From the beginning of her second album recording sessions I was told by sources that Republic planned to make her a superstar with this album. We will see what happens, she definitely was given a very nice album budget.

I usually like the music Chris is involved with so I'm looking forward to it. Plus I liked a lot of her debut cd.
On a sidenote how much Chris Brown does his people thing the general public can take of him on the radio?

I'm so disappointed her first single is with Chris Brown. These girls need to learn he's damaged goods in the Pop world. It will have to be extremely out of this world fire for them to make it a hit. It can't be run of the mill generic like "Player" by Tinashe. Don't think it's a good move.

Disappointing.
She gained a huge amount of visibility in the past 2 years for someone still on the Disney Channel. They're smart to bet on her. But this feels like a misstep.
The material best be good. Her debut was fine, but obviously did not light the world on fire itself.

Doubts on it being a a success, well at least not in the US. Chris collabs with female artists nowadays do poorly here, but they end up being good songs so I'll be fine as long as its good.

She's spent the last 2 years building a persona as a black feminist, and then she cashes in on a duet with a domestic abuser?

Did she learn nothing from Rita Ora, Pia Mia, and Tinashe?! My thoughts exactly. Add Keri Hilson, Ester Dean, and Sevyn Streeter (the second time) to the list. The only people that have benefited from a Chris Brown feature that I can think of are Brandy and Sevyn Streeter with It Won't Stop. I don't get why he's still the go to. I don't like him, but I'd understand if the track record was there.

I don't like him, but I'd understand if the track record was there. I think everyone's kinda exaggerating here. "Body On Me" was Rita's biggest hit on Rhythmic, and it wasn't even released to pop. Pia Mia released just the one song and did fairly well for a newcomer. "Player" may not have done well overall, but it brought her much farther on pop than I would've expected considering its sales and failing to do much better than "All Hands On Deck" on Rhythmic. "One Night Stand" and "Don't Kill The Fun" didn't exactly have amazing hooks, so I'm not surprised they didn't do too well. "Drop It Low" still managed a Top 20 on Rhythmic, Top 40 on Pop, and Top 50 on the Hot 100, which is decent considering it was overshadowed by Drake's "Forever" from the soundtrack. And again, look at Brandy and Sevyn Streeter. "Put It Down" was Brandy's biggest radio hit since 2002. "It Won't Stop" exploded after Chris was added, whereas it was struggling before. Chris has done well otherwise on features too. "Sorry" is Rick Ross' biggest hit since "Diced Pineapples" in 2012. "Play No Games" put Big Sean back in the Urban Top 10 after "One Man Can Change The World" flopped, and "My Last" was a debut smash. "Moses" is doing fairly well for French Montana, who has been struggling otherwise. "All Eyes On You" was Meek Mill's biggest hit. "Hold You Down" and "How Many Times" were the biggest hits from DJ Khaled's newest album, while "Take It To The Head" was the biggest from an earlier album. "You Changed Me" was Jamie Foxx's biggest hit since "Fall For Your Type" in 2011, and managed to get his new album out. Kid Ink broke through with "Show Me", and did very well following it up with "Main Chick". "Post To Be" was huge for Omarion, who hasn't had a huge hit since "Ice Box" in 2006. "Only" was Nicki's first Urban #1 since "Moment 4 Life" in 2011. "Beat It" was the song to finally put Sean Kingston's third album out after six previous failures. "Ready" and "Celebration" both did reasonably well for Fabolous and Game respectively. "Birthday Cake" wasn't even released digitally as a full song, but the radio version with Chris Brown was a huge hit. "Another Round" was Fat Joe's first hit since "I Won't Tell" in 2007. "International Love" saw a big rebound from "Rain Over Me", and "Fun" was a decent sized hit as well. "Best Love Song" saw a minor comeback for T-Pain, at least digitally. "Body 2 Body" was a big hit for Ace Hood, and "Better With The Lights Off" did well for New Boyz. And that's just examples since 2010. No, not all of these examples were huge smashes, no, I'm not claiming he's the reason all of these did well, and yes, he's been on some flops as well, but Chris Brown is certainly not radio poison, especially on Rhythmic, where I could honestly see Zendaya focusing. If the quality is there, I doubt Chris would hold it back.

Chris still does more than fine at Urban and Rhythmic. People are generalizing based on his decline at CHR/Pop.

