I never said that this was an organic viral hit nor implied that(example #2). If you review this thread you'll see I've said a bunch of times this song responds well to PROMO. Please don't be argumentative just for the sake of it. You've said just a few posts up that the promo for this song isn't "heavy." But hallelujah! You now agree that good promo is what's driving this. We agree afterall :) Yes the promo is helping but the way you stated it kind of makes it sound like you don't think this deserves or could be a hit on it's own. The song is great and when it was first released sold pretty well on it's own with very limited promo. This song would have flopped without a good promo campaign. That has nothing to do with whether it "deserves" to be a hit on its own or not so I fail to see where I've alluded to that? We see radio pass over high quality songs all the time. Pop radio is focused on new stars and current trends, and this song doesn't fall into either of those categories, so extra work is necessary. That's just the way it is (and it's nothing that's unique to Gwen). Yes, this sold very well on iTunes when it was first released and sunk out of the top 100 like a brick the next week. Radio updates were down to an increase of 30 new spins a day below the top 20, indicating a likely brick wall. It took high profile appearances on network television (heavy promo!) to get sales back up. Now, Gwen's enhancing that by visiting influential radio stations (smart marketing!). This is absolutely necessary for the song to breakout into "hit" territory. We should all just be happy that Gwen has the will and the means to do it still.

Some of you are so dramatic and pessimist, oh my...
Anyway, i just wish radio was supporting this more. The audience is still going so slow despite the song showing signs of success and potential, thank god the spins aren't negative...

Please heed your own advice as your obviously the one looking for an argument. For the one billionth time, I've always stated that promo is helping just that I wouldn't consider the level of promo it's receiving to be heavy when you look at what other artists have been doing recently. We'll have to agree to disagree on that part as I am done with this (but I'm sure you'll have more to say about one of my posts in the near future).

Kind of like people who say they hate drama yet have the most drama in their life.

Hit music stations are starting to spin the biggest hits of the year more now since it's almost the end of the year. That, plus the fact that some stations are gonna start spinning a couple Christmas songs, I wouldn't expect Gwen to gain a lot in spins the next few weeks.Just needs to hang in their till the new year starts. Its really good that Gwen is at #4 on itunes 3 days after the voice performance.

Far be it for me to understand why this is the song that's going to help Gwen get back on the map. It just does nothing for me and it nowhere near as good as "Baby Don't Lie" or most of The Sweet Escape and Love. Angel. Music. Baby., but I am still rooting for it simply so she can be a big name again.

I'm so happy for her, she deserves this more anyone. But this is as good as it's going to get single-wise, they need to set a release date and put up the album for pre order.

Even with the small updates, she's still on track to finish in the top 20 tomorrow. I hope she can hold on.

Nice. Once "Locked Away" goes recurrent tonight, Gwen will officially be top 20 :) which now officially matches the peak of "baby don't lie" on pop even though at the same point last year "bdl" was already falling down the chart. i really hope radio picks back up for this as there are several songs set to go recurrent or are decreasing rapidly at the moment. if "used to love you" starts getting better radio updates again it has potential to go top 15 - which hopefully is the case as it's still hanging in the top 20 of itunes :) in other news gwen taped a peformance for carson's new years eve special on nbc yesterday so it seems like there are plans to continue pushing this through the end of the year.

It's selling quite well, so who knows what will happen when radio clicks with it too.

Yikes, this plummeted down to #17 on iTunes in less than 24 hours. Why can't this breathe unless it's constantly on TV?

Yikes, this plummeted down to #17 on iTunes in less than 24 hours. Why can't this breathe unless it's constantly on TV? Because TV has given the song its biggest exposure thus far while it's overall radio audience pales in comparison to the songs above it (let alone those artists are also half her age). However, its descent this time has been more gradual than it has preoviously. It began to decrease Friday night (so 48 hours ago) and has been #17 since this morning. With that being said she is still ahead of some songs on itunes with more airplay which is impressive.

The callouts for this haven't been that good. It's not super disliked (but it is on the higher side of the negatives), but it's amongst the lowest in positive and favorites, so it's performance on the sales front has been impresive.

It's annoying that after almost a month Z100 is still playing this only 1-2x a day - even after the Interview she did with them last week. They are playing songs that are lower on the chart as well as itunes more.
They did the same thing with "Settle Down" and "Baby Don't Lie". At this point the song has proved itself enough to at least warrant medium rotation.
