My album of the week. ~ Jesus to a Child ~ Older & The strangest Thing ~ are just great songs. Though the majority of others /or all are really good too.
At the time of release, the album was a huge commercial hit, particularly in Europe, but was received in America with a lukewarm critical approval and mediocre sales figures. In the UK, the album was particularly notable for producing six Top Three hit singles in a two-year span, creating a record still unsurpassed. The high sales of the album presaged a re-issue of the album under the name of Older & Upper 18 months after its original release.
To date, Older has sold around 8 million copies worldwide.
Older was particularly notable for the release of its six singles. All of them reached the UK Top 3

Love it. Faith is still my favorite by him, but this is a close second.

It wasn't a smash in North America, and so I don't think we have a sense of just how big this was in Europe - because it was MASSIVE.

He was not officially gay at that time, right? So, why America did not accept him/album better?

Been listening to this a lot lately... such an elegant album! I love how every George album has its on identity It's interesting how this was HUGE in Europe but got a pretty cold reception in the USA.

Love it. Faith is still my favorite by him, but this is a close second. I’ve found myself preferring this one since his death. Excellent album.

It took me a while to work up the interest to listen to this – I'd instantly adored Faith but Prejudice was a grower – but I finally got around to it last year and it was such a rewarding listen. I was already familiar with most of the singles but I was surprised at how solid the rest of the album is. "The Strangest Thing" was my favorite discovery by far but "To Be Forgiven" and "Move On" are gold as well. I still prefer Faith but Older isn't that far behind.
