She's releasing her covers in a vinyl set, alongside the Earlier Things Live EP and Liberman Live album:

Safe to assume that the 2ish year old song, also titled Love is an Art, is on this album then. Best of luck to her in Beautiful...maybe even a Tony nom???

It seems Vanessa also isn't aware of this, as her instagram post from the other day had the caption "Learning lines. I smell a Tony" How does it work though since I see the Anna Leonowens character from the King and I, has not only been nominated, but won 3x for the actor playing the role? ETA: I'm guessing the above was due to being revivals of the show?

She prolly wouldn't have cracked that line if she actually was eligible for a Tony... but yeah, revivals are considered new productions so it's the person originating the role in the revival. Maybe Vanessa will write a musical one day and win a Tony (like Duncan Sheik). :)

Stevie NicksFrom my journal: Thursday June 27th, 2019 The Carole King Musical Starring Vanessa Carlton Low and behold~ My girl has done it again… Tonight I attended her opening night here in New York City as Carole King. In January she and I went to see “Beautiful” to see if she wanted to try her hand at being a Broadway actress. She decided to do it and I decided she was very brave to dive into such a huge project since we are just rock and roll women. Well, I must say, I have never been so wrong. She blew my mind tonight. She WAS Carole King~ she’s a great actress~ her compassion for the part she was playing~ it was her honor to play Carole~ and I think Carole King will be very proud of my brilliant little friend of 15 years~ for throwing her heart and her soul into telling this story. I cried from the moment I got to the theatre~ until it was all over. She didn’t know I was there until I walked into her dressing room after the show. She forbid me to come actually~ and I was in Europe finishing the FM tour~ so she freaked out and so did I. Never, (except when her baby was born) have I been so proud and so happy for her. Tomorrow I leave for LA to rest for the Australian tour~ and tomorrow~ she begins a new chapter as a shooting star~ a new little star on Broadway~ someone who can bring some joy into this crazy world… I want you all to see it if you can. It will change your state of mind, heal your heart~ and bring Carole’s beautiful, beautiful songs back to life. So, good luck my sweet girl~ I can leave New York now knowing that ~ all is well~ Love, Stevie

I'M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE!
What a sweet message from Stevie!
I'm buying my ticket and seeing Vanessa on Sunday even though I would like to see her later in her run. I'm going Sunday because it's Kara Lindsay's last show before she goes on maternity leave and I would love to see her again as Cynthia Weil because she is excellent in the role.

Fourth time seeing the show overall and first time with Vanessa. You could tell she is a novice but I think she got more comfortable as the show went on especially in the second half. This was only her fourth show (I think) and I think she did very well, acting-wise. The part where she told Gerry to get lost brought a tear to my eye as did her performance of You've Got A Friend with Barry, Cynthia, and Donnie (as per usual).
I was a little hesitant when this casting was first announced because Vanessa doesn't sound anything like Carole, vocally-speaking, so I had my reservations going into this. I love Vanessa as her own artist but I thought she was straining a little playing Carole and was maybe trying to sound more like Carole but didn't quite succeed? Their vocal tones and styling aren't the same so I'm sure it's hard for Vanessa to sound like Carole plus the fact that she's never acted before...all in all, though, she was great and I can't wait to come back again when her run ends so I can compare this show to her last show when she's gotten more experience.
Part of the reason why I wanted to see the show so early into her run was because Kara Lindsay, who plays Cynthia Weil, is going on maternity leave after today and I loved her when I first saw the show and I didn't want to miss her before she leaves. She's excellent as per usual and I got to meet her after the show and she was so nice and so beautiful (no pun intended). Vanessa didn't come out which is understandable because it was a two-show day. Next time!

Finally saw this with Vanessa on her last day in the production. She did a fantastic job and it was great to see her receive a standing ovation in the sold-out theater.
