Thought it was worth noting "Pieces" is at #41 on Hot AC & #16 on AC with bullets. The video is out tomorrow!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=O11UikJigxoThe video is visually stunning. I am one happy fan at the moment. :) I wonder who directed it. He or she did a beautiful job. As for the song itself, it's a keeper for sure. I love both the album version and the radio mix. The album version is definitely more introspective and personal but the radio mix is very epic especially now when hearing it while watching this stunning video. I don't know if there will be any promotion at all for this song other than the video but Rob's team should be very proud of the video - it's simply awesome.

I love that music video. One of the best I've seen from Rob. I usually enjoy all of his videos anyway.

Garen Barsegian directed the video, which enhanced the song for me. I hope it's a success somewhere.

Top 40 on Hot AC: 45 40 ROB THOMAS Pieces 338 289 49 0.908 It doesn't really seem like Atlantic Records is pushing this song at all yet to HotAC. It's a little puzzling really because I doubt this video was cheap to make. It's just too beautiful. It will be a shame if very few people end up seeing such a wonderful video. Odd because you would think Rob could still make the Top 30 on HotAC with a great ballad. Maybe the format has really changed that much. I guess my HotAC station seems to be a little more traditional than most of the big market HotAC stations today. They have been playing the album version of Pieces.

I don't know if anyone has noticed but this is doing quite well on AC. It is at #16 closing in on Top 15. It looks like a could go Top 10 there. Adds keep coming in for "Pieces" on Hot AC as well.

I guess I just find the whole roll out (if you can call it that) weird. Rob said in an interview somewhere that Atlantic was really behind Pieces - they really liked the song. Why do multiple-dance remixes, a radio mix, and I would guess a rather expensive video (current hot director) and then not push the song at all to HotAC. Maybe there's some master plan somewhere. LOL! He's not even done any TV performances/promotion yet. Maybe they are waiting for the big push in October/November when the tour with the Counting Crows is over. I guess we'll find out in a few months if they are going to let this quietly die or not.
Also, thanks for the info on the AC chart. I didn't think any song really did anything on that chart any more unless the song was a hit on pop and/or HotAC. BTW, one of the dance remixes is currently #6 on the Billboard Dance Chart. At least Atlantic is putting some money into that. :)

I hate the drum sounds and hi-hat or whatever its called on this song so much; it's not even funny. Please reform Matchbox Twenty again and leave these style to That X-Ambassadors band.

In my opinion, Matchbox Twenty is a done deal. I think Kyle is more into making his own music where he is the one in charge. Nothing wrong with that I guess but I don't see him coming back to do a tour and I don't see Paul touring without Kyle. Having said that, maybe I could see Rob going out with the bassist and hiring the other players. Works for me but I'm sure not the diehard fans. And I certainly don't see a new Matchbox album ever. Of course, I've been wrong many times concerning this band so what do I know. :)
BTW, I love, love, love the radio mix. I don't even listen to the other version now.
How is this song doing on HotAC? I wonder if Rob will even doing any talk shows after the tour wraps up.

This remains at #12 on the AC chart. I'm surprised that it's done this well, but I can't help but wonder if another song would have done better.

This remains at #12 on the AC chart. I'm surprised that it's done this well, but I can't help but wonder if another song would have done better. Me too. It's still confusing how a song like Blue October's "Home" out performs a Hot AC Legend with a great ballad that was 100 times better than the lead single "Trust You". Also it was #11 on AC last week on 50 stations and getting stronger. Very strange! I know the problem is their label. They have never made sense in the way they promote. Rob is just as current as Maroon 5 and Train. He just needs new promotion and label. Also on whether another song would've done better; I've always thought the gem on this CD was "Heaven Help Me".

#12 on AC, but the format is currently experiencing its annual death so a lot of the format is unbulleted. Given how well it was performing before I don't think it's yet; expect a huge post-Christmas rebound chart wide, then I could see it continuing to gain and at LEAST hit the top 10.

I never get tired of this song. The video is absolutely gorgeous. A little bummed that Rob had to lower the key to sing it live for the Sirius video, but he looks great. Dance remixes peaked at #5 on Club Play chart (Eric Kupper's sounds great in a big room!)
