Oh god, not this again. It's way too early to be slapping the "one hit wonder" label on any of these artists right now. A year and a half ago everyone was so sure Meghan Trainor would be a one hit wonder and look what happened.

Not exactly. Almost everyone predicted OMI would be a one-hit wonder and how many were surprised to find out he was? Also, I'm not slapping one-hit wonder on any of these artists, just saying they haven't had a second Top 40 hit yet and making predictions in the future. Do you get this pissy over the "Predictions of 2016" thread?

A year and a half ago everyone was so sure Meghan Trainor would be a one hit wonder and look what happened. These predictions have been done the past few years and will likely be continued to be done so, it's always fun to predict an artist's fate after their first hit. If you don't like it, don't click on it.

They also predicted Rihanna, Soulja Boy, Katy Perry, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lorde, Iggy Azalea, Meghan Trainor and Tove Lo would be one hit wonders. If you call every new artist a one hit wonder it's gonna hit at least once but most of the time you'll be wrong.

Zayn - Pillowtalk No
Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out No not on the hot 100 but on pop radio possibly.
G-Eazy - Me, Myself, & I Well this is surprising it's such a big hit. I don't see him getting as big of a hit on his own without another featured artist.
Rozes - Roses I don't count this, Since it's a feature.
DNCE - Cake By the Ocean No way.
Lukas Graham - 7 Years I don't get the appeal of this still but I think it could be 50-50 for their following singles.
Yo Gotti - Down in the DM Yes
Camilla Cobello - I Know What You Did Last Summer Don't count this either.
Daya - Hide Away Definitely not.
Kevin Gates - 2 Phones No way, he's only going to get bigger
James Bay - Let It Go Probably

just going to ignore my personal opinion of hits not being a simple as "it went top 40 for one week it counts!" and judge by what the thread tells me
Zayn
lol of course he won't be a ohw
Twenty One Pilots - Stressed Out
you never know since this is pretty much the token alt hit for pop radio but they have a big fanbase so...
G-Eazy - Me, Myself, & I
idk I think he has a decent sized fanbase and he could probably make another pop friendly song so
Rozes - Roses
fucked if I know
DNCE - Cake By the Ocean
idk they might get another hit but if the ep is anything to go by I don't see anything being bigger than this
Lukas Graham - 7 Years
idk
Yo Gotti - Down in the DM
I actually would've thought that he would have done better on the urban charts before this, but then again I didn't expect this to be a massive hit so idk
Camilla Cabello - I Know What You Did Last Summer
dunno if she's going solo
Daya - Hide Away
idk I can see "Don't Let Me Down" becoming a hit but she also could suffer from "hide away" not being a big hit and having little hype
Kevin Gates - 2 Phones
he'll probably have another hit
James Bay - Let It Go
idk

I'm going to need the YT population to stop coupling in Urban/R&B/Rap acts in the one-wonder realm. Many people you have classified as One-Hit Wonders have hit Top 20 and above on the charts that are less frequently visited *cough* Hot Rap Tracks/ Hot R&B & Hip-Hop Songs *cough*. This is the SECOND time Nicki Minaj has elevated a Yo Gotti song, 5 Star, which also helped put her on the map. You wouldn't know that... obviously.

For the most part, none of these will Except, ROZES(happens to almost every artist who fts on a major electronic/dance hit) James Bay is a half & half chance, depends on how he is promoted and what they put next Lukas seems like a one hit wonder artists like that guy who snag Bad Day, forgot his name.

If Zara Larsson & MNEK join this list soon, I would say Zara won't be and MNEK will be. Although maybe it's too early to be predicting this.

It's likely going to be a left-field European crossover hit, and with few exceptions those types tend to be where their American success ends.

Lush Life is going to be a summer smash, so no, Zara won't be a one hit wonder unless they make a very dumb move of not re-releasing Lush Life for summer.

As stated above, I believe both of them are headed for one-hit wonder status in the United States. It's one of those left-field European dance crossover hits. These tend to produce one-hit wonders, and neither of them have a big profile stateside. While I think Zara has a better chance of averting this than MNEK, I don't think the chances are high for either of them. Also, isn't this only the second UK garage song to crack the US Top 40? The first was "Latch" by Disclosure, and they didn't fare much better than a minor alternative radio backed by Lorde afterwards.

Unless MNEK decides to actively court the US market he could well be a one-hit-wonder there, but no way in hell is Zara going to end up with the OHW distinction. 'Never Forget You' is her third attempt to crack the American market, her label is clearly invested in making her happen and whether it's with a re-release of 'Lush Life' or something new, there is no way they're not going to try and capitalize on the success of 'Never Forget You'.
And I don't buy that it's a random left-field European crossover considering the evidence of Zara's label really pushing for her international breakout. In no way is 'Never Forget You' a fluke, it was a calculated push which is paying off.

'Uncover', beginning of 2015. Got 15 adds on impact but never made top 50. I mean neither did 'Lush Life', but that one at least got closer.

And this has even gained faster than "7 Years".

But it is possible. OHWROZES James Bay (sadly) Camila Cabello Lukas Graham (sadly) MNEK Not sure abouttwenty one pilots (I just can't imagine "Ride" doing that well in airplay. I think it will hit the Hot 100, but it won't go too high.) Yo Gotti (not sure. I'm sure fans of DITDM will look through his music and become fans. It's happened to Fetty Wap, Bryson Tiller, and will happen to Kevin Gates.) Not OHWZAYN (I think his next single, whatever it will be, will be a hit. With the fanbase, he will get another hit) G-Eazy DNCE Kevin Gates Daya (I can see Don't Let Me Down being a hit) Zara Larsson

Many Europeans try to break the US market and end up being OHWs at best.

Yeah, I don't see Bipolar Sunshine having much of a future stateside after this song finishes its run. DJ Snake by this point is a bonafide EDM crossover star, and he only scored a hit by being the vocalist of Snake's song. Hardly anyone in the US knows who he is, and I doubt anyone cares about him or his former band Kid British. He's done.
