All I can think of when I saw this is Kacey's duet with Willie Nelson called "Are You Sure."

Well I know I am looking forward to this. Eric Church is one of my favorite acts as he brings such an energy and just owns the stage and I do love the legends in country music and Hank Williams is no exception to the rule.
Who else is looking forward to this for the CMAs tomorrow I know I am!

Article from Billboard on Hank Williams Jr.'s new single with Eric Church and his upcoming album for Nash Icon: So, the single's full title is "Are You Ready For The Country"...the problem is all that text will not fit in the available space in the thread title.

Thanks for posting this sabre14! Very interesting read. I can see Eric and Hank getting along very well since I see Eric as a modern day Hank. They both have that outlaw personality. I didn't know that all those artists were appearing on songs on his album. That's great. That being said since some of those younger artists are going to be on his songs, do you think they'll see the light of day on radio? Nash Icon songs haven't been doing so hot at radio and I would think throwing a younger artists name on the song would certainly help it see the light of day on radio.

Yes, it's a Neil Young song that Waylon Jennings once recorded.

Nash Icon songs haven't been doing so hot at radio and I would think throwing a younger artists name on the song would certainly help it see the light of day on radio. I think it remains to be seen how that could work out. If EMI could help with promotion, that could get more stations to hop aboard this song. A bunch of stations have added "Roller Coaster Ride" but we've yet to see an add date and perhaps Eric's label is doing a joint promotional venture with BMLG to promote this song -- which would leave "Roller Coaster Ride" as a song that is charting and being spun but not promoted, which would be a shame. However, Hank Williams Jr. hasn't been relevant at radio for a very long time and I personally doubt anything will change that, no matter what younger artist appears on his song, especially since he's affiliated with Cumulus. This song is getting debuted at the CMA's and it features a star artist, who radio does play, so it's pretty much the best they can hope for I guess. I still don't see any of Hank Williams Jr's singles doing much at radio because of his age and radio conglomerate/label affiliation.

I don't know how a Hank Williams, Jr. duet with Eric Church is going to successfully compete with a Church single from a new album. Plus, Williams is on Nash Icon, so that complicates matters. I wish Williams well here.

Just listened to this on AllAccess. All I have to say is damn that was awesome. Loved the part when Hank said "My name is Bocephus" and Eric said "And my name's the Chief" :) Side note as I type this I see Hank's album is up for pre-order on iTunes with this song available

"Are You Ready For The Country" is showing 16 adds this week so I'm guessing that the Cumulus block has added it.

I was never a fan from the get go of labels being affiliated with radio conglomerates. The fact that the Cumulus block takes forever to add songs just adds to the frustration, especially for a song ("Riser") that's sold and tested as well it has, from a format star like Dierks, coming off three straight #1 singles.

I hate how good this is because I think Hank Williams Jr. is a total dickhead, but I really like the way this one sounds, especially the use of the fiddle and the prominent background vocalists. I'm also not particularly keen on Eric Church either, but he sounds fine on this and it's an actual country song, so that's nice to see.

This is without a bullet for the 2nd week in a row on Billboard, so I'm thinking that Big Machine is probably gonna let it go recurrent next week now that the album is out. I really enjoy the song and I'm glad it was released as a single; it's done about as well as I expected it to, if not better.
Hank is heading for a #2 debut on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart this week. Here are the HITS sales projections for the top 3 country albums this week:
Chris Stapleton (Mercury Nashville) 35-40k, 40-45k *Hank Williams, Jr. (Nash Icon/BMLG) 24-27k, 25-28k *Brothers Osborne (EMI Nashville) 18-21k, 22-25k
Hank's obviously selling on name recognition alone, as the vast majority of consumers probably never heard this on the radio. Still, I'd say these are some pretty impressive first-week sales numbers for a legend like Hank (and in 2016 no less). Hank was basically "done" at country radio by the time the 90's rolled around (he had a couple top 20's in 1990, but after that his chart success tailed off sharply).

Sigh. Another mistake by Billboard. They left this one on the chart this week, even though a) this was its 3rd bullet-less week in a row, and b) it's clearly done, as it lost more than 1 million in audience this past week.
It falls from 48-59, but it should have been moved to recurrent status. Justin Timberlake should have debuted at #59 instead of #60, and Drew Baldridge would probably be at #60 (he's #1 on New & Active, although that doesn't necessarily mean he's #61).

I just can't with glaring mistakes like this. I mean if the average bloke like one of us on a discussion board can see this should not be on the chart this week then why not someone working on the published Billboard Airplay chart?
Perhaps this is the norm nowadays -- just making it up as you go.

Perhaps this is the norm nowadays -- just making it up as you go. Who knows? Maybe losing two-thirds of your audience isn't all that much. I wonder how much of his audience Easton Corbin lost, or LBT of theirs. Actually I wonder about all 60 positions. Strange stuff. (And why couldn't my man Strait stay on a few extra weeks, when I have to look at this monstrosity?) It would not have been difficult to see that this song needed to be pulled. Mistakes happen everywhere but double-checking is always permitted.
