Why can't this be a top 10 hit? Such a great song, and I feel like if Luke Bryan or Chris Young cut this track with a female artist then it's a for sure number 1. Why can't a great band like JAB take this top 10?

Why can't a great band like JAB take this top 10? For starters, they're not a well-known act and they're not on a very big label, although with Reviver's 1608 team promoting this song to radio, this is probably the best situation they've been in so far. It takes a lot of money for an independent artist (and these guys are independent -- they're on their own label but made a deal with 1608 to handle radio promotion) to push a song up the charts. Based on comments from Josh Abbott and how determined the group seems to be about making this their 'national breakthrough', I do think "Wasn't That Drunk" can be a hit. But if it does go top 20 or even top 10, it's not likely to happen until 2017.

1608 is a full promotion staff too. Reviver had enough resources and income to start up the promo team and this song is the only one they're working to radio, which helps a ton. The only reasons this one isn't on more stations at the moment is because like jhomes87 mentioned, Josh and Carly are not well known artists (outside of Texas) and this promotion staff is still getting familiar with radio. I'm confident we'll see them stick with this song for a long while yet. I don't quite think this will be a big hit, but a solid top 40 -- maybe cusp of the top 30 isn't out of the question.

JAB had Kacey Musgraves on a song before she broke through. Think they can do likewise with Carly?
Pandora gave me this song and I loved it.

JAB had Kacey Musgraves on a song before she broke through. Think they can do likewise with Carly? I think she can. She had a "Developmental deal" with Sony 4 years ago but they moved on from her without assigning her to the recording roster. She's still plenty young and talented to attract the eye of another label and "Wasn't That Drunk" looks like her big break. She's also one of my very favorite people on social media; she always seems to go out of her way to converse with as many fans who take the time to tweet of message her and her demeanor is infectious. I love her live videos, including this one of a song called "Just Another Girl."

I saw Carly open for Kelsea Ballerini in November and she was great live and had some great songs. I'd love to see her get a deal after the success of this song!

I saw Carly and JAB together in March and they both did a tremendous job. The crowd was a little dull for Carly because she was sandwiched between a bro-country opener and JAB, but she killed. She was absolutely terrific.
I think this song is gonna be a big hit though, it'll take a while to move up, but I think when it gets to about 25 or so, it'll take off like a rocket. There's just something about it.

Josh Abbott Band & Carly Pearce "Wasn't That Drunk" gained 6 spots this week to set a new peak of #44.
I think this can make the Top 40 on BB, but I think that's all this one will do as I have this slight suspicion that "Wasn't That Drunk" isn't going to last a lot longer.

Finally! Top 40 on the AirPlay chart. After coming so close with Oh, Tonight (w/ Kasey Musgraves) and Touch. Let's see what this song can do.
Great song but still think Oh, Tonight was a classic that should have caught fire.

I'm happy for anyone that gets their first top 40 hit but I'm more excited that Craig Campbell's "Outskirts of Heaven" made the top 40. Now if Josh Turner, Michael Ray and Thompson Square can all make it to the top 40 I'll be happy!

Now if Josh Turner, Michael Ray and Thompson Square can all make it to the top 40 I'll be happy! Michael Ray should easily enter the Top 40 next week on BB as he has the advantage of Bob Kingsley Country Top 40 spins and we will see 4 recurrent songs in the Top 30 (Chris Lane, Eric Church, Jon Pardi and Florida Georgia Line) so that opens up 4 spots in the Top 40. Keith Urbans new single "Blue Ain't Your Color" will easily be in the Top 40 (maybe even Top 30). Michael Ray and Brantley Gilbert will as well as both men are moving at a good pace. The last spot looks to be a tossup between The Band Perry, Dustin Lynch, Trent Harmon and Josh Turner. Thompson Square won't make the Top 40. At least not anytime soon. The duo lost their bullet this last week, and the absolute highest I see them getting this next week would be #53 (Lauren Alaina will 100% percent pass them and I wouldn't be shocked if Kane Brown debuts ahead of them either) signifies that Thompson Square have a long way to go before they crack the Top 40 (if they even do as their on Week 9 now on BB and they have yet to even crack the Top 50).

I'm glad to see "Wasn't That Drunk" making a little noise. I was actually pretty optimistic when this was released, especially because Josh said several times that he believed this song could be their first mainstream hit and that they were thinking/hoping it could make the top 20. That told me that they were gonna go all-in on this song and so I'm not surprised that Reviver/1608 has gotten this top 40. I'm not necessarily saying I expect this to go top 20, but I do think it's possible when all is said and done. Reviver has had some great success with LoCash, and it helps Josh Abbott Band that they're the only ones getting promoted by Reviver's 1608 imprint right now.

OMG I completely forgot about Lauren Alaina. So it looks like the Top 40 will be filled by Brantley Gilbert, Keith Urban, Michael Ray and Lauren Alaina (maybe Lauren Alaina or Keith Urban challenge the Top 30). I do wonder if the lack of stations (compared to the songs around it) will hinder this song in the near future (kinda like what we saw last year with Reba McEntires "Going Out Like That) cause isn't it like 65 stations on the MB Panel that have added "Wasn't That Drunk".

Despite me growing to like this song, this song did about as well as I thought it would. This songs total stations were always lacking behind its competitors so I always had a suspicion it's lack of stations would catch up to this song.

Sorry to see JAB go recurrent tonight. Glad that they finally hit the Top 40. Outside of Granger Smith and Backroad Song, of the most recent Texas acts that have hit (or came close to) the Top 40 country airplay, it seems like mid 30's is pretty much what you can hope for - at least for the first hit to make the Top 40. A few recent examples that I can think of: Saturday Night - Wade Bowen– hit 39 That Look Aaron Watson – hit 47 Pound Sign (#?*!) - Kevin Fowler – hit 34 and That Girl hit 45 One More Sad Song – Randy Rogers – hit 37 When It Rains - Eli Young Band - hit 34
All of these songs deserved much better.

Sunny Sweeney got a Top 10 hit with her first mainstream single... but then she got two that peaked in the 30s so those were more akin to the norm, it seems. And of course now she's back to being a Texas act again. She deserved better but I am forever grateful "From a Table Away" was at least able to be a surprise hit. Looking back it's crazy to think that one did that well. Also in regards to "Wasn't That Drunk," it's a shame it didn't do better as well. I liked this one quite a bit, and I am glad I heard it on the radio a few times at least.

Really sad as well that this single did not do better than I hoped, but it really did get pretty far and that's good. Hope Josh Abbott Band can get another single like that up the Country Airplay charts and I'm sure they will. I really love Carly Pearce's voice and if I hadn't of listened to this song, I would have had no idea who she is.
