Katy Perry and Bruno Mars haven't released albums since well before their Super Bowls and BeyoncΓ© was hardly about to drop an album when she did hers. Not crazy about Gaga, I used to be a fan but her material has consistently decreased in quality post-The Fame Monster. Both Katy and Bruno were on the tail end of eras with massive hits, Coldplay had just released their album, and Beyonce was speculated to be releasing her new album which goes along with Grown Woman being used as promo during her Pepsi commercial. Before that BEP was riding the wave of their mega era and Madonna was releasing MDNA around the time of her performance. If that's the case why was Rihanna, Justin (both) and Taylor all passed up?

Who's to say that they weren't in consideration as well. Wasn't Rihanna a main contender until she found out about the deal Pepsi had in place dealing with touring and such. Justin Timberlake is probably still secretly blacklisted because of Nipple Gate. Beiber can barely perform during his own tour dates and live performances and Taylor was more than likely fielded as well but her team is very fickle when it comes to product deals which Pepsi is all about.

I don't see Beyonce coming back lol But maybe a special guest... Hm.. And who knows if she will get a mega hit before then from the new album. I would say her current set prediction (excluding maybe 1 or 2 brief interludes of other songs of hers):
Just Dance Poker Face Bad Romance Born This Way Applause New Song and/or Perfect Illusion

Also, Taylor is heavily involved with Coca-Cola. She even had a huge string of commercials with them playing some songs from 1989 before its release in 2014.

While I think, Rihanna, both Justin's, and Taylor Swift are fantastic vocalists, icons and humanitarians of music and incredibly talented. I'm very pleased, that Lady Gaga was chosen as she has always good or bad, been able to perform at a very high level. Her stage performances are legit. I think it would be the most interesting and most debated performance out of all those performers.

She is so fitting for this... and I think most big stars will get their chance to do Super Bowl anyway if they want, it was her turn this time

Excellent choice. She is immensely talented with the PERFECT catalog for a show like this. I have full faith she'll pull off a great show. Can't wait!

I am fine with any set list as long as it ends with The Edge of Glory

She is going to make a spectacle of herself and that is a good thing for the half time show.
I think she will do great. I have never been a huge fan but she is a very good performer.

While Gaga is still such a young performer she has already reached that career break point where we can longingly look at the first half of her career with reverence and nostalgia. That is both a compliment and criticism.

I went out for a walk and thought about her Super Bowl performance... I think this could work nicely
Poker Face/Bad Romance/Marry the Night (medley) Perfect Illusion Alejandro/Do What U Want/Paparazzi (medley) Million Reasons (or Hey Girl with Florence) Born This Way
I don't want her to have other guests than Florence. Of course Mark Ronson etc as they are in her band.

I will honestly be surprised if the special guest isn't Elton John.

Elton has multiple classics, both uptempo and down that would go over well with the SB crowd. Bennie and the Jets is the first to come to mind, but there's several more.
I can see Springsteen as well, but he already had his own halftime show several years back.

Problem with guests is that 12-15 minutes isn't a long time especially for an artist who has hits. Gaga has no problem with that really so there's no need to spend time with others. If she's having guests they better be spot on.

If she's having guests they better be spot on. She has less hits than most of the past performers. The only one coming to mind who had less than her for sure is Bruno (could argue Coldplay, but if so not by very much at all). If Madonna could shoehorn in guests with her catalog, there's no excuse for her.

The halftime show isn't even really so much about the artist headlining as it is about it being the biggest entertainment event in the world. Gaga can provide that entertainment no doubt but they're going to want to cover all bases and that means having a guest or two that isn't Gaga's demographic. Elton John is definitely an obvious choice except there might be a lot of overlap in their coverage so even he might not be enough. I could totally see Dave Grohl or some (male) country superstar stepping in. Obviously if Madonna was announced as a guest, that would be massive.

I feel like the NFL just needs to push this being a multi-artist affair now instead of focusing on one single headline act (since it's been multi- ever since 2011 and shows no signs of stopping). At least then it won't come off as misleading.

I love "Million Reasons," but I'm hoping her setlist is completely uptempo and high energy. But, if she must throw a ballad in there, I'll take "Million Reasons" over the others, especially if she sings it as beautifully as she did at Royal Variety.

I think "Million Reasons" is more likely than both "Perfect Illusion" or "A-yo"

I hope her setlist includes: Just Dance Poker Face Bad Romance Born This Way Applause A-Yo *fingers crossed*
I want her to keep it upbeat and focus on her past hits. However, I'm all for an Elton John guest appearance. Gaga and Elton doing a duet of Candle In The Wind or Rocket Man would be perfect!

I wish Joanne hadn't come out yet and she could do the following. "Paparazzi" and "Telephone" would be welcome as well.
"Applause" "Bad Romance" "Born This Way" "Just Dance" "Poker Face" "The Edge of Glory" "You & I"

I'd be surprised if PI isn't on the list since the NFL/Pepsi continue to use that as the song and video to promote the SB special. I saw it a dozen times during last weekend's playoff games. I expect more of the same this weekend.

PI definitely belongs to the set list and it sounds amazing live (or at least did sound on the Bud Light tour)
