So is Sugarland officially no more? They are on hiatus to pursue solo projects. This is one of the last things Jennifer said about the group and them coming back together.

The longer the hiatus lasts though the more I think they may never get back together, sadly. I really hope they do but I just don't know anymore. It's a shame though because solo neither of them is ever going to amount to much at country radio, but together they were huge.
I am really looking forward to hearing this one though. "Sugar" was great and definitely piqued my interest for this project more than "That Girl" ever did for her last one.

Not too impressed with it. Sounds like it could have been a bonus track from her last album. Not terrible, but not great. Won't do anything on radio I'm sure. :(

I love this. I was highly disappointed by the That Girl album, so it's nice to have a different era emerging with a new producer.I know Rick Rubin is known more for his "bare-bones" productions and all, but I feel Dann Huff will be a much better fit. She recently said to a radio station that with the That Girl album, she didn't have a vision, she just wanted to sing, and have a good time. Now, she said with this new material, she is coming back into her own skin after the birth of her son. (Interview). It truly feels that way with "Sugar" and now "Unlove You." She again sounds like the voice I fell in love with years ago. This new song is giving me vocal vibes of something like "Keep You" from the Love On The Inside album. I don't know, I guess it's just nice to have new music from Jennifer that isn't obscure like I felt That Girl was.

If a single drops in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound?

If a single drops in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? MR Not sure what this is supposed to mean, but it says in the first post of the thread that it goes to radio next month and the adds date isn't until January, so it hasn't been released yet.

I really like this song -- it almost sounds like something that would have been on Sugarland's Gold And Green album -- vocally, not lyrically, as Jennifer's voice sounds quite good here...but I'm puzzled why this was chosen as the first single. It just screams getting lost in the shuffle and I can't see this one doing much more than the top 40. Jenn's got a good label behind her but we'll see how this slow ballad with a indistinguishable title performs at radio.

THIS is the Jennifer I "know" and love, as far as vocals go. No gymnastics, just straight up and from the heart. Beautiful song, very well done.

Story Behind Unlove You
There was a full page ad in both Billboard and Country Aircheck this week letting radio know the song is available on MPE. Should we expect add's to happen or will radio hold off possibly until January?

When I saw Jennifer Sunday night, she said that it's available for download now. However, we can expect it on radio in mid January. The album, Playing with Fire is to be released March 25, 2016. Her live performance of this song reminded me of why I fell in love with her in the first place. Such a pure vocalist.

I guess what I meant was Radio has it now with MPE, will they play it now or hold off until the January Add date. Did she say the March 25th date at the show? All I've heard her say was around the end of March, so a date for sure would be nice to have.

Yesterday was really the last big add day before the holidays. Some stations will add a few songs next week but after that I wouldn't expect many adds until the week of January 4 and 11. I imagine Jennifer will probably get a handful of adds next week and then again on January 4, but the majority of stations will wait until the 11th. Late March seems just a tad early for the album release (given that the single doesn't impact until the 2nd week of January), but it could happen. I wouldn't be surprised if the album winds up coming out in April or May, though.

I can't imagine Jennifer climbing well enough with "Unlove You" to garner a March 25th release. I'm sure it will do great at radio, but within that short window of time, I am skeptical that the album will be pushed back.

This was uploaded to Jennifer's youtube/vevo page. I'm not sure what "static version" means exactly. I assume it's just an audio video so stations can post it when they do the battles rather than using the live videos that have been using this week.

I know Brandy's single comes out a month after Jennifer's and her album is set for April 1st. I know with Brandy's case that they probably aren't expecting radio to take to the single. If Jen's release day sticks or the album, I can't help but to wonder if Big Machine isn't expecting much from radio. I know Jen said in an interview with Michael Jay that she doesn't really care about the charts or keep track of them. If a song reaches #1 or does well, that's great. If it doesn't, it doesn't really bother her too much. The whole process of the charts and keeping track could drive her crazy if she let herself put too much thought into it. She had someone tell her early on not to pay attention to it because it's like the stock market, it'll rise and drop, if you put too much stock into it it'll drive you crazy. So she chooses not to pay or give much mind to it. Kind of unrelated but not, I talked to someone else about this all too and they got all, the label needs it to do well to recoup the cost of everything. I don't think that's the case with Jen. I know with Sugarland that they paid for everything out of pocket when it came to their albums and the label would recoup the cost of the album to them. I believe they paid for the videos as well or used the money that the label recouped for the videos. I just remember hearing them say that somewhere. That they did things differently than most and never took advances from the label especially early on. I am pretty sure Jen does the same thing with her stuff. So I don't think the label is looking to recoup the cost of making the album and what not. But yeah, end of March seems early but I'm kind of hoping it sticks. I've been waiting on this new album since she started recording it in May. I'm more than ready for it. NOTE: Sorry for the double post. I didn't really want to combine that video with this response.

Jennifer Nettles talks about her new album 'Playing with Fire' to be released in 2016.
Also in the video is Scott Borchetta talking a little about Jennifer and the project as well. He seems excited and supportive of the new music from her claiming it's the best she's ever been and that she brought them an album full of hits.

I hated "Sugar" but this is great! I doubt it's going to do much for her, though. As a side note, I think "That Girl" was a masterpiece. It was way too polarizing for radio, but for me it is easily the best thing she has ever done.

I'm curious to see how this performs in 2016. I unfortunately can't find any stations yet playing this on All Access but I still feel good about how this song will do.

Sometimes (many times, even) stations jump aboard a song before the add date for new artists or someone like Jenn, who has yet to have a hit solo single. "Jesus And Jones" and "Dance With Ya" are getting starter spins and haven't gone for adds yet, so it might be interesting to see how many stations jump to add this one before the add date. I think that's what raylatch98 was going for in his post.

I hope this is a hit for Jennifer cause country needs more consistent female hit makers.

I'm loving the single and I'm excited for the new album and tour but I don't know how well this will do on radio. I'm hopeful that Big Machine knows what they're doing picking this one but I have a gut feeling this will do about as well as "Me Without You" :(
