of course like in Macklemore case, she came out of nowhere (and curiously her reviews were fairly positive when she was not famous), and everybody knows how difficult is to repeat such success in the second era.
Anyway if Macklemore is the meassure, pop radio was very ready for him, Downtown was bad received by critics, but the song was top 10 on pop, top 5 on Rhythmic and peaked at 12 at the billboard hot 100. It's not an smash hit but it didn't destroyed his career for sure

I think it's different, it's not just hip hop experts that want to show their dislike towards Iggy now, even if they're still more prominent with the hate (since they're the ones who have some reasoning behind it) as I was implying in my previous post it's far more spread with her. I don't think the solution to her case is simply taking time off before a new record and put out a catchy song, regardless I'm excited for the new material and hopefully she is too.
