There are quite a few factors that help an album’s chances of being nominated at the Grammy Awards: critical acclaim, hit singles, the most popular genres, the artist’s Grammy history, and perhaps the hardest factor to ignore — total album sales.
To help guide you in your predictions this awards season, I have compiled a list of the top 30 best-selling albums eligible for the Grammy Awards (see below). The sales tally is based on physical and digital sales only, so no streaming is counted. Peak positions on the Billboard 200 albums chart (which does take streaming into account) are listed, and when applicable weeks at the number-one spot are listed as well. And to show its reception among critics, the album’s Metacritic score is included.
