This is indeed a cover of the Simon & Garfunkel song.

This is an excellent cover, but this is one of those songs for me that the original just can't be beat.
I love Disturbed and am seeing them live next month; Saint Asonia is opening. I'm so freaking excited!

With this charting, I think this can be moved to the Rock board, Kurt, please move it. Top 50 on Active: 54 50 DISTURBED The Sound Of Silence 74 68 6 0.263

Might be my favorite song from them other than "The Night". I really hope this is single #3, I think it could be a huge hit for them.

I'm more a lurker of this genre nowadays (I was into alternative and overall rock much more throughout the 90s and early 00s), but the song title caught my attention in the Timeline. I clicked on the YouTube link a bit afraid that a rock cover could've destroyed a classic I love. Wrong! I dig this cover a lot!!! I like the guy's vocal dynamics with an emotional clear strong voice in the 2/3 of the song and the angriest interpretation at the end. A good twist on the original. The original is of course unbeatable (among my all-time top 10 songs) but this is really good!

This just feels really weird charting on Active rock. I'm also getting a sort of Xmas music vibe here. It's not terrible. In fact, it's pretty epic. it's just not The Disturbed I'm used to.

Disturbed knows how to make strong covers. "Land of Confusion" is still a lot of fun, and I quite enjoy their take on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". Not sure where this stacks up yet, but I like it, and, outside of "The Light", this would be the easiest single choice off of Immortalized.

Impacts Alternative on February 23. Follow-up to the top 60 smash hit, "The Light".
Also under Cool New Music at Active and Alternative.

I think this a pretty damn awesome cover. For some odd reason, this also has REALLY strong all-format sales... It's been stable in the #45-#60 region on iTunes for quite some time now.

Wow, this is really gorgeous. I'm a sucker for overly dramatic symphonic rock. Disturbed is really doing something right this era. I had never really liked the band at all before, but their last two singles are both phenomenal.

Has this even gone for adds on Active yet or is this all unsolicited play?

^ it's under Cool New Music on both Active and Alternative, so it's safe to say this is next. Funny thing is that it's going for adds on Alternative in a few weeks (as I mentioned a few posts up), but not on Active.

Saw them live last night and this was one of the highlights of their set. David Draiman sounded amazing.

The Light hasn't even left yet? It's leaving next week. Also, this is helping the album to sell as it's now #46 on the Album Sales chart (#59 on the Billboard 200) in it's 24th week of release (at this point, Asylum was at #142). It'll probably be tough to top the 600k or so that Asylum has sold, but the (approximately) 260k it's sold so far is decent for a hard rock album.

This might end up being their biggest hit since "Down With The Sickness". If the sales keep up, I could see this one at least getting a push to Hot AC. I imagine this will top Active for at least a couple weeks. Crazy how big this song is becoming.

This has got to be one of the most bizarre chart runs I have seen. After the album came out I head read some people saying what a great song it was etc but a few months after the album, apperently word got out and it began to climb up the iTunes chart an absurd amount for a rock song in this day and age. Then it rockets up the active chart a month before even being send for adds, cannibalizing their current single, The Light, which was holding steady at #1 before this song came along. The weirdest thing is it doesn't even sound that radio friendly...I agree it was correct to have this as the third single because of how popular it was but I heard this on the radio a couple days ago and it sounded completely out of place. Whoever said this sounds like David Drainman performing a Broadway song is correct because that's definitely the vibe I get from this. Still not sure what to think about the song itself, I haven't liked it too much based off the listens I've had so far but I could see it growing on me.
