she was in the studio with Miguel.. I wonder if they're going to do a re-release or a new album before the tour.. I doubt the latter unless it's something for Miguel's project

Tickets aren't selling well. There's a buy 2 get 2 promotion going on. She needs to make an album with at least 6 potential singles. She's stuck in the old Disney routine where you put out an album with 2 good songs and the era can't make it a year. I hope it's a re-release and her next project is more consistent. What she needs is a song or remix with Nick Jonas. Why they didn't have that in the works while doing a duel tour is beyond me. Her being on Closer would've been way more mutually beneficial for them than Tove Lo.

So this is the Subway Buzz Song of the week on AT40 this week. It's wasted on 'Stone Cold', I mean just look at it. It'll be purged on Sunday. 34 40 DEMI LOVATO Stone Cold 990 1291 -301 3.669 -95 Spins -124 Bullet -0.629 Audience

I have to wonder if the label's abandoned ship on this because it's absolutely dying. Out of top 50 on Hot AC already, and it really only started gaining any traction there a week ago. 34 38 DEMI LOVATO Stone Cold 1135 1277 -142 4.749 -65 Spins -102 Bullet -0.546 Audience I honestly think they did EVERYTHING completely ass-backwards with this single. Video first, then performances and radio last? Was Demi expecting that it would catch on and be a sales monster thanks to all her performances, so radio had no choice but to play it? 'Cause that clearly didn't happen, and it seems there was no contingency plan. I think that's what they were counting on that. Kind of like when Adele performs an emotional ballad it would take off on ITunes and get people talking. Demi seems like she was going for that special moment and it just didn't seem to come. It's not awful I guess but it's chorus isn't catchy enough to take this song to the radio hit level.

So a song that had a +230 bullet on a format where the #50 song only has 180 spins itself only took two days to drop from the top 50? That really speaks about the songs run.

So when are we expecting the fourth single's radio release? After she performs it ten times and releases two music videos for it?

Last era she went from an underperformer/flop single to a radio hit. Maybe radio will give her another try??? I guess "Kingdom Come" or "Old Ways".

I really hope Old Ways is next. Radio release late May followed by the video and some performances. I'm happy she got to release her favourite song as a single, but they should've let it be the last single to close the era unless this is the last single.

They should just go back into the studio and launch a new campaign next spring. Or do a re-release with a new song. This project has her career on a downward slant right now.

I think it was all fine before this. Confident didn't do amazing but it did better on the Hot 100 then all of her singles from the last era bar Heart Attack, and CFTS did very well for her track record, but this is doing worse than Made In The USA. It will probably never chart.

Eh, prior to this album, her performance overall (though not too much in just album sales) kept increasing. CFTS did well on radio, but not too hot in either callout or sales. Confident again got support, but needed price cuts to give it decent sales boosts. All in all, this project has yielded less success than the previous. But that said, she's still in a position where something completely new will still generate interest.

Good call from whoever decided so.
Actually, a feature or a duet this year would be a good move. Whether it's on a Dance, R&B, or Rap single.

I don't understand why stop now? There are more single worthy tracks and it's not going to hurt anything by sending out at least one more.

I don't understand why stop now? There are more single worthy tracks and it's not going to hurt anything by sending out at least one more. Maybe it wouldn't hurt, but the real problem with this era is that CFTS and Confident are good reflectors of the type of material that was on this album, and they didn't take off the way most of us would have expected. If she couldn't break top ten with those two songs what good reason is there to expect anything else to perform differently? I say this as someone who still thinks it was a solid effort overall; objectively it is full of catchy, radio-friendly material. But for some reason she just didn't click with this era, and I don't think releasing more singles or trying to reboot with a re-release would reverse that. It would be a wiser investment of time and money to move on to something new.

^ On top of all this, I wouldn't be totally surprised if the lack of future singles is also partially a dummy-spit reaction from Demi for the era not being an all-encompassing smash.
I mean, first 'Cool For The Summer' missed top 10 on the Hot 100, but I guess she could've brushed that off because for her, the album was just soooo good, and important, and her best work. Then the album missed #1 - not only that, but by a very small margin. To add insult to injury, Demi - who is a proven hitmaker - was beaten out by Pentatonix who, sure, have been doing well for themselves especially of late, but they had no hit singles. That may have smarted.
Then 'Confident' didn't exactly connect either. I think the final straw would've been 'Stone Cold' going absolutely nowhere. As far as success goes, this era has progressively been more and more of a black hole, and I bet Demi's pissed nothing did as well as she wanted.
Anyway, I assume yesterday's gain was its final hurrah because today:
R R DEMI LOVATO Stone Cold 824 1200 -376 3.117
-71 Spins -49 Bullet -0.241 Audience

I'm fine with her moving onto a different project if it's good. She has been borderline insufferable to me throughout this album's campaign. Everything just feels so forced. It was so cringe-worthy when she was going on about how she wanted the Grammy committee to hear "Stone Cold." The song is just not that good. She's had much better ballads before. "Shouldn't Come Back," in particular, sticks out to me. It's subtle but much more effective than SC, which has always struck me as completely OTT.

Bummed, but not surprised, that this flopped. I love this song though and I know Demi does obviously, so I'm still glad this got released and we got some killer performances out of it. I'm sure she could've had at least another moderate Top 30 hit on CHR with something else from the record, but her momentum was already slipping as this era progressed so I guess in the end this being released wasn't that huge of a miss. I do wish this could've been a hit but I wasn't really expecting it to happen.
I love the Confident album, but I'm also totally okay with her coming back with something new for her next single release, whenever that may be. <3

If she ends this era without releasing "Kingdom Come" will be a huge mistake. That song belongs on the radio and should be heard by the general public. Missed opportunity.

Demi needs to leave Holly Wood Records She's on her own label, which is in partnership with both Hollywood and Republic Records. Republic's team, which is generally viewed as the best in the business (though it has endured quite a few misses recently), has been handling radio promo. She's not going to realistically be able to upgrade in that regard. While I don't disagree that the radio strategy for this particular single was baffling, the blame still has to lie with the song. Demi performed this song everywhere and generally received strong reviews for those performances. It's also an emotional ballad, and those kinds of songs usually convert when performed live. This one never did; she was simply never able to move the needle from a sales standpoint. That's absolutely a statement on America's tepid reaction to this track.

I think Kingdom Come's chorus would become too old too fast on radio, and Iggy on it won't help. I think Old Ways is her best shot at another top 10 on CHR with this album

Nearly every time she performed the song, it got a huge increase on iTunes. Granted, the increase was from outside of top 200 or 500 to around 60s or 80s. But, yeah. This was a poor song choice. She had more radio-friendly options, including other ballads.

Yup poor single choice specially given time of year, this should've been a moderate Dec-Feb hit Old Ways really is the only thing left on this album that I'd want as a single now, 2 late for For You, and Kingdom Come iz 2 late cuz Iggy has Team. Nothing else at the album really screamed at being a hit, except Waitin For You but that already got a video so nope.

The other songs on the album that could work as singles would have really needed a good lead-in to make it on radio. Without any momentum going for her right now, I can't imagine anything remaining on the album being a hit, even the fan-beloved "Wildfire", which I maintain blends way too much into the rest of the album to be a standout track.
I think a brand new song and album re-release could do wonders for her before her tour starts. The tour starts in 2 months though, so she doesn't have much time to make that happen.
