I really don't see Light's Come On being a bigger hit than Wasted Time, but I guess that's just my opinion. I also don't see the need for the huge push from BBR when it's clear that the song was gonna get to #1 either way. Friendly competition sure, but really no need for it when this day and age it's all about "every song taking their turn" - not saying that's the way we want it or that it should be, but let's face it.. that's usually how it goes whether we want it to or not. The last time Keith was in this position, he got screwed over so I'm REALLY hoping that it doesn't happen again. Luke is a label mate of Keith's so hopefully Cap is willing to only push for 1 week for Luke so Keith can get his turn as well. Maybe if Jason goes up ahead of Keith, then Keith can actually be the one to grab 2 weeks at the top before Carrie gets there. A lot can happen still... and for once, I have full faith that Wasted Time will get to the top!! Ok, "Lights Come On" is definitley a bigger hit, as Jason's song has been higher on iTunes than Keith. I just think Jason is going to move ahead of Keith and attempt two weeks on BB. I know your passionate about Keith but Jason Aldean has been ahead of Keith on sales for a long time now, the only time Keith wasn't behind was the album release for Keith. I just think Jason's song has proven too be more of a hit as it's constantly been in the Top 10 on iTunes while Keith languishes in the teens.

I just think Jason's song has proven too be more of a hit as it's constantly been in the Top 10 on iTunes while Keith languishes in the teens. I disagree that "Lights Come On" is the bigger hit -- sure, it's marginally higher on iTunes than "Wasted Time" is, but that was to be expected. "Lights Come On" is a lead single that is not available on an album. "Wasted Time" is the 3rd single from an album ( Ripcord) that's sold over 160,000 copies in just a few weeks. That makes a pretty big difference. It's possible that Jason could hit #1 before Keith does, but even if that's the case, I don't see Jason trying for multiple weeks on top as there's really not much for he or his label to gain. "Lights Come On" is a decent-sized hit, but there's no album in sight, so I'd think BBR would take a 1-week #1 and then move on to a 2nd single as quickly as possible, that way that 2nd single is as high on the charts as possible when the album inevitably comes out later this summer. I agree that Luke could possibly get 2 weeks at #1, and then it could go Jason and then Keith, but I think it's also possible (and perhaps more likely) that Keith will push back ahead of Jason next week and make a surge for #1. Keith and his team probably want to get the next single out fairly quickly, especially if they're gonna go with "The Fighter" since that one already has quite a bit of buzz and they've been sitting on it for 6 weeks now (since the album release) so that they could allow "Wasted Time" enough time to get to #1. So I'm actually thinking that Luke will get just the 1 week at #1, and then I think Keith will push back ahead of Jason next week and get a week at #1, and he'll be followed by Jason and then Carrie. Luke co-hosted Lon Helton's countdown last weekend and he's on again this weekend, but Keith is the co-host on June 25/26, so I think Capitol might try to hold down the top spot with Luke and then Keith, meaning that Jason might have to wait a bit.

The last time Keith was in this position, he got screwed over so I'm REALLY hoping that it doesn't happen again. Actually, the last time a Keith single was in the position of a bigger seller having passed it on the airplay charts was "Break on Me," and Capitol Nashville manufactured a two-chart #1 for that song (followed by a steep airplay collapse) when the natural outcome would have been a multi-week #1 for the bigger seller (Carrie's "Heartbeat"). Comparing current sales of a lead single like "Lights Come On" to sales of a single on an already-released album (as is the case with "Wasted Time") is not an apples-to-apples comparison, as jhomes87 noted. The same probably applies on the streaming chart, where "Lights Come On" sits at #21 on the Country Streaming Songs chart and "Wasted Time" is not in the top-25. In any event, given the gap between "Wasted Time" and "Church Bells," it seems to me like there's time for all the boys to hit #1. As for the possibility of "The Fighter" being released (to pick up on jhomes87's post), I continue to think (and, if I'm being honest, hope) that Sony Nashville steps in here. I know that that song appears to be a huge hit in the making, but it looks like Keith and Carrie will be releasing their respective next singles in close proximity to each other and one would think Sony Nashville would want to make sure that the duet wasn't going to pull programmer focus from Carrie's next solo single. It's also important to keep in mind that while Luke Bryan was allowed to have his own solo single and a feature in the top-5 at country radio in May 2014 when "Play It Again" and "This Is How We Roll" were charting, "Somethin' Bad" took an airplay hit the week that "Something in the Water" debuted in late September/early October 2014, which suggests that programmers see two charting singles from country's biggest female star differently than they do two charting singles from country's biggest male star. The biggest tell may be the fact that Keith and Carrie didn't perform "The Fighter" at CMA Fest for the ABC special that will air on 3 August. Among Ripcord album tracks, Keith did play "Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)" and "Blue Ain't Your Color." I don't know if either was taped for broadcast, but if either was, that may be an indication as to what the next Ripcord single may be.

