After finally hearing this a couple times now, I've decided my personal opinion of this song's lyrics: "Grow the hell up." WE NEED A "COUNTRY MUSIC JESUS" Well they say Jesus had long hair and a beard. You know who else has long hair and a beard? Chris Stapleton. Coincidence? I think not.

This just isn't a good song. And you all know that I adore Karen Fairchild. She sounds like she's bored on this, though... and I can relate, because I don't find this interesting melodically and it's just plain bad lyrically. Mundane is the word I would use to describe this song.

It's not even that I can't sympathize with being hurt by an ex lover, but when you think about it, how much hurt are you really going to inflict to someone by sending them a drunken picture with a stranger? If it was me I would just laugh and say "what a loser".

If it was me I would just laugh and say "what a loser". I think the implied consent though is that the two in picture are going to hook up for the night, which would probably sting pretty bad if it's a recent break-up and if you even cared remotely about the other person. But I agree, you're certainly acting like a loser by having to brag to your ex that you're about to "score" or "hook up".

He seriously needs to stop writing his own songs and start soliciting material from any of the many top-notch songwriters on Music Row.
Where the heck are standout tunesmiths such as David Lee Murphy or the Warren Bros. anyway?

Luke said this album was more country and he was more confident in his writing. So far we've gotten 2 non-self-written songs and 3 pieces of pop crap.

I don't particularly mind this song, but "Little Boys Grow Up and Dogs Get Old", a Target exclusive track, is the best song on this album and I don't understand why it wasn't on the standard edition. It even would've made for a great single. It's undeniably country, and exactly the type of music I want from him.

Saw this performed on the AMAs last night. Wow, I usually like most Luke Bryan songs well enough but this one is just awful. Even Karen couldn't save this mess. I was kind of embarrassed they were representing country music with this.

This song is one of the most apparent 'catchy for catchy sake' songs ever. Both artists are capable of a lot more, so it's a bummer to see a collaboration be so pandering.
Plus, they both have deeper voices, so the dynamic isn't very interesting. With Brad/Carrie on 'Remind Me' there was a huge difference in their voices so it made the song more exciting.
This just sounds like siblings pretending to sing a hook-up song. Doesn't help they are both in their 40s (Karen closer to 50) singing about a hookup and taking revenge selfies to send via text message.
Not that people in their 40s don't do that, but it's awkward.

"Home Alone Tonight" is the most added song on MB this week with 42 adds (124 total stations by impact day).

Plus, they both have deeper voices, so the dynamic isn't very interesting. With Brad/Carrie on 'Remind Me' there was a huge difference in their voices so it made the song more exciting. My problem with Remind Me was that Carrie was still in belt mode, even if toned down a bit, and it really drove home how flat Brad's voice is. But to his credit, Brad at least felt like he was trying to push himself vocally, something Luke Bryan has never done. As I've said before, Luke sings every song in the exact same monotone; I never get a sense of emotion out of the way he sings. I like the dialogue structure of the lyrics, the melody is catchy (even if it scans pretty badly at times — the "clock-a-tick-a-tock" [?!?] and "drink down, throw your cam- e-ra up" in particular), and the production is actually quite well-done. I also don't think the lyrics are too implausible for two 40somethings, at least not to the extent that "Lookin' for That Girl" was for Tim. But both Luke and Karen sound like crap on it. Karen sounds like she's both really tired and has a head cold, and Luke manages to sound more emotionless than usual. Also, the few lines they sing together clash pretty badly, due to the differences in their vocal timbre.

Did they forget to finish this song? Like wtf? The production on this sounds so bad and demo-y and like it was recorded in an elevator. And the lyrics are pretty horrid. Such a shame Luke Bryan has wasted a great duet partner like Karen Fairchild on such an abysmal, poorly-written and produced mess of a song. Something like Blake Shelton's "Lonely Tonight" would've been marevlous... but "Home Alone Tonight" is utter garbage. This is easily one of the very worst singles of his career.

It's pretty sad that this is being sung by a 40 year old man. The lyrics would lead you to believe it's a 20 year old singing this. But unfortunately (though expectingly), this catching on fire with both radio and the sales charts, so we can expect a future #1 here. Correction: a 40 year old man and a 46 year old woman. I do like this song better than Strip It Down AND Kick The Dust Up. Sad when That's My Kinda Night is far better than Kick The Dust Up. C'mon Luke. I WANT to like your music! Karen is 46? DAMN! As somewhat of an aside on this, I am generally not in favor of songs that are locked in to a certain technology (the pics they are taking on their phones). They become dated very quickly. I wish I could think of some examples but I've already forgotten them. An old one I can think of is "Mind Your Own Business" by Hank Sr. "The woman on the party line's the nosiest thing, she always picks it up when she knows its my ring". This is still a great song btw, just dated by technology. Even Blake's "Austin", and the mechanics of the answering machine. Can anyone else name some tech-dated songs?

^ "Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)" and "I Need You All the Time" mention payphones; "Why Haven't I Heard from You" discusses car phones and cell phones as they existed in the 90s; "High Tech Redneck" is also tied to 1993 technology; I could go on.

"Play It Again" where the girl waits all night just to hear a song come on the radio, even though she most likely had wi-fi access somewhere. That one was actually outdated even at the time it peaked lol

The iPod reference in "Yeah" seemed a tad dated but that was actually my favorite line in the song, so I didn't care, lol.

Well on that note, how about "26 cents" by the Wilkinsons? That one even has to be adjusted for inflation! That being said, I think "Here's a Quarter" will always be a great song.

Luke has a big announcement tomorrow. Rumors about a possible Blake + Luke stadium tour? I wonder if Blake is willing to go second-to-last every night, or would they split it 50/50?
What a dream lineup to watch Luke, Blake and Little Big Town on same tour. Hopefully rumors on social media are true!!!

Since I'm already over this song and ready for it to leave, I'm curious to see what the next single will be. I'd be happy with any of the following "Scarecrows" (although this seems like a better choice for late summer heading into the fall), "Just Over", "Way Way Back", or "Fast". "To The Moon And Back" is a pretty strong song as well, but I think it might seem a little too copycat following the success of "Die A Happy Man". But if they insist on releasing "Move" and "Kill The Lights" next, then this will easily be my least favorite album era from an artist I normally enjoy.

He played "Move" at New Years Eve and his tour is "Kill the Lights" so I'm guessing it will be one of those. Or both in that order.
If so, what a completely useless album era. Pulling a page from Aldean's book and leaving all the best songs as non-singles.

Unfortunately (because I don't care for it), "Move" is getting released at some point since Luke greatly implied it when the album was released in his interview with Storme Warren -- Luke thinks it will be a huge hit much like some of his past songs along the same upbeat themes.

As if he doesn't know that nearly every song he releases has the potential to be a "huge hit".

I'd be down for "Move" getting released. Love the rockin country sound it has and I think Luke pulls that style off pretty well most of the time. It's definitely way better than this song is, that's for sure. As much as I love Karen, I can't really say anything positive about her contributions to the song. She's not bad on it, just so uninterested. I have to wonder if she even likes this song lol.
If he comes close enough to me, I would probably go to his show. I like all artists involved. No date close enough to me yet though, so unless they add more, I'll probably not be able to go.

"Kick The Dust Up" and this one aren't even good fluff songs IMO, and "Move" would have been a much better choice than either. However, I'm ready for a song with meat from Luke. Those will always be and have always been his best songs, and in my opinion he always sounds best on the midtempo stuff ("Roller Coaster", "Someone Else Calling You Baby" and "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye").
