*facepalm* Ugh really like I understand but just ugh. I guess it could've been worst but I was hoping for the title track that has hit written all over it.

Shocked that it isn't "Wanna be that Song". This has a somewhat catchy melody but it's so plain. Not to mention this subject is soooo overused. ("Beautiful Drug", "Smoke", the list goes on and on) So many other strong choices like "Lose It All", "If You Were My Girl", "Illinois". Disappointing. This also doesn't showcase his outstanding voice either.

Funny, phil1996, that two of your choices weren't Ross Copperman-produced songs. I don't know if "Illinois" will ever be considered a single as radio rarely plays songs like that these days (or they stall). So while it may be one of the best songs on the album, it's not necessarily a 'radio' song. The sticker that came on the CD says "Featuring 'Lose My Mind,' 'Wanna Be That Song' and 'Drunk On Your Love'." So I'd expect that "Wanna Be That Song" will be the third single unless they decide for a bit more tempo.

Well this is disappointing. Was worried they'd go with this one. I would have been happy with "Fire", "Wanna Be That Song", "If You Were My Girl", "Illinois", or "Lose It All". Especially the latter two. Oh well.

Horrible production, cliche lyrics....ugh, why did they have to pick this one?!? There were so many better and more radio friendly tracks ready to go. Brett remains 1-6 with me as far as picking singles goes.

I was hoping for Wanna Be That Song. That'll be single #3 unless they go for a different ballad a la skipping "One Mississippi" for "Mean To Me."

Yeah, I would say this all but confirms "Wanna Be That Song" or "Lose it All" as the next single, I'm not as mad about this choice as others, there's better decisions, but I've found myself enjoying this song and the album pretty well the more I listen to it.

Another boring choice from Brett. Is it bad? Not at all. Is it exciting? Pretty debatable. I won't change the station if it comes on, but I wouldn't spend a $1 to put this on the jukebox either. Waiting for the day they quit playing it safe with generic filler and release something with substance like "Illinois", the standout track on the album.

I don't hate this one, but it's rather boring and the chorus is borderline obnoxious. It's sad to see how far Brett has fallen in the past few years. 4 years ago i wanted nothing more than for Brett to make it big, I don't think I've ever been as excited about a new artist - it's just a damn shame that he had to sell out to accomplish that. His voice is still top of the line - though you barely even notice on this song.

I'm going to say that this one will not hit the top. It's obviously very safe and very generic (annoyingly so...come on Brett, we all know you can do better than this).
This one will go up quick (because it's Brett and him and Thomas are like gold right now). Once it hits the teens I think it will slow down (kind of like Blake Shelton's generic song about nothing that is currently fighting its way into the top 10 even though ya'll said I was wrong a couple weeks ago when I said it was struggling).
This one has funky production, especially in the first chorus, and I could see it rubbing people wrong...kind of like "Smokin' and Drinkin'".
RIP "Illinois" (dead before it was born)

Call me the odd man out, but I thought Illinois was the good, but boring song on the album lol I am happy with this release, even if I had prefered others. I don't mind it much. Not a favorite, but the whole album is loaded with good songs <3

Wanna Be That Song is the smash that's just sitting there for him to release. If they don't release it ala Jake Owen and Heaven I will be supremely disappointed.

The stuff on the unreleased album was basically not going to work in the modern radio environment. Also, Brett's pretty involved in the production and creation of most of the stuff on his record, so I think he's quite happy with it all. He's gotten success and that's what EVERY artist wants. I don't think he's 'sold out' at all.

I don't think he's 'sold out' at all. I don't think you understand the point of selling out. Selling out is an artist giving in to the most popular sound just to make a quick buck. Like in 2013 Brett released the pure bro-country Don't Ya. Which was the current trend. Then releasing the new pure pop/R&B phase with Lose My Mind and now this somg. Its artists who have shown before a lot of potential and have made good music (Raymond) but then later on release the most radio generic filter ever (Don't Ya, Beat Of The Music, Lose My Mind, Drunk On Your Love)

No man, I fully understand the term "sell out." He's not even remotely close to "bro" and simply involved more of his influences into the mix.

This song is so annoying... I hate the repeated words in the chorus and I'm not fond of the production either. He's a great singer and his vocal delivery is fine; the song itself is just not good to me. I haven't heard the album, but this song wouldn't give me the hint that he has "sold out."

Vocally, he knocks it out of the park on "If You Were My Girl" and "Wanna be that Song".
And I'm wondering if they end up going with the Thomas Rhett duet as the 3rd single. Would be right in line for the summertime, and would be a huge hit.

I don't think he's 'sold out' at all. I knew you'd be the first to defend him, but I think you know what I mean by sell out. His style has changed so significantly, so fast, that it's hard to see it as completely organic. This business is a constant struggle between success and art, we've seen many artists recently discuss this vary quandary, but to me selling out is ignoring the art entirely in search of the success. I admire your ability to see the best in anyone and anything, and I'm probably being too cynical, but I can't help but feel Brett's new music falls squarely in the selling out corner. (And we'll have to agree to disagree on his first album - with a little luck and better label decisions that music could've easily worked in that radio climate.)

I just can't with this song's chorus...it just annoys the living heck out of me. I don't dislike the verses and I think Brett sounds distinctive as ever but that chorus is a total turnoff for me.

Wow how generic. There is nothing special about this song whatsoever. Brett is not going in the direction I want him to. I remember he said before that he wants to make sure his music is actually country but many songs on this album therefore do not live up to what he said.

Found this pretty interesting: www.people.com/article/brett-eldredge-drunk-on-your-love-story-behind-tyler-hubbard-wedding-song I just found out about this. Maybe some of you already knew this. I have been wondering why "Drunk On Your Love" exploded in streams on Spotify and has been selling pretty well so maybe that's why. On Spotify it has more streams than all of the songs from "Illinois" that have been out since July. So basically "Drunk On Your Love" has been destined to be a single.

I just CANNOT fathom how ANYONE at this point can see an ad for a song called "Drunk on Your Love" and not roll their eyes about how unimaginative and generic some of our country artists have become in the past couple years...that's before even hearing it...(not that THAT will change your opinion)

This song has got to be one of the most basically written songs I have ever heard ever. Seriously every lyric is one cliché after the other. Brett Eldredge continues to disappoint me as he wastes his talent on the most generic boring songs ever.
