There are some parts of the live version which reminds me of "4 In the Morning". That said, I really like it and I can't wait for the studio version.

I love it, but I don't understand why she is trying to lead off with these heartbreaky almost ballady type songs. What first turned my head with her music and lead singles was their "weirdness" and a certain sense of "in your faceness". I loved BDL, but this seems like part II of that, which is great as a song, but not a lead single.

Well, it sounds better than that garbage she put out last year.

I was there when she debuted it, it sounds pretty catchy. Much better than the messy start the fire.

Good song but doesn't sound like a hit at all.

"Used to Love You" is getting universal praise from most music blogs and publications on the internet today. Good sign!
I was at the concert in NYC last night when she debuted it and it was such a beautiful moment. Based on the lyrics this is obviously her most personal song in a long time. I think people will be more receptive to this type of music (as opposed to "Spark the Fire") from Gwen at this point in her career plus it is really catchy...I was already humming it in my head after the show. It's basically an 80s synth ballad that strangely enough would fit it on No Doubt's Push and Shove album (although I would argue it's more catchy than the majority of that album).
I hope it translates well in the studio version and for crying out loud I hope her record label actually releases it as soon as possible and not miss another opportunity like what happened when she performed "Start a War" at the LA Mastercard show back in February.

I like the sia's Start a War way better. Hope that song will make it to her EP or LP or whatever she's doing. This hot AC leaning ballad-midtempo sound works for gwen. She is in her mid 40s, hollaback girl was 10 yrs ago. Im not sure the general public will still be buying it. Although i personally like the fun gwen, even yummy and spark the fire. Hurry and release it gwen! I need some good pop songs, the demis and selenas generation of pop stars arent doing it for me. So dry. Rihana needs to get it together & just release ANTI. beyonce and gaga need to hurry also. I want star power! Im so not looking forward to the upcoming adele domination this winter.ZzzzZzzz......

It's pretty, but it doesn't sound like the kind of song to hit after a near decade lull.
They dropped the ball hard by not really pushing Baby Don't Lie last year.

Pretty catchy. I really like the sound of this, but I agree that it's far from a guaranteed hit. But it has a fighting chance at least (assuming they commit to it all the way unlike switching mid-stream with no real strategy last year).

I loved Baby Don't Lie, I can't say the same about Spark The Fire. I'm waiting for the full clip before judging but I wouldn't say no to another '4 In The Morning' type of song.

I enjoy the lyrics to this, but I agree with waiting full judgement until the studio version comes out to see if there are any differences (for better or worse).

Baby Don't Lie was good I thought. Spark The Fire was a disaster.

This was sent to Radio stations last night and a bunch of stations have already played it (including Ryan Seacrest and Carson Daly syndicated shows). Rumor is the background video that was shown at the concert will be uploaded tonight. Hopefully this gets put on Itunes any second now to take advantage of this buzz.
Plus, I really want to hear the studio version lol :)

Parts of this song are actually really nice. But that chorus... yikes. Her yelping the "I used to love you!" is so cringe-worthy.

Not bad, but Id prefer something with more attitude, but not trendy pop music, something good but different.

I loved the emotion she put into the recording, something that is very rare in Pop music these days. Based on Gwen's instagram it looks like this will be on iTunes tonight!
