I don't understand your logic. So evil Beyonce and Bruno Mars forced their way into the Superbowl Performance to steal Coldplay's shine? Is that honestly how you think any of this works? They were all asked to perform, so they did. Coldplay was the headliner and Beyonce and Bruno were supporting acts. It's that simple, stop trying to make it some backstage soap opera with poor Chris Martin cowering in the corner while Bruno and Beyonce throw lit matches at him. Thanks for your rude comments. Now please go back and read my opinions again. Anyways, I offered my opinion and I'm not trying to start an argument. All I wanted was less of those two, more Coldplay...since it was THEIR show. That's it. Doesn't need to be misconstrued.

It was OK. I think the issue for some is "turning it over" to others, when you're the headliner. There have been times when the guests perform with the headliner and don't have their own performance; in this case, Coldplay (or CBS/NFL) opted to give the guests their own time.

I guess they could have said something like "No, we're not performing. Been there, done that, this is Coldplay's time to shine and we know that is only possible if we don't perform, so we're gonna sit this out." Doesn't sound very logical, does it? I'm sorry you feel that they outshined Coldplay, but they did nothing wrong by performing. Take it up with the NFL.

I thought Bruno was a totally pointless addition; he literally has nothing to do with Coldplay or Beyoncé, besides performing on a previous Super Bowl. Beyoncé would have made more sense had they performed "Hymn For The Weekend", but they didn't. Even Tove Lo would have been an awesome addition for her minimal contribution to "Fun".

I enjoyed the show. The vibe was so different because it was so bright outside. What was the last Superbowl Halftime performance done in that much daylight? But it worked for the show. Chris looked like he was having fun. Bruno and Beyonce slayed and brought some much needed flavor. All three of them on stage was too cute. Joyful, colorful, flashy. A win for everyone involved. Not the most memorable, but it worked.
I was in a packed bar and everyone was having a great time watching.

I loved it, but I wish Hymn, Clocks, The Scientist, or Princess of China were one of the songs performed. Yonce was on point and now I like Formation Bruno didn't do shit for me.

I thought it was nice. I thought they all did great. I thought Coldplay's music fitted the show nicely too. Great job all around, I enjoyed it.

Didn't care for the halftime show.... A major let down being that this was the 50th super bowl...

Yet to see this but I don't really get what's the point of Coldplay bringing Beyonce on stage when it's clear that the whole performance will be about Queen B then.

This was totally ridiculous. Coldplay is one of the biggest if not the biggest rock/alternative bands in the world with so many big, anthemic hits, and NFL tackled on 2 past SB halftime performers to perform material not related to the main performer? Of those two, Bruno Mars had two short albums when he first performed at SB and since then he was only featured on one song. Couldn't they give him 10 years so he would churn out at least two new albums of material? I could understand Beyonce appearing to perform the new Coldplay single, but instead she did her own song, released a day ago.
All in all, if I were Coldplay, I would tell NFL to FO, because Coldplay doesn't need that kind of help to fill 12 minutes. Sure, Chris Martin doesn't have a big stage presence and he can't dance, but he wrote so many big songs that they could totally figure out how to make the Coldplay SB halftime show interesting.

I think it was a missed opportunity to not perform Hymn to the Weekend, at least in part, but let's be real here. Coldplay isn't the type of band that gets a crowd excited or makes for great TV. They have good songs, but there's no showmanship in Chris Martin's performances, so they had to add something to make it into a big, in your face halftime show. I also think it was very brave of Pepsi and the NFL and CBS and whoever else has to sign off on these things to let Beyonce do Formation, particularly the way that it was done. I was not at all surprised to see the usual suspects ie conversative polit-ertainment types try to say it was racist because she says the word "Negro".
I do wish they had let her do the line about Red Lobster though...

This was an awful halftime show, Bey and Bruno were so random and not needed. They need to bring back rock acts that the majority of viewers actually like.

I will back the point made about this being in the daytime. It kinda reduced the sparkle this would have had otherwise, but any other performance would have felt it too. Beyonce and Katy in particular really benefitted because of the flash.

Random afterthought: I'm surprised too that they didn't do anything with the audience and the light-up bracelets (oh, excuse me, they're called Xylobands, lol) they've given out at previous live shows. That would have been a neat visual addition to the performance.

Next year I want either Britney, Gaga or Garth. I can totally see it being Garth. I'm surprised he's never done it before.

Gaga and Brit have good chances if they release an album this year, Gaga is confirmed on that. Brit is in studio, but if the record performs like her last, her chances are dead.

I'm actually surprised they haven't gotten somebody like Carrie Underwood. Extremely safe, no possible controversy there, and she can put on a show with recognizable crossover hits.
They haven't had a country artist in the halftime show since Shania, and that was at her most pop.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD please!
I'd be okay with Gaga, Britney, or Swift.
I'd also LOVE to see Garth Brooks do it; kind of dumbfounded as to how he hasn't already done it? But anyway, I think Carrie would nail it!

Yeah, not to mention she's been doing NFL's theme songs for Sunday Night Football (and something else? clearly I don't know #sportsball) for a few years - I feel like she's toward the top of my list of suspected future performers.

I'm glad that they brought back Beyonce for the Super Bowl again because without her it would've been a bore. The start with just Coldplay was really uneventful and I could barely even make out his voice. "Formation" was definitely the highlight for me. I enjoyed all the colorful stage designs and stuff too though.

Garth has never?
I would say the reason they haven't had a country headliner might be because there's a lot more crossover between country music and football so the opportunity for major ratings isn't as high as it is with a non-football artist like a standard pop star.
