So, wait, did it already sell 1 million digital albums, or is it projected to sell that in the first week? People are saying different things.

I wonder if they are hyping the 3 million, as no other music event has come close to breaking this record. Still, amazing though. Imagine if she had had the album streaming. She would have passed 3 million EASILY. I, personally, will not be getting the album until it is on Apple Music, as I am a subscriber. Candle In The Wind was a music event that broke 3 million. Granted that is a single and not an album but nothing until now has even come close to doing that again where the public buys 3 million of anything. Utada Hiraku's album Distance sold over 3 million CDs in its first week on sale in Japan in 2001. Unless you're just talking about the US only (which I think you are).

Lol people getting so sensitive. It's just called being realistic. Also, I didn't read it as it already sold a million digital copies. I thought they said it WOULD sell at least a million digital copies. Who's getting sensitive? I'm being realistic and thinking beyond my own buying habits. A prediction can be an opinion but time will ultimately dictate whether your opinion is accurate or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wonder why people are so pissed off by that. Do they not know how long it took until 21 was up for streaming on Spotify? It took over a year and a half from when that album was released before it was available on streaming services due to the exact same reason this time as well. The difference here is that Spotify was relatively new at that point. 21 being held from Spotify at that point was no different from songs being held from iTunes in 2004/2005. It was just a normal thing. It's now 2015, and streaming has become a massive component to the charts and a huge way that people consume music. This would be the equivalent of a song being held off of iTunes in 2009/2010, which by then was unheard of. (I mean, in 2008 it was a big story that Kid Rock kept his album off of iTunes because it was suddenly abnormal, even though it was acceptable just three years prior.) I think she has 3 major promo spots in the US this week so it's definitely possible for her to break NSYNC's record. Aren't 1st week sales estimated by sales in the 1st day? If so, the projections should go up once TV promo kicks in as that is not taken into account when the initial HITS article is published.

Why does Amazon need to ship by Monday for sales to count for the chart week? Shouldn't any shipment made during the chart week count? Particularly since the Amazon purchase includes a digital copy, so it's technically instantly delivered

2-3m is such a huge range, who knows how this will pan out. It does seem HITS is uncertain about a lot of things at this point. Maybe they'll have more answers for us tomorrow for their "one day" report. We see it's dominating online, I wonder how physical copies are doing. I got mine at Target and it was really busy tonight so when I went to check out I was asked to go to the customer service line to check out. I was told by the cashier she had seen that album all day...at the customer service checkout

Also not sure why anybody would buy the digital on Amazon for 10.99 when you can get the cd for 9.99 with the digital version included

Regardless of 2-3 million, it's amazing to be over 1 million. The album is great and it's so nice see an artist appeal to so many people while being completely authentic.

But, they might have gotten their copies on Wednesday/Thursday to prevent deliveries before street date. Anyway, an album sold and shipped by Amazon through Thursday should count for SS.

Well, we already know she sold 300k in one day in the UK, so I imagine it's a massive first day total in the US.

The fact that this can be called after one day of sales and she has yet to make an official TV appearance yet in the US Anyone know the details of her promo? I heard she's doing at least a pre-taped skit on SNL along with performing. Will she be an official guest on Fallon or just sing? I think the Today appearance is one of those "mini-concerts."

After a day on sale, forecasters say '25' could sell at least 2.5 million in its first week in the U.S. After one day on sale, Adele's 25 appears set to break *NSYNC's long-standing one-week Nielsen-era U.S. album sales record of 2.42 million sold, according to industry forecasters. Sources say the set is on track to sell at least 2.5 million in pure album sales in its first week, and sold more than 900,000 copies alone through the iTunes Store on its first day of release. The 10 Most Heartbreaking Lyrics From Adele's '25' 25 was released on Nov. 20 through XL/Columbia Records. It's Adele's third studio album. *NSYNC currently owns the single largest sales week for an album since Nielsen Music began tracking point-of-sale music purchases in 1991. (Prior to 1991, there was no authoritative music sales tracking service in the U.S. and thus, it was mostly unknown how many copies of an album or song/single were sold in a single week.) *NSYNC's No Strings Attached debuted with 2,416,000 sold in the week ending March 26, 2000. No Strings Attached has since remained the only album to sell 2 million copies in the U.S. in a single week. Adele's '25' Won't Be On Streaming Services Nielsen Music's tracking week runs Friday through Thursday each week, so 25's first week will conclude on Nov. 26. Billboard is scheduled to report 25's debut week sales on Nov. 29, once Nielsen has finished processing its weekly data. Before 25's release, it was reported that the album shipped 3.6 million physical copies to retailers. In addition, sources were forecasting 25's CD configuration to sell 1.5 million in its first week, while its digital edition could move another 1 million (meaning, its first week might be at least 2.5 million in total). Now perhaps the question is: How much bigger can 25 get? Will it blow past the 2.5 million threshold? Can it hit 3 million? And what will 25 sell in its second and third week? Could it become the first album to sell a million copies in more than one week? Adele Powers Through Lifetime of Regret on '25': Album Review If 25 sells as expected, it will become the 20th album to sell at least a million copies in a single week in the Nielsen era. It would also instantly be the largest selling album of 2015 in total, surpassing the sales of Taylor Swift's 1989, which has sold 1.74 million this year (through Nov. 12). 25 is also on course to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Dec. 12), which would give the diva her second No. 1. She first led the list with her last album, 21, which spent 24 nonconsecutive weeks atop the list -- most weeks at No. 1 for an album by a woman. 21 has sold 11.23 million copies in the U.S., and is the tenth-largest selling album of the Nielsen era. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6770264/adele-25-nsync-no-strings-attached-nielsen-soundscan-billboard-charts

What would be considered a "disappointment" for the first week? Clearly, anything over a million is obviously amazing, but with the amount of spectacle and buzz surrounding this, I think it is safe to say anything under breaking NSYNCS record would be considered disappointing based on how often it was brought up.

She sold 900k in a day at iTunes alone. Nothing will be a disappointment. The predictions yesterday had her selling a million digital albums for the week, and she's already blown past that.