"The Fighter" Isn't next. I hear it's between "Boy Gets A Truck" and "Blue Ain't Your Color"
I would pick "Truck". For me it is the best and most "keith" song on the album. Also, it seems early in the Summer to go with a ballad, especially since there are a lot of slower songs out right now.

I'm anticipating The Fighter to be released after the Storyteller era ends (after four or five singles). It will keep Carrie Underwood's name out there between albums.

"The Fighter" Isn't next. I hear it's between "Boy Gets A Truck" and "Blue Ain't Your Color" MR I'm glad to hear that "The Fighter" won't be next (I want that one to be 5th or 6th, assuming it's a single and assuming that they release that many singles, of course). But if it's between these 2 choices...I'm baffled. I do like "Blue Ain't Your Color" quite a bit, but "Boy Gets A Truck" doesn't do much for me. BGAT also has lower track sales and streams than most other songs on the album. "Blue Gets Your Color" seems to be in the top half for track sales and streams, and given that he performed that one at CMA Fest (and not "Boy Gets A Truck"), I'd bet that "Blue Ain't Your Color" will be next. But I would have thought they'd go with another uptempo (that isn't "Boy Gets A Truck"), so that's why I'm baffled if it's truly between BGAT and BAYC. There's also "Habit Of You", which has been the best-selling and best-streaming track other than the singles and the collaborations, and "Habit Of You" strikes me as a good choice for a single. "Worry 'Bout Nothin'" seems like it would be the best choice for an uptempo single.

"The Fighter" Isn't next. I hear it's between "Boy Gets A Truck" and "Blue Ain't Your Color" MR But they just shot a video for "The Fighter." "The Fighter" is currently #28 and rising on Australia's ARIA Singles Chart, which is its Billboard Hot 100 equivalent. So I'm guessing that it's a single over there and picking up some meaningful airplay. A video for "The Fighter" would be a natural way to promote the song in that market (not to mention Keith's upcoming Australia/New Zealand arena/stadium dates with Carrie), and have in their pocket if "The Fighter" should become a U.S. single down the road, no? Also, given Keith and Carrie's schedules for the rest of the year, this may be one of the few times they can actually be in the same place to shoot a video. ETA: Wait, you're not just talking about the footage Carrie recorded for inclusion on Keith's tour, are you?

They're both featured (together and apart) in the stills I saw. Your reasoning would make sense, though. So who knows. I don't see how the song would really affect any Carrie chart runs with stuff from Storyteller, either.

"Boy Gets A Truck" would be my pick easily. It still sounds country and I like the driving feel to the song. It would be another easy #1. I hope "The Fighter" does not get released to any format, it sounds like cheap Motown/disco dance music with out of place singers. Honestly it's just an awful song IMO.

I'm not crazy about this song, though I'll admit I've warmed up to it recently over the course of its run on country radio, but I do hope this hits #1, especially if it's a choice between this and a second week for Luke or Jason. I was hoping for "The Fighter" next, but I'm sure it'll be released as some point even if it isn't the fourth single (fifth seems likely), and "Blue Ain't Your Color" was one of the few tracks on Ripcord that I remember standing out to me, so I hope they go with that one fourth then.

Production sounds dated, and honestly the song is overrated.

No. Is it the most well-written song in the world? Probably not. But Keith and Carrie both sound incredible, and the arrangement is irresistibly catchy, especially those guitar riffs. Also, I'm not really sure what you mean by the first part of your first sentence. First off, not every song has to be sung from the perspective of the artist singing it, but in this case, I'm not sure why you can't envision Keith as a "fighter", especially when the song is about two people in a committed relationship, with one of them expressing doubts while the other vows that he will do everything in his power to fight for them. Keith is happily married with a family of his own, and "The Fighter" is completely believable coming from him. You've made it clear that you don't like the song, which is fine, but saying that you can't see Keith as a "fighter" type of character doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. That's exactly the type of guy he's been for years now.

