Could this rival Umbrella and WFL as her single with the most cultural impact?

This needs to hurry up and get off #1 on the Hot 100 ASAP, I'm getting sick of it.

This is the worst #1 since, well. Idk. The worst #1 in the past year, I'll say that. 7 Years is a great song. But hey this is just my opinion.

its all about the rhythm of the song and how you vibe with it. thats why its so popular not b/c of the lyrics. And also b/c of Drake!

I don't think this will be able to go #1 on Pop since it really slowed down. Not that it really matters at this point, this is already one of her biggest hits. Might not be able to reach Umbrella/We Found Love/Diamonds heights but still huge. I wouldn't group "Diamonds" with those. That was probably her least impactful #1 so far.

Nah that award goes to The Monster.

SOS and Take a Bow probably had less impact than Diamonds. The Monster hasn't aged well either, but that's a collaboration.

Could this rival Umbrella and WFL as her single with the most cultural impact? That's impossible to know. I think this is way worse than Umbrella and WFL, but it's a big hit. Of course time will tell, sometimes big hits end being totally fogotten and songs that wasn't a hit at all end being beloved by the fans of an artist. I think this is too "in the moment" to last, but i could be completely wrong

I suppose it depends of the country. Diamonds has a lot of recurrent airplay here in Spain. In my opinion Diamonds and Stay benefit from being very classical so it won't depend of the changing tendencies in pop music to get played

The official RocNation Twitter page revealed an HQ "Work" performance of Rih and Drake on her Miami show, and also a Drake "Jumpman" performance:

Their chemistry on this song (Rihanna looked so happy during that performance, she freaking laughed during the verse!) and this being probably the only Urban dancehall/reggae song by a mainstream artist to have such an across genre impact in a decade could make this a for sure classic, at least within that genre/audience. I can see this coming on at a dancehall jam years from now and the crowd still going crazy.
I mean, I really don't know if I've seen two artists CLEARLY have THAT much fun on a collaboration.

I wouldn't group "Diamonds" with those. That was probably her least impactful #1 so far. I strongly disagree. "Diamonds" has become one of her signature songs alongside "Umbrella" and "We Found Love", it's still on the Top100s of a lot of countries on iTunes, and it's her 3rd most streamed song on Spotify. I'd say her least impactful #1s are probably "Live Your Life", "The Monster", and "SOS".

i don't really agree with "diamonds" being a signature hit of hers and "sos" being one of the least. i know this board likes to shit on "sos" for whatever reason but i've definitely seen more impact from it than "disturbia" and "only girl". i definitely think "work" will be on the level "umbrella" and "we found love" though.

I meant more in like a cultural impact kind of way. "Diamonds" was definitely successful, but at least in the US, it was never really a "moment" like some of her other hits. No one ever really talked about it or its video or anything, and I haven't heard much of it since it was big. Just a successful song, if that makes sense.
"Stay" felt more impactful honestly.

Is "Kiss It Better" gonna be the next single? Read in Idolator that there's gonna be a Miguel-featured version that'll be released.

Oh ok, I definitely see where you're coming from. Out of the three - Umbrella, We Found Love, Diamonds - I've always placed Diamonds last as far as her signature hits go. However, Diamonds' digital consistency, live performances, and just overall feeling/lyrics amongst all her singles has elevated it to a higher, more secure place amongst her biggest hits in my view. I suspect she'll have to keep it on the setlists for many tours to come just like Umbrella, lmao

Still a bop. Shits insane. So groovy. Yea As much as I cringe most parts of this song in terms of lyrics or whatever you call them, I see this going all the way to the top. Meghan's video for NO really killed its momentum, imo. Cake by the Ocean might get there, too.

And how many #1 Pop songs does she have? I was looking on that one reliable site but it only lists her solos. Is it 11 or 12?
