Just saw the video. Loved it. Maddie & Tae are gorgeous here. I also saw the comments regarding the video. Too white according to some. Really? It's just a music video and should be viewed as such. Love the ending.

That video is hilarious and definitely did a great job at bringing out the song.

Comments for the video must have gotten a little out of hand. They have been disabled! MR Must have? They definitely were from the start. Bunch of trolls who weren't even country music fans were filling the comment section with garbage. Glad they disabled that feature as I generally see no real purpose for them on YT videos anyway.

Should we be worried about how this one is doing? It seems to have slowed down a bit, and I'm afraid that new releases will eventually leap ahead of this. The sales seem to be lackluster up to this moment as well. I'm hoping that once this enters the Top 30 things will start ramping up, but right now I'm a little concerned with this one. This truly deserves to be a massive hit.

This truly deserves to be a massive hit. It's definitely not flying up the chart but its doing fine for right now. "Shut Up And Fish" was released just two months ago and is already on the cusp of the Mediabase top 30. Its gained 300 spins and over 1.3 million in audience over the past two weeks, although one of those days involved most of the top 50 songs gaining a substantial amount of audience (M&T gained 400k that particular day -- the January 11th update). The past few days have seen unremarkable updates. Other big named artists will in all likelihood pass this one but that's normal, it shouldn't be anything to be concerned over -- unless numerous songs start leaping it. The sales are just okay but they're right on par with the sales for "Fly" at the same spins/audience mark that "Shut Up And Fish" is currently at, and that one of course made the top 10. It's still too early to tell where this one will end up but I still believe this one can be a bigger hit than "Fly" was and get them back to the top 5.

Maddie & Tae "Shut Up & Fish enters the MB Top 30 this week. They land at #29. This also means they've broken The Wreckers curse. I still love hearing this song as it's just so fun and original. I really don't think their will be much to worry about for Maddie & Tae. Sure Dierks Bentley will pass the girls, and maybe Chris Lane and Maren Morris and possibly Chris/Cassadee but besides those upcoming releases or currently climbing songs I can't find another song that will hold a threat to Maddie & Tae.
I do hope that once this song is done they decide to release "After The Storm Blows Through" or "Sierra" as those are also a couple of my favorite songs on the album.

Did this get any kind of sales spike after the show?

I don't know why but every time I hear this song I just grow to love it even more. Man I hope this song will do well but I am a little nervous given the huge amount of songs about to go on the radio.
I seriously hope this song becomes a huge smash hit. In fact this might be my favorite song out on the radio right now.
How has "Shut Up & Fish" been doing lately.

It is climbing a little every week and gaining audience. I will be a steady rise to top 5, possibly #1. Dot wont quit on it. MR

This isn't related to "Shut Up And Fish" and it could probably go in the Record Labels thread, but Maddie & Tae have signed with the talent agency WME (William Morris Endeavor). I believe they were previously with CAA (Creative Artists Agency). Anyway, this is noteworthy because WME has become a major force at the CMA and ACM Awards, where WME artists have started winning most of the major awards over the last handful of years. It's obviously not just talent agencies that participate in the voting at these shows (there are also booking and entertainment groups like Live Nation and AEG Live, and then of course there are all the record labels in Nashville, too), but recently there has been a clear pattern in which WME artists win in many of the categories that they're nominated in.

This song finally made the Sirius Highway countdown at #27 this week. I swear, this song has been out at least six months, Radio Disney Country has been playing it if that tells you anything.

It's been out less than 4.5 months, but I agree - I thought this song was going to be HUGE. It still could be a decent sized hit, but not nearly as big as I was thinking/hoping.

Yeah the Highway just started playing it again this week after being all over it in November. I'm hoping it can start moving a little quicker again, but this week has been pretty ugly to it at terrestrial radio. :(

This song feels a lot older to me, because I loved it when the album first came out and played it a lot. I'm hoping for at least a top 10 and then a new single by the fall.

Yeah, I'm disappointed this hasn't blown up huge. I was pretty confident this would take them back to #1 but now I'm not so sure. I do think it can still make the Top 10 and probably out-peak "Fly" though, so it'll definitely still go down as a success. But this was the most sure-fire hit on the album, so I'm bummed and surprised that it hasn't connected a lot better.

My sources say the push is on again for this one.
June peak. One more single from "Start Here" to peak at awards time.

David Nail, who is just below Maddie & Tae on the airplay chart, is in his 31st week with Night's On Fire.

I'm not concerned yet on how this song is doing "Shut Up & Fish" was probably always going to have a slow chart climb. Also Maddie & Tae are on Week 18, so there's still plenty of room to grow, the sales are decent.
Now while I don't think that "Shut Up & Fish" will be huge, the song should do well enough and keep Maddie & Tae well on the radar. I still have confidence that "Shut Up & Fish" could be a Top 10 and possible #1.

The chart and sales trajectory for "Shut Up And Fish" has been a carbon copy of "Fly". Both are at #23 at the 120 day Mediabase top 50 mark and the only difference in airplay is that "Shut Up And Fish" is up 200 spins and 1.0 million in audience ahead of where "Fly" was. This one's 18 weeks old. I'm not that surprised this has had a moderate chart climb. It certainly won't be a huge hit but I still wouldn't rule out a #1 peak for this one and like others in front of me have said, a top 10 finish is very likely. This week has seen no gains but we need a much bigger sample size for any conclusions to be made that this one will stall. When this was announced to be the next single, I predicted a #1 peak but I did not think this would be as big as "Girl In A Country Song". I actually don't think anything else on their album (which I love, btw) will be a giant hit since its an uphill battle they're fighting with their traditional style of Country music. The biggest positive for them is that their label is fully behind them and radio PD's really like them, when it comes to supporting the singles when they're first released. The past two singles have cooled down once the sales and research come back, which is why this song is starting to muck its way through the mid 20's. Their female voices after all -- God forbid we should have too many of those on the radio! -- and they play straight up Country music on Country formatted stations?! Is that allowed?

It's young still and I can see it gaining popularity when the weather continues to warm up. I'm hoping they go with "Smoke", "Sierra", or "Downside of Growing Up" for the fourth single. My guess would be "Smoke".

Heck, just about anything left on the album would have pretty good hit potential! But oh my goodness I would be delighted if "After The Storm Blows Through" got released... It's probably one of the least likely songs, because literally everything in the industry would be pointing against it being a success. But it is just soooooo beautiful...