"The Fighter" is a hit but sounds more like a Pop/Hot AC hit than a Country one. I could see it doing well at Country just based on the artists on the track though.

I've said it a few times, and my overall distaste for the new direction Keith has taken with his music, being blatant pop music that even as pop music isn't that good to my ears Also for me it's vocally Keith doesn't sound believable, but that's just me. I just think vocally both could have done better and while it's decently written Keith doesn't do enough to convince me vocally that he's this "fighter" type but I digress.

He's a fighter according to this article in rolling stone: www.rollingstone.com/music/features/keith-urbans-hard-road-20160616Gave me chills reading about his path to stardom. I knew about his use of drugs and alcohol but reading that small bit about his father was sad.

I agree KUFan.....very powerful article! Sounds to me that Keith had to fight a lot of demons before he found his way in life thanks to his wife! I think Keith and Carrie both sound great in THE FIGHTER! I will be happy with any of the songs mentioned here being released. RIPCORD is becoming one of my favorite albums of Keith's. I've seen him perform BLUE AIN'T YOUR COLOR several times and his vocals were outstanding. I'm also in love with GETTIN IN THE WAY!

I read the article and while I agree it was a great article, it doesn't change the fact that I found vocally he didn't sound convincing as it still sounds like he's phoning it in to me. An artist can say what they want about a song but, unless the song convinces me otherwise I'm not gonna buy it (Keith Urban and Blake Shelton being prime examples).
It's an ok at best pop/dance song but I've heard much better from both artists in question (IMO).

Any word on "Wasted Time" going to pop radio? No, and I don't think it'll happen. I could see Keith's team releasing the Pitbull collaboration "Sun Don't Let Me Down" as a pop radio exclusive, and I'm assuming that "The Fighter" might receive some crossover airplay as well, but I can't see his team pushing "Wasted Time" to pop radio, nor do I think pop radio would be all that receptive to the song even if Keith's team did choose to try for some crossover airplay.

Lots of Hype regarding the Maren Morris CD and her musicial direction....Keith has been the Maren Morris of the Men on this format for a while and mostly gets criticized for it. Makes no sense to me. I would love for worry bout nothing to get a release to radio but it would take an act of God for that to happen...It almost didn't even make the record.

I'd be happy with just about any song off Ripcord as a single so I guess I'm in luck It's probably going to be one of the ones he's been doing live... again: Gone Tomorrow, Here Today, Gettin In The Way, Blue Aint Your Color, The Fighter, That Could Still Be Us.... but who knows. I could see Boy Gets A Truck being a single and I would LOVEEEE Worry Bout Nothin to be a single I think more than any of them. The Fighter will most definitely be at some point, but I'd like to think that should be the last one they go with off of this album. I know there's still a lot of hype about it right now, but I think it's a sure-fire hit and if they plan on releasing 6 singles from the album, releasing that one last will more or less guarantee to keep his record going for top 10s. This is also the first time I've heard anything about Keith and Carrie making a video for this song. Obviously they have the one he's using out on the road, but curious to see where this goes. As stated before, with their crazy schedules, maybe it's the only time they could have done it so they got it done and over with for when they plan on using it in the future AKA, a single at some point

"Wasted Time" takes over #1 position on tge Mediabase rolling chart today.
Luke's song is starting to free fall in spins and audience. I suspect Keith to take both charts this upcoming week.

Song is testing very well and hasn't spent a ton of time inside the top 10. Label held back this week because of UMG's plans with Keith and Luke's apparent push for a second week (that is now crumbling).

I'm pretty sure he said something about "Gettin' In The Way" being the next single at his show last night in Michigan. Man. That would be pretty unfortunate. Another generic teenage love song. Ear candy with no substance. If it is indeed between "boy gets a truck", "blue aint your color" or "gettin in the way" id still go "bgat" - Tempo. Substance. Then hit em eith "bayc" and finish the era with either "gettin in the way" or "worry bout nothin" MR
