"Dark Horse" and "Birthday" were the only singles I cared for from her last album so I'm hoping this is more Teenage Dream and less Prism.

Unpopular opinion: "Birthday" was my favorite single from Prism, and one of my favorite singles from her.

I remember reading somewhere that Katy wanted to go a more EDM route with her album. I'm hoping for some trap or house influenced pop song!!

I loved Birthday, and still do! I think its downfall was its video. They should've kept it not much longer than the song, like Sugar

Hopefully it's rhythmic pop like E.T./Dark Horse/Legendary Lovers and not something in the vein of Roar.

Did my sarcasm fail? ;) It's just me dragging this thread for being premature because there's absolutely nothing relevant to talk about yet. It'll be 50 pages of basic artist discussion, just relocated, before we even have official word and/or a title. I figured but with text you're never sure. ;)

I forgot Birthday even existed ha ha. Like, I was trying to think if she only had four singles off the last cd because all I could think of was Dark Horse, Unconditionally, Roar, and This is How We Do It. Prism was spotty for me with single choices and I always thought there were better choices on the cd for singles. I think they played it too safe going for very bland songs or songs that sounded the most like rehashes of her old songs. Obviously, it was really successful so I guess general audiences want stuff like Roar, Birthday, and This is How We Do. So, I suppose this is just a personal opinion from me. Dark Horse grew on me quite a bit and I loved Walking On Air and Legendary Lovers (the latter two weren't ever singles right?)
I am very interested to see if she works with Dr. Luke-I am assuming yes?

She really had the chance get a third #1 with Legendary Lovers instead of Birthday.. (Great song, with a catchy mv and some Dark Horse momentum) but she blew it off :(

But is this anticipation or is it reflection, though? It's not even speculative talk - it's just talking about what past songs everyone likes, which is what most people do in the Artist discussion threads. Girl, you know it's true. I'm not telling anyone to stop, btw, I'm just proving why I should be running this bitch.

I agree that Birthday is great but This Is How We Do was always garbage to me.

I still regularly play Birthday.
It's my JAM. But I bet this new song will be fantastic. She's ready to play.

I just hope it's not along the basicness of "Roar".

Prism was spotty to me as well. I didn't get the urgency to buy the album after listening to it Birthday and TIHWD were let downs. DH was okay but I never loved it as much as I loved ET for example. Unc was the best single of that era for me. Now my main question is what song she'll get "inspiration" from this time around... After California Gurls-Tik Tok and Roar-Brave, what will the pair be for this album???

I'm excited. Prism was pretty solid, but I hope Katy goes a different direction. I definitely could have done without a few of the midtempos on that album. I hope she takes some inspiration from songs like Dark Horse, Legendary Lovers, Walking on Air, and Spiritual, though. The single choices need to improve this era too. Legendary Lovers and Walking on Air could have been big hits.

If we're talking females, then probably "Just Like Fire", since that was the last big Max Martin penned hit by one

Can't wait for another generic Pop song from Queen Katy that will slay my summer :'( I'm craving a Walking On Air type of song from her, that song was a huge loss