If the quality is there, I doubt Chris would hold it back. You know what 90% of your examples have in common, they were released either on or prior to 2012 when Chris was churning out hits himself and all of them were MINOR hits. Pia Mia, Rita Ora, and Tinashe used Chris Brown for features in 2015, where his stock plummeted, and the songs did nothing for them. Each one now has a delayed album due to the failure of those singles. Another thing is that you used rappers on a majority of your examples. Zendaya is nothing of the sort. Drake could've did the hook to "Only" and it still would've went #1. She's on Hollywood Records and they are putting a massive budget on this project. Her single peaking at #93, #67, #89, #52, etc. on the Hot 100 will not please them. It's a numbers game for them. They want a superstar, not somebody local. If this wall of text was under the Urban/Rhythmic banner than we would have a discussion about where the single could go but on Pop all of those people are DOA.

If this wall of text was under the Urban/Rhythmic banner than we would have a discussion about where the single could go but on Pop all of those people are DOA. Well first of all, no, most of those examples were not released during or before 2012, less than half of them were. Otherwise, yeah you may have a point about them being urban examples, although the post I replied to clearly referenced urban singles itself. "Do It Again" and "Body On Me" were not released to pop, so to judge their pop success is pointless, and both did well on Rhythmic as far as Rhythmic-only singles go. The previously mentioned examples of Keri Hilson and Sevyn Streeter were also urban only. Ester Dean's single was back in 2009, so your idea of pre-2012 moots that one as well. That just leaves "Player", which actually did well on pop radio in relation to its sales. These are the following songs Chris has been featured on since 2013 that were released to pop: "As Your Friend" - Did okay, but didn't exactly have a pop hit melody "Beat It" - Did okay, but was definitely more of an urban song "Show Me" - Followed most urban smashes to a peak right around #20 "Post To Be" - Same as "Show Me" "Five More Hours" - Flopped, but I'm not sure if it actually received an official push "Fun" - Moderate hit, peaking in the Top 20 on pop and Top 40 on Hot 100, similar to other Pitbull singles from the album "Player" - Managed Top 40 on pop, despite flopping digitally So no, he hasn't released a smash, but it's not like he's consistently flopped on features either. Most of the above were urban/rhythmic crossovers. The others were EDM/dance songs, and I doubt that's where Zendaya is going. My point still remains that I don't think Chris is going to hinder the song. If they push it well and it connects, it should still be a hit. If not, I doubt Chris is to blame.

I see your point, and I agree that Chris won't hinder the performance of this song (or most songs). I have a pretty strong personal opinion on Chris that I factor in when I see him as a feature (don't like his voice, don't like him) and wish that the feature was someone else or nobody at all. I actually ended up liking his parts on Player and Five More Hours. I guess another point is that he's been a writer on most of the songs so it's not like he can just be swappped with someone else.

Kind of a tangent, but I remember a few years ago on another forum, someone said that whenever you see someone who is constantly doing features with any and everybody, there is probably something going on (i.e. that person is in constant need of cash flow). They were using Lil Wayne as an example and a lot of people kind of blew it off then...but now we know what Wayne's situation is. I don't think Chris is nearly as hemmed up financially as Wayne currently is, but I say that to say that it may not be so much about all these artists' teams thinking they need to run to Chris. Chris himself may be the one trying to get in as much work as possible, and it's not a hard sell if you want in at urban and rhythmic because the odds are still in favor of him helping you there.
I am sure Republic wants Zendaya to be a breakout though, and Chris does nothing for anyone on CHR. They should have taken a song he wrote (he's very good at it) but rejected the feature.

My problem with her working with Chris Brown is that she just doesn't seem like the person who would even consider working with him given his personality and reckless past.
I am interested to hear this, though. "Replay" was amazing and the follow-up, "My Baby," was pretty good too. I even checked out her debut album and while it wasn't anything I would be interested in purchasing, it did leave me thinking that with the right direction, she could be absolutely massive. So hopefully she gets there. She just seems like such a great girl.

Artwork: (from AllAccess)The track was premiered today in a couple of radio stations today and it's currently under Cool New Music on AllAccess. By default, you could listen to the track, which length is 3:33 min., there.

Disappointed. It's not bad, but it feels more like album filler than a lead single.

This is alright. It sort of has a bouncy spring-time vibe.
Damn at her neck in that artwork tho. Who knows, maybe it's an indication this will have some longevity even though I don't see it doing as well as "Replay". #Neckdaya

From the beginning of her second album recording sessions I was told by sources that Republic planned to make her a superstar with this album. We will see what happens, she definitely was given a very nice album budget. It was executive produced by Timbaland, but his material hasn't been that stellar outside of Justin You mean recently ? Btw I'm disappointed with this song. Truth is, the sample does everything. Without it the beat would sound like basically any trap beat we hear on the radio these days. Timbaland clearly lost his genius.

He really needs a co-producer that can help push the best out of his creatively because these new people he is working with, Milli Beatz and Fade Majah, has been very lackluster. I will take J-Roc back at this point because there was at least some depth to the work. Plus his arrogant attitude lately isn't helping his craft.
